Marriage is Murder

Jess chuckled and nodded as she moved to pull a chair over to them and sat down waiting for his deal. " I agree with Khaat , try nobody so far has done that yet" she said and chuckled. Jack smiled and nodded he agreed.

" yes I can see it on his face" he said and walked over to the bed " so how long untill you think he can go home." he asked knowing how evern long it would be he would stay and watch over him.

"You have your assignment," Angus looked at Michael.

"Okay," Michael said. "I'll write them down, and you do with them as you see fit. Anything except a major publication. Enough for us, but no more than that. Understand me?"

"Yes, Sir," Angus laughed.

"You do more than that, and I'll turn you into a sock and feed you to Otto," Michael said. Angus just waved him away, unconcerned.

"I'm wondering if perhaps he's going to be good enough to get him home this evening. Its hard to tell since we're not even close to lunch yet. But if he eats lunch and dinner, then we might be able to get him home later tonight. The biggest thing he's going to need is rest, so if all else goes well, we might be able to let him do that at home."

Cassidy was looking through a draw when she found a small black book opening it she saw recipys and smiled walking into the Hallway " any one lose this , I found it in a draw in the kitchen" she said and held it up so they could see. Jack in the Hospital nodded his head.

"Ow..Of course, if he eats he's home, if not hes in longer" he said hoping he had heard Robert right in his dyagnosis. Jack moved to stand back at the doorwaiting. Back at the main house Steven had checked the barn and green house he walked back in with a large basket of flower, fruits and vegtables.

" so what can you do with this lot Angus?" he asked smiling as they settled on the table.

Angus looked at the book. "Yes. That's the one. I haven't used it in awhile. I have most of the recipes in my head by now."

When Steven came in, Angus looked at the basket. "Well, I probably won't ask you all to eat the flowers. Yes, I know they're edible, but its not everyone's cup of tea. But the rest of it is very workable, I think. As for what I'm doing with it, I think you'll have to wait for lunch to see." He grinned.

"That means he doesn't have a clue," Michael said.


"Not true. I know exactly what I'm doing. Its very French."

"Stir Fry isn't French," Michael teased.

"It isn't stir fry," Angus said. "You're not going to weasel it out of me."


"Well," Robert said. "Eating is only part of it. I do want him to eat. And I want him to get some fluids. But, I'm concerned about how his vitals stabilize over the next few hours. The rest will help. I'm just making a guess about when I might be able to move him home at the soonest."

Cassidy handed the book to him and smiled seeing Steven with all the veg and fruit. " I'll take the flowers and put them in the right rooms " she said and chuckled " ow much be good if hes keeping it close to his chest" she said now loking forward to lunch as she knew it would be something good. Steven put the veg and fruit away as Cassidy left with the flowers to place them in each room.

Jack nodded even though he hardly understood any of what Robert had said it wasn't untill a healer walked up behind him that she explained more in laymans terms and he chuckled smiling as he thanked her " yes it would be good if he was more stable" he said softly.

"He's getting creative," Michael laughed. "This could be dangerous."

"You'll have to wait and see."

Upstairs, Khaat and Marcus played a few hands of gin until she dozed off, and eventually ended up with her head on his shoulder. He was fine with it. He was fast learning to consider her a friend, and it didn't bother him in the least that she was resting on him. He was comfortable to sit and drink his tea in the quiet, playing some solitaire.

Jess played with them untill she saw Khaat dozing on Belbys shoulder and she smiled " she should be in bed resting" she said softly so she would not disterb Khaat " I'll leave that to you" she said and smiled " I have to make sure the kids arn't being too much of a nucance for steven " she said placing her cards face up " thats gin I belive?" she said smiling as she turned and left the room but she paused at the door " watch her like a hawk Belby." after that she headed to the nursary finding Steven being used as a horse and she laughed.

Cassidy chuckled and nodded " can't wait to taste what ever it is he is making, its not often a ginny pig wants to be part of the experament" she said and grinned at Angus.

Brian woke before lunch time and called for Robert. Robert hadn't gone far. He went over to the bed.

"How are you feeling?" Robert asked.

"Like I've been here forever," Brian groaned.

"Barely 24 hours," Robert said. "And you've been out of it for most of that. How can you be so restles already?"

"I want to go home," Brian said, trying to sit up. Robert moved to help him.

"Alright, wait. Wait. I'm not opposed to you going home, but you do it on my conditions."

"I'm doing it on my conditions," Brian said. He swung his legs out of the bed, and the heavy cast banged on the floor. He groaned, loudly, in pain.

"Told you," Robert said calmly. "You're going to have to settle back until you hear me out, now that you seem to have your wits about you again. Jack, a hand, please? My boy here seems to have gotten a burst of energy."

Jack turned on hearing Brians voice he stepped into the room and stood watching , when he was called he picked Brian up and placed him back in bed. "yes he has, best do as he says." He said softly and stepped back smiling from the bed. Jack stood waiting he knew Robert would let Brian home but he was just there to make sure Brian did not do anything silly again.

"Do you think he will keep that energy or will it pass?" He asked and smiled pulling the blankets back over Brian on the bed. " Im guessing that cast might have to stay a while longer." he looked to Robert hoping he was not wrong.

"I need to get home," Brian insisted.

Robert looked at Jack. "Nah. That's just him. He's here, and he's not where his family is. That's the workaholic in him. And it bugs him that his thinking's been buggered up."

"He's right here," Brian scowled. "You do have a bad habit of that, Robert."

"Ignore him," Robert said to Jack, with a slight grin. "Anyway, I think he'd do alright at home--if he's prepared to be honest with himself about what he can and can't do. That cast is going to be with him for a few weeks. It was a bad break. He'll be on crutches for awhile. At least a month, I'm wagering. Then he might be able to get along with a walking cast and a cane for a couple weeks. Then, if we can take the cast off, he might get by with a cane until he strengthens his leg again. It might make the rest of you busier for awhile if neither Khaat or Brian can do as much as they're used to doing."
