LONDON CALLING

Jes chuckled at Kates discription of Mira's dress style " I'm seeing that Kate" she said chuckaling under her breath Oh and I don't think I have ever been to one, oh there was that open air affair at Hogwarts, the year I met Jack, does that count?" she said picking up thr bags with clothes in they had just bought. " there might be some oldies on the muggle tv. we could show her when we get back" she said Trying not to notice Jessie and Kaden dipping into a shop just behind Kate and Mia.

Now sat Jessie looked at the list they had almost everything on it " okay just three things and were done." he said but Kaden chuckled as he spoke.

"Isn't that your employer?" He asked and Jessie looked around pausing as he saw them and gave a short wave as did Kaden.

"yep there treating one of Kates relatives." he said "Mia." Kaden nodded and ordered his tea and something to eat as they gathered their strength.

Jess saw Kaden and Jessie and waved at them " seems Jessies on a shopping hunt for Gabe as well." she said noting how many bags Jessie had around his feet. But he did seem to be hapy and not once had he taken his potion only when it was his perscribed time. " I have a feeling we'll see a lot more of that young healer, and in a non profeshional way too." she smiled and turned to Kate " all right manacure and new look time she said ."

"Doesn't count," Kate laughed. "I'm talking one of those big arena things that hold about 10,000 people."

"How many?" Mira frowned.

"It'll be alright. You might even have a good time," Kate teased. "I think your idea of finding maybe some old concert footage on muggle tv. We might be able to manage that too." When Jess saw Kaden and Jessie and pointed them out, Mira and Kate waved.

"Well, if that works for Jessie and Kaden, then I'm happy for them," Kate said. When she saw they were shopping, she said, "I'm sure that was probably Robert's doing. He mentioned he was concerned for what little bit Gabe had."

"Dad pretty much got rid of almost everything he owned so I could pack more of my things in the bag," Mira said. "He believed he could use magic to transfigure his clothes so that people wouldn't know he only had about two changes of clothes to his name."

"Your Uncle Robert would never allow that," Kate said. "You're amongst family now. I imagine he's asked them to outfit your dad."

"He deserves some nice things," she said. "He's spent his whole life alone because of me."

"No, Pet," Kate caressed her cheek lovingly. "It's because of you that he's never been alone a day in his life. You are his entire world, and he wouldn't trade it for anything."

"What's going to happen to us, Aunt Kate?"

"We're going to show you Brian's cabins and see if you and your dad like them. There are several that are empty. You can have a real home, and you can stay as long as you like. Now, enough sad talk. Let's get to that salon. Lead the way, Jess."

Jess laughed when Kate said her first date concert didn't count " awe, okay" she said and chuckled when things strted to get solum she smiled at Mia " they won't see you go with out, for as long as I have known Khaat and Brian they have treat me like family, you are family to them. Look on the bright side" she told her " your here with us your fathers getting new clothing and we..." she pointed to Kate , mia and herself " are going to relax , no more sad talk only happy talk from here on out, oh and theres ice cream waiting back at the farm, Jessie brought all flavours you could imagine." she said as they walked down towards a little bootquie she knew that did mackovers magical and non.

Jessie sighed watching the three walk on dosn the alley." okay we have shose, coats and scarfs" he said but Kaden took his hand and placed the list into Jessies pocket.

"Relax for five minets please" He said " I feel we have something between us and I'd like to enjoy that before you run off again." Jessie chuckled and sat back in his chair.

"yeah, theres something there" Jessie admited with a smile. After ten minets they both stood up and headed to a chothing store Kaden knew of to get the remaining things for Gabe. Once done Jessie stood nervously looking at Kaden who just rolled his eyes and kissed Jessie cheek .

"I'll see you at eight tomorrow." Kaden said " and stay safe," he told him Jessie now grinning like a cheshire cat ported back to the farm. He found himself outside the kitchen door and try as he might he could not stop the grin that was plastered over his face as he walked in " Robert got everything you asked for." he called out moving to the living room. " I saw Kate , mia and Jess, looked like they were having fun."

"That's nice to know," Mira said. "Dad and I have always just relied on ourselves. It'll be nice to have more family than that. I appreciate that, and I know Dad does too." When Jess mentioned the ice cream, Mira remembered that Jessie had gone overboard with the ice cream. That would be a welcome treat when they got to it.

