LONDON CALLING

Jack and Jess heard Angus but at the same time saw the medallions light up . " Jessie stay here Jess keep looking, Angus with me " he touched his medallion and immidiutly found himself in a corridor the smell of disenfectant told him he was at St Mungos. "Michael , whats the situation?" he asked looking around wand out and at the ready as he heard the sound of spells being cast back and forth. " come on we have to help." he said moving quickly but quietly closer to the door of the potions lab.

Jessie looked at Jess who shook her ehad " thats what happens when the medallions go off we go to their aid but right now we have to search the grounds for any tracking pendant." Jess said and turned to her left. As she did she felt a cold feeling rush threw her " this way." she told him and they walked out of the house towards a stable.

Jack reatche the door and pushed it open, he could see Robert but not whom he was dueling. " whats a bet that its gelding in there?" he said pushing it all the way open.

"Not entirely sure yet, except that I don't want any of us to get hit. Mira,..." Michael began.

"I can hold my own," she said quickly. "You don't need to worry about me. If we all stay low, we'll be able to hopefully hide behind something." Michael and Mira and Angus were already suspecting the same thing that Jack did. Angus motioned that he was going to apparate in on the far side of the room, and Mira volunteered to go with him. They apparated together in behind Robert's worktable and immediately crouched down low to avoid getting his with wand fire.

Michael flattened himself against the hallway wall, right tight to the potions lab door jam, and, seeing the general direction of where Robert's opponent was firing from, Michael decided to heat things up and deliberately fired a fireball at them. Robert took advantage of it and used his wand to toss two of the metal work stools in the same direction.

"Can't let them have all the fun," Mira told Angus, and she cast a spell to levitate a wooden shelf that was loaded with small cauldrons and hurled them rapid fire in the same place.

Robert was keeping an eye on Gelding, and he saw Gelding was not only avoiding the magic coming at him but he wasn't returning fire. Robert decided that Gelding was up to something. His bet was that Gelding was preparing to fire a significant spell. And then he saw the way Gelding was moving his wand.

"Take cover!" Robert shouted at them. He stood and fired as powerful a protego spell as he could muster to try to shield those who had come to help him, and at the same moment, Gelding cast a spell to explode a floor to ceiling set of shelves that held countless glass jars, causing glass to fly in every direction. That was the last Robert saw just before something struck him, and everything went black.

To Michael, it seemed to happen in slow motion. Robert casting his spell, and Gelding casting his to release a glimmering shield that came between them and Gelding. And then shards of glass flying through the air and then Robert falling to the floor as he heard the delayed sound in his ears of the explosion and the bursting glass, followed by Gelding's echoing laughter.

Gelding fired again, and Michael saw what Gelding was aiming to do. Gelding was going to try to levitate Robert and take him right in front of their eyes.

"Not on my watch, Little Boy!" Michael roared in rage, firing his wand, not intending to fire a fireball at Gelding, but that was what left his wand, missing Gelding by just the narrowest of margins.

"Can you keep him busy?" Michael shouted to the others, wanting to get to Robert.

Jack let every one get in position and do their thing but when Robert fell his anger grew and he let out a loud deep howl as he fired his wand. now part tranphormed to his were he lundged for Gelding only to be thrown backwards from the force of the spell he'd just cast. But he quickly got back up "Thats no problem." he growled out leaping towards Gelding knowing he'd probably not do any damage but serve to distract him for a moment.  

Hearing Gelding laugh Jack grew ever more angry at him " fight like a man not a house elf playing at being a man" he taunted him as he felt shards of glass cut his skin but make little in the way of pain.

Back at the house Jess and Jessie searched the grounds and found the tracking pendant. Placing it in a bag they took it to Brians lab and placed it in a secure lockup.

" okay l'll help Robert." Jessie said and he ported to St Mongos. Hearing Jacks growl Jessie shook his head "Thats not good" Now he sprinted down the corridor. As he passed one room he spotted Kaden and called out to him " quick come with me." now both ran down to teh potions lab, Jessie taking out his Bo and enlarging it as Kaden took out his wand ready to cast a Binding Spell  Incarcerous or Confringo to stop them.

"Angus where do you need me?" he said as both men knelt with him.

"Just help Jack with Gelding," Angus said. "We're not focusing on catching him this time. Let's just drive him off. If we start working to drive him off, Jack'll catch on what we're doing, and he'll be more than happy to help us get rid of him for the moment."

