Robert left Angus in Edward's care as Angus was drifting off to sleep. Robert expected Angus to sleep most of the day. He headed back downstairs to try to get something to eat before he had to leave for work.
"How's Angus?" Kate asked, handing Robert his tea again.
"Sleeping," Robert said.
"I presume that's better," Kate said.
"Than being unconscious? Definitely," Robert said. "He should be feeling somewhat better by tonight. He might well be up tomorrow, but I don't know if he'll be up to working yet--not at full force."
"We'll take what we can get," Kate said.
"Agreed," Robert said. "What's with the kids today?"
"I think they're excited because they got to camp out in the nursery last night," Kate laughed, watching them at the table.
"Ah. I see," he said. "Is the newspaper here yet?"
"Not sure," Kate said.
Outside, Brian was up a tall ladder starting to work on the transformer when he heard Jack calling from the ground.
"This thing is such a pain in the butt," Brian sighed. "Every time it storms, I have to repair it. It took a hard hit in an electrical storm shortly after I built the house, years and years ago. Blasted the transformer, and damned near burned the house down. And since then, I've been nursing it through from one storm to the other." He turned the screwdriver to loosen a wire and the transformer crackled and spit sparks at him. He sighed, frustrated with it.
