Completely unable to come up with a way to fix whatever he had just caused for Charlotte, Christian sighed and shifted his weight, wondering how long he actually had to participate before he could leave without people complaining. He wasn't sure if he actually cared about their teasing, but he also wasn't confident in his ability to ignore it if he kept drinking.
But Clair rounded the boys up, more or less, and came up with an idea that wasn't strictly embarrassing. Of course, there was a catch.
"That sounds fine," he agreed just as quietly. "But shouldn't we add that everyone has to take it? Or at least that they do? Seems like the punishment for not following suit is to drink," he added with a glance towards Belby. "So either we all take it, or people are getting incredibly drunk.
"I just think it'd help us skip a few steps, and of course make any other truths much more... believable."
His look, that time, was directed at the Yaxleys. Nobody, Christian was convinced, actually believed their answers. And he had no clue about Ezra. But if they were going to do this, then at least they could all play fair -- even if it meant doing something he wasn't quite sure they really should.
