Fenrir looked at Jack and a look of amusement crossed his face.
"The Blood brother is getting antsy," Fenrir told Edward, glancing at Jack and then back to Edward.
"Yes," Edward said. "The subject is a little touchy for him. He is one of those who detests being a werewolf."
"Ah, yes, I have met several of those in my time. Most of them don't live long, quite honestly, but perhaps he's gotten enough of Lupin's tutelage that he has learned to at least accept if, even if he cannot embrace it. Nevertheless, I can't say that I blame him. I wouldn't want to have any of James' blood running through my veins either. Don't blame you a bit on that, Son." He looked directly at Jack as he spoke. "James is a blight on all werewolves and humans alike. So, Donohue, am I an ally or merely a handy distraction?"
"Ally, please," Edward said. "We don't know where to find the Lupin woman."
"And how much is it worth to you to get her back?
"Her, and her protector, alive? A good deal. What would you want?"
"A place for my pack and I. A place we own, with ample hunting grounds for food."
"And you would not take humans?"
"I didn't ask for humans, did I?"
"If we get the woman and her bodyguard, you shall have your land. I will make it so," Edward said.
"Then we have an accord," Fenrir said. "If any of you breech it, though, I will kill your entire pack. Understand me?"
"Fair enough," Edward said. "You have my word."
"More importantly, are you able to agree on Lupin's behalf?"
"I am. You have my word and his," Edward said.
"Do not come here again without prior arrangement. Send an owl. And, no, we don't eat owls. Would do us little good if we ate the messenger, now, wouldn't it? Our meeting is adjourned." Fenrir got up and went back into the shadows, the sentries and the woman going with him.
"Come," Edward told Jack and Jessie, feeling this was not the place to talk so long as there was a chance that Fenrir's sentries could still be watching and listening.
