Selwyn's kinda-sorta involved with Addie right now, but he's having serious misgivings about it.  He's also involved with Shylock, but we'll get to that shortly.

He's also still terribly afraid of himself, so I'm willing to open him up for a casual relationship with someone (or some people) for experimental veela power purposes.

He needs a friend, someone he can trust to talk to, but who preferably isn't friends with Addie.

Oh, and he's still supposed to be finding a wife.

Shylock Ashcroft

To put it bluntly, he's an addict.  He just got out of rehab at St Mungos, and he's full of good intentions right now because he's in a more secure relationship than any he's had previously.

Of course that won't last.

He also killed a unicorn in fifth year and that needs to come out at some point.

I have been working on Shylock's character arc for a while now, and I really want it to culminate, but I need to get some other people involved:

+  Friends who won't give up on him when he backslides (because he's going to)
+  Staff at St Mungos who aren't Robert Lupin or Michael (tbh, I hate RPing with my own characters)
+  A closer relationship like a best friend or former lover or someone who was in St Mungos with him (eyes Lily).  Basically, someone who has a unique perspective.

Clair Sauvage
Live like you're going to die, because you are

Clair is sketchy, manipulative, impulsive and promiscuous. Rebelling used to be a big part of his identity, now it's more like a habit.

While he can be very clever, he doesn't have much self awareness.

He's a new character and I want some threads for him. Anyone, anywhere, any time.

Darcy Driscoll
Did you guys even read the book?

Darcy's a first year muggleborn who reads lots of fantasy novels. Her favourite website is TV Tropes. She constantly forgets the wizarding names for things so she may tell you she needs some Phlebotinum, or is looking for a McGuffin.

Destrey Ashcroft
Loyal to few, ruled by none
CW: violence, implied childhood neglect

Currently the Defence teacher at Hogwarts, Destrey also sells restricted potions ingredients on the black market.

She has an obsessive personality and is extremely selfish.  If your character wrongs her, she'll go out of her way to get payback.  She enjoys humiliating people.

I haven't got much planned out for her, but she is involved with a modern murder mystery

Monroe Ashcroft
Listen, smile, agree, then do whatever you were going to do
CW: implied childhood neglect

Oversees a minor department at the Ministry of Magic.  Monroe is far more interested in interfering with his siblings' lives than he is in doing his actual job (which is mostly paperwork anyway).

He disapproves of Shylock's sexuality, but considers everything else his siblings do a minor annoyance that merely needs to be managed correctly.

He's also a werewolf rights activist.

Monroe's tangentially involved in the modern murder mystery plot, and will be involved in Shylock's downward spiral as well.  He needs:

+  At least one friend, preferably someone as intelligent as he is, or with more life experience.  It would be great if they were assertive enough to tell him when he's wrong (he probably won't listen)
+  A love interest. Because everything Monroe does comes back to his ambitions, and he can't have children, he'll be more interested in dating a single mother.
+ Work mates.  If you're in his department feel free to get annoyed at him for never being there or ignoring your owls or just generally being an uppity tosser.

Michael Corner
Now I grow wings and rage.  I learn how to kill.

Michael is a healer who specialises in the mind (but he'll fill any healing role you need, because we don't have many St Mungo's staff).  

One of Michael's traits has always been that he has a hot temper and doesn't make much of a distinction between light and dark magic. Since Jenna was one of the students abducted to Ilvermorny, Michael is at the forefront of people trying to get change at Ministry.

Looking for:

+ other characters who are unhappy with the Ministry - for any reason
+ other characters whose children were affected by the Ilvermorny plot
+ anyone who wants him to drop in on them at St Mungos (as always)
+ Friends from school - I think we have some contemporaries now?

Terry Boot-Corner
I want you to know but I don't want to tell you
CW: social anxiety, implied self harm, mentions of previous addiction

Terry works as an unspeakable at the Ministry.  Among friends, he's less discreet than he should be when it comes to not speaking.  