The salon was a true treat and a lift for all of them. They were able to get cuts, manicures, pedicures, facials, and even massages. It was certainly a lift for Mira, and for Kate, who very seldom spent money so lavishly on herself. But Kate told the stylists to give the bill for everything for all three of them to her. She was pleased to pay for it.

Robert was working with a glamour cream, trying to cover the bruises and abrasions on his face so he could hide them for a few hours, long enough to look fairly decent to take Kate to dinner. He didn't want her to ever have to be ashamed of him and certainly not of how he looked. The cream was covering part of it, but it wasn't erasing it well enough to suit Robert. He sighed, frustrated.

"Thank you, Jessie," Robert said. "I'm glad you saw them and I'm glad they were having a good time. Kate very seldom goes out just for fun. She deserves it." He set the jar of cream aside, fed up with trying to look better. "I think I'd be better off to pick a restaurant that is just really dark," he sighed, getting out one of his suit jackets to brush it off. "I guess I could hex the place and cause a power failure. Then it would be good and dark, wouldn't it?"

Jessie chuckled and shook his head " you look fine sir maybe try a muggle method of foundation, that would cover some of the bruises." Jesie sugested "as for the restaraunt maybe just leave the lighting as it is besides Kates loves you for you, bruises, cuts and bumps included sir" he said glancing at the cream. " sometimes reverting to muggle ideas do work" he accoid some foundation and lightly applied it till you could bearly see any bruising. " there" he said " please do not ask how I know how to apply muggle foundation, becuse it was my sister's fault."

Jessie picked up the bags and walked to Gabe " here I belive these are things you need and or asked for." he said smiling at both of them.

Jess relaxed and started to fel her self again what with her new look and massage she'd had . " oh Kate I could take these hands home with me , but I think Jack would get jelouse " she joked with the massuse. " so Mia what flavor did you pick to have when we get back, Im a rocky road gal." she said turning her head to look at them both. " you know I think Kaden and Jessie make a cute couple." she said softly " good for them."

"I have to agree with you," Kate said. "I feel like a new woman. What a wonderful treat. We have to do this far more often than we do. I don't think we should tell the guys. I think it should be our secret. And now for a little ice cream before dinner. I think I'll go for strawberry this time."

"You might like the strawberry we had from the little shop near where our store was. It was strawberry with flakes of dark chocolate ganache. It was so good," Mira said.

"Oh, my goodness," Kate said. "its' probably good that we don't have that here. I'd never eat anything else."

"I think I saw some pistachio in the stuff Jessie brought. I might raid that," Mira said. "Do you really think he'll take you to a chippy, Aunt Kate?"

"No," she laughed, "but it would be fine if he did. The older you get, the more you'll realize it isn't important where you go or what you eat. The only thing that matters is the quality time with the person you love. Some of the best meals we ever had were sandwiches packed in a hamper and eaten under a tree somewhere. Let's go back and get some of that ice cream." She ported them back home.

(i didn't specify that kate ported jess too, but its fine if you want jess to come along with kate rather than porting herself back. whatever you want is fine.)

"Thank you," Robert said, grateful for the help. He opened his top dresser drawer and got out a wizarding photograph of Kate when she was in her first year out of Hogwarts. "Look here. She keeps tucking this photo in the drawer, but she had every bloke around tailing after her because of her looks. She was absolutely breathtaking--she still is. She could have had any man she wanted, and somehow she ended up with me. I'll always polish myself up if I'm going to be seen with her."

Kate and Mira headed for the freezer when they got back and Kate found some dessert bowls that were perfect for holding a scoop or two of ice cream.

"Anybody else want some while we're dishing up ice cream?" Kate called.

Jessie chuckled and smiled at Robert " if Im okay to say its becuse she saw the good in you, the kind careing and suportive side of you and the protective, she takes you for who you are and she loves you for it." Jessie said thinking of Kaden and if he would do the same for him " sir if I found some one like that I hope we last as long as you and Kate have" he told him " and I hope you and Kate have a good night out."

Jess had ported back with the others and chuckled as Kate called out about the ice cream " I'll have rum raisn." she said moving to Kate and help her self to the ice cream then placed some sprinckles over it. " so Mia enjoy your day out" she asked taking a spoon of her ince cream. It was now she heard Jessie walk from the back to the kitchen.

