MAYHEM AT THE MINISTRY
____________________________
The recent developments within the marriage law will not be news to most however one thing that the nation may not have predicted would come this soon was a riot. A large scale riot that took place within the Ministry Of Magic yesterday. Of course riots were inevitable for people can only take so long of being told what and what they can't do for nor valid reason before a retaliation. Alas, the riots have began.
Throughout the early hours of yesterday morning employees within the department of magical law enforcement began their attack on citizens who didn't agree to the marriage law, people with more important things on their mind than an illegal law that is frightening and destroying wizarding Britain.
To start with lets discuss the matter with students. It appears the Ministry believe they can enter any place they like with or without a warrant as students, who are mere victims to this atrocious law, found themselves chained and dragged from The Great Hall during a peaceful pre-exam Breakfast. Our own sons, daughters, brothers and sisters are being deprived of their education, abducted by auror's who march into the Hogwarts grounds unannounced to lock students away deep within the bowels of the Ministry. Why do they think they can do this? Because of the marriage law, the law that, technically, shouldn't really be a law considering it's illegality. Our children's futures were affected yesterday. Yesterday we as a nation allowed the ministry to scare and frighten the futures of our nation, the seeds of greatness that will one day govern our country.
Of course it wasn't simply students who were sentenced to an unwarranted arrest but people from the age of eighteen to one hundred and eight. Shops in Diagon Alley found themselves without workers and customers, St Mungo's found itself without healers and nurses and the ministry found itself with a more unnecessary paperwork when they could be better spending their time capturing dark wizards still at large, such as Felix Barker (see tomorrow's issue). Society broke down: the economy was hit, the education took a punch and our safety was compromised. How does the ministry respond?
'It's outrageous!' One senior law enforcement official, who wishes to remain anonymous, stated. 'Locking those people away is for the good of our nation and there is a full blown riot! Outrageous!'
This doesn't portray a pleasant impression on the ministry of magic now does it? Their own workers are in favour of yesterdays actions and more to that the majority were in full support for the 190 Galleon bail fee! We once lived in a society where even those from less fortunate backgrounds could have every equal opportunity to defend themselves. Now? Now the remaining people starved in the holding cell are those who can't afford bail. What a fair system the Ministry of Magic is employing.
Where will our bail money be going? Where will the government invest this hefty reward for their brutal behaviour? You may think this extra gold will help the magical economy. Wrong. Instead it wont be donated to St Mungo's, it wont be used to develop new potions or support our children's education, but will be used as fuel to further their illicit marriage law. But why should we pay for this? Why should the ministry be horrified that their citizenry is objecting to their actions? Why don't they understand that it is a crime? There is one simple answer to that. The imperius curse.
The Imperius curse, one of the unforgivable curses, was most popular in the age when He Who Must Not Be Named found power in the ministry. Are we seeing this again? Is the person behind the forgery of this 'law' someone who should be feared? Evidently so. However that doesn't mean we shouldn't rise for our right to choose. If the Ministry of Magic believes that yesterdays riots were unreasonably then perhaps the message from the people wasn't strong enough. If the rioters I managed to speak to are serious that their 'riot to choose' hasn't even began then the Ministry perhaps revaluate this law before they have a full scale revolution on their hands.
We are finally fighting the strings from the puppet master and proving that the master never has, nor will, have power. The power is in the people and their 'riot to choose'.
