ATTENTION NEWT STUDENTS
Tonight after the evening meal at seven o clock I will be hosting a group workshop in the charms classroom on the second floor. This will be an opportunity for an informal introduction where we can get to understand each other and discuss anything you may want to whether it be goals, suggestions or unresolved questions.
I hope to see you there and if not I look forward to meeting you at some point around the castle. Whether you are studying NEWT charms or not it doesn't make a difference. All are welcome.
Kind Regards
Professor A. Cooper
Professor of Charms
Ravenclaw Head of House
That was the notice Amelia had pinned on the Ravenclaw notice board earlier that morning. She wasn't entirely sure how many students would read it, hopefully the majority seeing as it was the start of term and the Ravenclaw students would be keen to be updated with any changes or bullet points that were for their attention.
Admittedly Amelia had been rather looking forward to it all day. She hadn't had any charms classes with her Ravenclaw's today so it would be a nice way to introduce them. After re-reading the notice multiple times the new head of house had worried whether calling it a 'workshop' was the best description. In her first draft it had been a 'meet and greet', then in the second a 'get together' although Amelia didn't want it to come across too casual, after all it was no party.
Draining the final splashes of water in her goblet Amelia dusted her mouth off with a napkin, raised from her seat at the staff table and headed out of the Great Hall, walking between the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw table as she did do - smoking as the few heads that had turned her way. It was only naturally for eyes to follow her, she was new after all.
Amelia had two offices at Hogwarts. Her main office on the seventh floor not too far from Ravenclaw Tower. It was here where she would spend most of her time: marking work, sleeping in the room branching from it, writing letters, planning lessons. However there a small study located from the charms corridor that, in times gone by, the charms Professors would have used. However in her day, much like this day, the charms professor (Filius Flitwick) was also Ravenclaw Head of House and had used the room mainly for storage and keeping spare books and paperwork. Likewise, Amelia had decided to do the same.
Originally Amelia had planned to sit at the charms classroom desk whilst the students would stagger in after a hefty meal but she had fifteen minutes to spare so decided to take a look into the charms 'office'. Clearly the previous teacher had not dusted at all - perhaps the previous instructor hadn't used the office at all, after all there was no bedroom attached. Mountains of past exam papers cluttered a desk that took up half of the room whilst bookshelves of ancient spellbooks stood strong around the Walls. There was a single window, which too was coated in a thick sheet of dust. 'This really does need sorting out.' Amelia muttered to herself taking in the office's belongings.
It was twenty minutes later when Amelia, after flicking through several spellbooks, discovering a potted plant and repairing the moth eaten curtains realised how time had flown. She was five minutes late for her 'workshop.' Oh well, at least she was only next door. Dropping a heavy book on the desk she brushed gathering of dust from her midnight blue robes and left the office, heading for the room next door: the charms classroom.
(OOC: feel free to all settle in and chat among yourselves until Amelia gets there)