"oh Ice cream, got to be strawberry with strawberry sauce and some fresh sliced on the side." he said making it for himself and sitting with the women to eat " your al looking refreshed." he said eating as well. " Oh Jess Jacks out in the west paddok hes talking with the rouge wolf." Jessie dipped his spoon in and ate smiling as he thought about his next visit with Kaden.

"Thank you," Robert said to Jessie. "I'd like to think that's the case. I will tell you, though, in your line of work you will surely run across people who consider me more like the devil incarnate, and that's because I don't always use the most traditional methods of problem solving. I do, however, get results. And I will always work for the greater good." He heard Kate calling that she was dishing up ice cream.

"I guess there's no harm in dessert first for a change." He slipped on his jacket and went to the kitchen. Kate looked at him and saw he was dressed sharply, and she noticed his efforts at covering the bruises. She went over and caressed his cheek.

"I appreciate the effort, my love, but I like the real you better," she said.

"This is to keep them from ignoring how lovely you look by staring at how horrid I look," he said with an amused smile. She frowned slightly.

"Ice cream? I think I saw some dark chocolate truffle in there," she suggested.

"Surprise me," he said. She dished him up a scoop of the chocolate truffle and a scoop of something else and then handed the dish to him. "Figure it out," she said. The dark brown color of the chocolate was a dead give away. The second one he had to taste first, and he gave it a moment to savor the flavors. "Hmm. Bananas, butter, brown sugar...and rum...Bananas foster? Is there such a thing as bananas foster ice cream?"

"Oh, well done," she said.

"I have a sweet tooth, remember? I have never met a dessert I didn't like," he said.

"Then maybe we should just go for a really exorbitant dessert tonight," she teased.

"Perhaps, but you'd waste the best part of the evening, then," he said.

"We still need to drop Abbey off back at Brian's," Kate said.

"Any of you lot going to be here, or shall we take Abbey back to her mum and dad?" Robert asked.

"I'm not going anywhere," Mira said, "but I can't speak for anybody else. Maybe Abbey and I could make some popcorn. Are there any muggle movies to be had?"

"Shhh," Kate said. "We won't tell, but yes. Illegal as they are, there are."

Jess finished her ice cream and smiled " I'm staying too. movies sound good right now." She gathered all the empty plates and placed them into the dishwasher for every one. " we can watch movies together." Jess said to Mia " and keep Abby ocuppied ." Jessie finished his dish and placed it in the washer making sure everything he'd used was ether back where it had come from or in the washer to be cleaned.

" well since I have a room, I'll retire and read till I fall asleep, night ladies" he said and chuckled heading to the room with remus's picture in it. Sitting down he took out the book he'd found from the library and opened it to the last page he had been on. It was about traits of the were wolf.

Jess said night to Jessie as he passed and moved to the book case. " So you two enjoy your evening and don't worry, Jack will be back soon and we have Jessie should any thing happen and the medalions if we can't handel it" she said looking at Mia now she spoke " what movie were you thinking about?" she asked " theres that new one...Turnning Red, I think its called?" she pulled it off the shelf.

"Good idea," Mira said. "I think Abbey should like that one. I haven't seen it yet, but the trailer looked interesting."

"I think we should go. They have it under control," Robert told Kate.

"Give me one moment. Let me go change. I won't be two minutes," she said. She went to the bedroom, and she came back wearing a midi length cream colored dress with a spring floral print. It had a flowing skirt, and she had added a pink shawl in case the early spring evening got cool. She had paired it with a pair of beige heels.

"How did you do that in two minutes?" he asked her, always amazed at how lovely she looked.

"Witch, remember?" she laughed, taking his arm. "Shall we? Don't wait up for us, you lot. And try not to set the place on fire while we're gone." Robert flicked his wand, and they were gone.

"Abbey," Mira said, "should we have popcorn or candy with the movie?"

"Berries!" Abbey said. Mira looked at her, frowning.

"What's wrong with this child?" she looked at Jess. "What child in her right mind would choose berries over popcorn or candy? Doesn't she ever get anything other than berries?"

"There is nothing wrong with a child who prefers to eat healthy," Gabe said. "Even though that might be the first three year old I've seen that would prefer to eat healthy over eating junk food. I'll check the cabinets. Robert's a junk food nerd. He's got to have a stash here somewhere, and if it's here, I'll find it."