Owing to a history of social anxiety and needing to please people, he's a lot more laid back than Michael and often usually acts as a mediator when the two are in company.

Also he's an Order member.

Needs:

+ Friends - if your character went to school with him, they're more likely to be friends with him than Michael, tbh.
+ Work mates - dept. of mysteries assemble!
+ Order pals - do we get on, do we hate each other?
+ @Adrienne Reynolds - maybe a thread with Oliver giving him a dressing down for bringing Michael to the last meeting?

Re: Ollie - Totally. I haven't been able to use him in ages. I think it'll turn quite quickly, though, into a sort of empathetic 'how are the kids' thing. Because Oliver isn't half as intimidating as he likes to think.

That's fine, Terry isn't intimidating in the least, and he won't have Michael there to prod him into standing up for himself.

Also, I just wondered what Destrey would think of Dax if they met. Because I don't think she would've been teaching before he graduated, since that was over two years ago. But they're both rather curious, I think.

Destrey's only 21. She wouldn't have been a teacher but she'd have gone to school with him. And she would probably have noticed someone like Dax. She might even have tried to befriend him.

Ideaaaas.

Selwyn : Perhaps he talks to Teddy about Adrienne issues? Teddy doesn't know her, I don't think, and I imagine that his counseling career sort of sticks with him in that people open up. Maybe they chat over lunches?

Shylock : Lily's all his. I really need to focus on getting her wrapped up in more than Apollily stuff (barely even sorry) and I'm sure she needs excuses to get out of the castle. She's still new to the whole friends thing, but she at least understands what it's like to have some sort of issue that has a stigma attached.

Monroe : Perhaps Claire? I'm thinking that sort of cop and chief dynamic where she has to get on his case about something, and then relents to ask him how he's doing and how she can help. And it turns friendly?

Clair : I'm still trying to figure out what to do with Casey. They're both aggressive so either they'd make good enemies or excellent partners.

Michael : If he needs people frustrated with the Ministry, Jack and Kip are his. I'm sure with Terry working in the Unspeakables that he heard about what Jack did and how the Ministry responded. I'm not sure how he'd feel about it.

Terry : Jack's always up for Unspeakable work. My next plan was to have her investigate a series of unexplained muggle disappearances that Law Enforcement doesn't have the time for, but I've sort of Headcanoned that ever since her suspension, she's forced herself to take on more mundane work, so I'm sure she'd love to get in on someone else's work, or just interrupt the tedium with good conversation.

Dax is really bad at the friends things. But! If he finds value in someone, it is... possible that he might risk sticking his neck out on some level. But only if he was actually certain things would go well. Like, if there was an actual risk, he wouldn't do it, but if he could over-plan something o make it look like he was taking a risk, he would do it.

My thoughts, though: I'd like him to think he has planned sufficiently on something and get proven wrong so he'll have to work to up his game. So if she needs help with something shady, he might be game.

If not, I'd like to think that eventually he will need someone else, so I'm also open to him being in a vulnerable, desperate spot if I can come up with something.

Destrey doesn't make friends, she just manipulates people.  Should've been clearer.  
Shylock and Destrey used to be partners in crime, in the sense that she manipulated him into doing things he didn't want to do.  I kinda like the idea of her picking up someone else for that (whether through manipulation or because he actually wants to do it) now that Shylock isn't speaking to her.

Jack

Oooh yeah I think Selwyn would like Teddy but might also annoy him too.  He is bound to bring up the metamorph thing.

Skip forward from the Shylock & Lily coffee thing?  Also she'll probably have Selwyn acting all weird around her if you want some of that.

We have to plot Monroe and Claire anyway, so that's a good way in.

I wanted to get Clair involved with PA eventually, so if Casey makes friends with him, could that work?  Just... don't expect him to talk about feelings, he has too many that would take all day.

Michael is just a ball of anger right now.  He's not gonna be concerned with other people's motives until Terry talks some sense into him, and Terry's gonna be distracted for a bit.

Terry can talk to Jack about charms development if you like?  And rant at length about incantation language restrictions.
