Jack loved having the power to amuse her little family, and almost wished they were all present for this wonderful response. On one hand, she knew that Sunny would have had the best reaction of all, but she also knew that the little girl would be even worse than her. Sunny would never forget it, bringing it up when the joke wasn't even clever, and Max would surely be driven into insanity. And as funny as that would be at first, Jack knew they would all tire out of losing the most sane person in the house's rational mind, so she knew it would be best if this joke were kept strictly for the adults.
Gabby was flabbergasted. It had been a long time since she had been able to pull the upper hand on Gabby, be the one to shock him for a change. Their casual friendship had mostly been her walking into a room in the middle of the night to find him stealing the rest of her wolfsbane as well as an armchair or two. So it was nice to see a look of surprise on the face that usually caused the expression on herself. She turned her eyes away from Gabby, who's violent reaction had distracted her, and looked back to Max.
The shame on his face was almost enough to make her feel bad. But then she remembered how brave and bold he had been in making the decision to don a sheet and a sheet only and she felt much less bad. Her smirk continued to lift and she said, "Actually, if I recall, it was very funny."
Gabby leaned in to Max and said, "Did you try to hook up with the Queen?"
Jack raised an eyebrow. "What?"
Gabby glanced up at her. "Please, your majesty, I'm addressing Your Royal Booty Call-"
Before he could even begin to react, she had tossed a wooden spoon at his head. "OW!"