Mira actually reached Robert before Michael did, and she saw a little pool of blood beneath him. She had no doubt he was hurt, but she didn't know how badly.

"Michael," she alerted him quietly when Michael got to her.

"I know. I see it, but we can't stop to deal with this now. We have to get him out of here before Gelding can lay his hands on him. Grab hold of him tight with one hand and then take tight hold of me with the other. They'll see we got him out, and they'll be relieved. We'll leave Gelding to them."

Mira did as she was told, and Michael apparated Robert, Mira and himself out.

"We're clear!" Angus shouted at Jack and Jessie to tell them Michael had gotten Robert out. "He's all ours now, Boys! Let's get him and send what's left of him home in a matchbox!"

Michael apparated them home to the farmhouse, to Robert's room, and Gabe and Kate knew at once they were back and hurried to the bedroom. Gabe helped Michael put Robert on the bed, and Gabe saw Robert had a lot of small cuts and one large wound in his left shoulder. Kate handed Gabe a pair of scissors, and Gabe cut Robert's jacket and shirt away.

"It's not so bad," Gabe said. "He's had far worse. It could use a bit of proper wizard surgery, though. For now..." He was interrupted by the sound of more apparating.

"Mum!" It was Khaat's voice. "Is Dad here?"

"Yes, and we could use your help," Kate called back. Khaat came into the bedroom and saw the wound and checked it.

""Get me one of Dad's med kits," Khaat said. "He'll be okay, but maybe if Jess or Jessie get back they can help me to do this properly."

"I'll look and see if there's another one here. We used his main kit a few days ago, and I don't know if he's replenished it," Kate said.

Jessie nodded to Angus and moved to stand at Jacks side hid bow deflecting some but not all of Geldings magic. Kaden fired both  Incarcerous and Confringo, binding him then blacting him across the room with force. Kaden had seen the pool of blood and looked at Jessie worried." worry about it when we've delt with this turd" Jesie said making Kaden smile.

"okay well let finish him." he said changing his stance so he could cast a charm to obliterate him and stop the fight. Kaden fired his wand sending Gelding flying back into the shelves behind him. as he stood a peice flew at them both and Jessie pushed him out of the way ausing the wood to lodge in his shoulder . Kaden now was just as angry as Jack who was using his wand even if it was abit akward with his werewolf hands. Taking out the wood he healed him and turned to Gelding. with a flick he turned him to stone. " okay that wont hold him for long." he said but Jack walked over and smashed the stone Gelding to peices.

"now stay dead you peice of trash" Jack shouted at the stone head that lay on the floor.

Kate found another med kit in the weapons room and brought it for Khaat who set about doing surgery to stop the bleeding. She knew how meticulous her father was about any surgical procedure. He believed wizard surgery had to be far superior to muggle methods from start to finish, and she didn't want any missteps.

Leaving Michael in the kitchen to brew a very large pot of tea, Kate sent for Brian, and he came at once.

"Khaat could use your help," Kate said quietly and seriously, pointing to the bedroom. Brian went there straight away, and it only took him a moment to take in the gist of things.

"You're doing fine," Brian said, joining her. "Stop thinking about who it is, and handle it just like any other. It's an easy procedure that you know by heart."

"Don't let me buggar it up," she told him.

"I won't. I've got you covered if you need it," he told her, stepping in to provide support spells to keep all the vital signs stable. "He doesn't really need these support spells. He's doing alright without them, but if it makes you feel better..."

"It does," she said, still working.

In the kitchen, Michael poured Kate a cup of a relaxing herbal tea. He figured they all were going to need to wind down after their mission. Gabe and Mira set about setting the table in the dining room. They knew everyone was going to be hungry once the adrenalin wore off, and there were scones and rolls and soup, and some of Kate's homemade cookies still waiting on them all as a warm and comforting reward for a job well done.

Jack Jessie and Kaden looked at Angus " okay please say we can head back and check on Robert?" Jack said but Kaden didn't wait he with Jessie ported back.

Kaden moved to Khaats side " how is he" he assked and placed his fingers against Roberts neck " breathings fine" with his other hand he placed it on Roberts chest. " blood presures nominal. " what ever your doing, keep doing it." he said softly not taking his eyes off Robert. " Names Kaden, new nurse at St mungo's, I'll help as much as I can." he told her " I've stabalized his vitals."

