Kate was dressing Julia for the day when she clearly heard the bellowing from downstairs. It was not good. Kate could feel the fear and the panic. She put Julia on the floor and dropped a pair of pumpkin colored socks for Julia to go with her brown corduroy pants and the tan colored shirt with the happy little pumpkin appliques.
"Would you help Julia with her socks, please?" Kate asked Cassidy quietly. She heard Robert in his room. Robert was alarmed. He was heading downstairs. Robert had been hiding himself away, but this was the first in a long time he had attempted to leave his room.
And as she turned to go downstairs, she got a strong, brief aroma of Turkish cologne. Then she saw a very clear apparation of Remus in front of her with a serious look on his face.
"Khaat," Kate said very softly. It was the only thing that would make Remus work so hard to be noticed. "Oh, God. And Robert knows. Somehow he knows."
Kate saw Robert in the hallway. "Robert," she called, careful to not try to touch him. "Please. Please, wait. Let me. I'll come right back and..."
Robert whirled on her, rage in his eyes. He knew something was wrong, and he wasn't waiting.
"Alright," she said softly. She carefully made her way to go around him, in front of him. Then she turned back around and looked at him carefully, knowing no easy way to break it to him. "Robert..." she said softly. "I just saw Remus. Just now."
Robert frowned deeply, knowing this was very serious indeed. Kate went downstairs and saw Jim there. Robert came down right behind her.
"It's Khaat, isn't it?" Kate asked, fearing the worst. "Tell me first--is she alive? Then tell me what happened."
