We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

House Meeting - Page 2 Empty Re: House Meeting

Post by Apollo Zabini Wed Apr 13, 2016 1:49 pm

At first, Apollo was fairly happy to just sit back and see what would happen, but he would not be able to do so for very long, because Aideen had him pegged. He wasn't fully surprised, considering his housemates loved to know everything about the other people they lived with. He wasn't someone he felt qualified for that list, given he was actually a bit too lazy to keep tabs on most of them or to gossip. If they were interesting, that would perhaps be a different story.

Sitting forward a bit and resting his elbow on his chair's armrest, Apollo made a 'well...' gesture with his hands. "I wasn't aiming for the captain slot, but I know the game. I can find people who will match the rest of the team if need be."

Lifting one shoulder in a shrug, he added, "I don't know that all of the team is fully... invested. Most of us, clearly, are not even here. But perhaps they would be more attentive to announcements if they knew we were holding auditions."

House Meeting - Page 2 Empty Re: House Meeting

Aideen's lips curled back in annoyance at Clytemnestra's words as images of punching her in the face flashed through her mind. But that would not be a smart move.

Instead she put a smile on her face, "At least he has friends to nominate him unlike you" Aideen said a certain malicious look in her eyes, "connections with people are power remember? Or did you just forget what house we're in for a moment there" she quoted changing her voice to imitate Clytemnestra's.

Aideen leaned forward resting her chin on her hand. She actually had never spoken to Zabini before the meeting but after Clytemnestra's comment she would make sure he got that qudditch captain position no matter what she had to do. Aideen looked at the professors, "I would think the position of qudditch captain ought to go to someone who is actually likeable. Do you really think the team will want train with and actually do well if their captain is some self centred, arrogant girl who doesn't even understanding the meaning of the word team?".

Apollo had never intended to go out for any position other than the one he already had, but Clytemnestra's reaction lit a bit of a fire under him and made him sit forward. He was preparing to comment when Aideen did instead, perhaps not helping the situation fully. He did appreciate the vote of confidence, but he didn't doubt that the other girl would take it negatively.

To be honest, though, he wasn't sure what he had done to deserve the other student's praise, other than, perhaps, the fact that he was a year ahead of her? Apollo couldn't say. He didn't mind, particularly, though.

"I merely showed up to ensure that my spot on the team wouldn't be taken away," he informed her firmly. "You can choose to believe that or not, and I can't say it bothers me either way."

Turning towards their head of house, Apollo opened his hands into a gesture that suggested he was already exasperated. "Has no-one ever thought of doing co-captains? I don't even want it that much but if people are going to be annoyed, maybe that's an option. Or a deputy captain sort of deal? I'll do whatever's asked of me, but unnecessary drama is not my thing."

House Meeting - Page 2 Empty Re: House Meeting

"Of course" Aideen said with a smile and slight nod of the head in response to the professor. She had thought one of the group might say something similar after her little team speech, and if she had to turn up and fly around for show then she would though a small voice in the back of her mind reminded her that Aideen really only was any good at sports where she had two feet on the ground.

Aideen bit her lip as Selwyn brought up the real reason for her attendance at the meeting. Prefecture. As a fourth year she would be eligible for a position as a prefect next year and Aideen wanted that position. What better way to get what she wanted and deter people she disliked then a prefect position? Naturally there would be some additional responsibilities but Aideen was confident she could more then manage otherwise she wouldn't be bothered showing interest in the position. She looked at Clytemnestra almost certain that the sixth year girl would be wanting a prefect position just as bad as she did. At the thought Aideen stopped biting her lip and hid a smile finding the idea of competition for a position highly entertaining after all where was the fun in life without a little competition? But naturally whether or not there would be any competition depended a fair bit on Apollo's response.

Apollo could only hope that Clytemnestra felt placated in some way by his response and that of their head of house, but he was more than happy to let Professor Thorfinn change the subject. Thrilled, actually. At least, until the conversation somehow came back to him. Since when had people put this much faith in him?

Or perhaps they were just worried that the two girls would tear each other to bits. They'd already started down that path, so he couldn't say he would be surprised. Amused, actually, would fit his feelings about the whole thing. Indeed, it could be quite fun to watch them try. Considering each year had traditionally been given two prefects each, he wasn't sure how he felt about there just being two. Perhaps it was better, in the end, if only because they could watch these two have it out.

Apollo shook his head firmly. "I had no intention of getting involved in that, professor. If these two want it so badly," he went on, gesturing to the girls sat around him, "then perhaps they should get a chance to prove they won't murder each other. Or our classmates."

Aideen covered her mouth with her hand in a polite attempt to hide her grin. Really murder was a bit extreme. As much as Aideen might dislike the company of some Slytherin students murder was a bit strong of a word to use. It would more be like socially destroy or severely injure, if of course, it came to such extremes.

Aideen looked at Professor Thorfinn, if Zabini was his last hope at preventing both Clytemnestra and her having a position it seemed he was out of luck. The boy did seem to be quiet genuinely uninterested in an leadership role, which of course presented its own set of problems. After all Aideen had just sworn to get him in to the quidditch captain role despite his lack of interest. But Aideen had already begun to formulate her own plans about that matter. After all sometimes you didn't have to want the position to get it. Sometimes you just had to be the only one good enough or likeable enough to get it.

Cooperate huh? Aideen looked over at Clytemnestra sizing the older girl up. There was no hope of true cooperation that much had been clear since the other girl had opened her mouth, but Aideen felt confident she could pretend long enough to make sure the other girl never got her position. Naturally she would have to be smart about it Thorfinn was no fool, he was head of Slytherin house after all.

Aideen stood up and smiled at Clytemnestra, "I look forward to working with you" she said and then looked at the professor. "Is there anything else Professor?" She asked him more out of politeness then anything else. After all they had already sorted quidditch trials and prefects, so Aideen couldn't think of there being much else they would need to discuss.

(( Haha that's okay I think we've all been busy with real life stuff anyway ))