Jessie sat down on a stool and watched them all work while waiting for Jack and Angus to return. Jack had picked up the stone head and loked closer at it. He handed it to Angus " its not him" he said "The fucker got away." he then looked at him " we can't tell the others not till Roberts one hundred percent better." Jack kicked some of the stone parts making them fall down a drain hole.

"I didn't expect it to actually be him," Angus sighed, still a bit frustrated. "I'll wager he offered one of his thugs an opportunity to 'play' him at tonights affair and offered him a bonus to do it. There isn't going to be a farthing more put in this poor fool's bank account. We did away with one of his goons, but that's about all. That, and it's going to be a major expense for St. Mungos to replace this lab and all the rare ingredients that were stored here. Not to mention years of work in making some of these potions they had stored for rare conditions. I'm quite sure that already passed through Robert's mind before he was knocked out, but he'll still be frustrated when he gets a good look at it in the next day or so. Oh well, let's get to the farm and check on Robert."

When Kaden stepped in to watch Robert's vitals, Brian stopped doing it and instead offered to help Khaat stop the bleeding. She welcomed a second set of hands, and it didn't take long to finish the job. Brian offered to close and to put a dressing on the shoulder while Khaat washed up.

"Oh, I heard about you from Khaat and Robert," Brian said to Kaden. "Brian Quinn. I'm sort of a jack of all trades. Fighter, auror, healer. Khaat's husband, and Robert's son-in-law. Abbey's dad. Um..yeah, that just about covers it."

"There are a few other titles in there," Michael said, bringing in some mugs of tea, "but those are the important ones. "Here. Tea fixes everything. Dinner is ready in the dining room. When you get him settled, I'll stay so you all can go eat. If there's any change, I'll call you."

"Thank you, Michael," Khaat said.

"Color is coming back to his face already," Michael observed.

"That's because she learned her technique from him," Brian said.

Kaden moved back letting Khaat finish up and looked at Brian and smiled offering his hand " Kaden Whittemore, wizard and just a nurse." he said but glanced at Jessie who smiled " oh and his boy freind although he's not asked yet" Kaden said looking at Jessie who blushed. On hearing Michael he laughed then headed to make some tea for himself and Jessie.

Jack looked at Angus and nodded " still wish I could get my hands on that little weasel." Jack said and looked at the distruction around them. " yeah, they will have to start over." he sighed and then puntched the wall leaving a fist sized hole in it. " sorry had too. " he said " okay lets get back" now he ported back to Brians " hows he doing?" he asked.

"hes fine" Kaden said in awnser then looked to Jessie who was constantly moving his shoulder " but as for you, follow me, um Mr Quinn do you have a bathroom I could use for a moment?" he asked taking Jessie by the hand.

"Nice to meet you, Kaden," she said, shaking hands with him. "Glad we've got another nurse on staff. We can always use good nurses on staff. If Jessie's using my old suite of rooms here, there's a bathroom attached. Jessie can show you, I'm sure."

Brian was glad to see Jack and Angus arrive. That told him that all the staff were out of harm's way for the moment.

"You know Robert," Brian told Jack and Angus. "He had one pretty deep wound to the shoulder, but we've made some repair. So if I know him at all, he'll be up again before morning. Not that he should be, but we all know what its like to try to get Robert to follow his own medical advice. He's a crappy patient. Under the circumstances, though, St. Mungo's is going to need him up and working as soon as he can manage. Michael said the potions lab is almost a complete loss. That could take years to put back the way it was."

"You know," Angus said, "I could always send for my grandfather. He knows a fair amount about healing potions. He could give Robert a hand."

"It's been a long time since I've seen Edward," Brian smiled. "I'm sure Robert would welcome another potion maker."

"It's an excellent thought, Angus," Khaat said, "Please send for him. He can stay at our place, of course."

"Wait, who are we sending for?" Michael asked, coming in.

"Edward Donohue," Brian replied.

"Edward? Nice," Michael smiled. "It'll be good to reconnect."

"And he'll be a big help getting the potions lab up again," Angus said.

"Indeed," Michael agreed. "Now, all you lot, go get some supper while it's still hot. I've eaten, so I'll stay with Robert long enough for you to get a meal. I'll call you if there are any changes."

"Thank you, Michael," Khaat said, kissing him on the cheek. She and Brian and Angus went to join Kate, Gabe, Abbey and Mira in the dining room. She hadn't thought she was hungry, but the mention of food made her realize she was hungrier than she first thought.
