GENERAL APPEARANCE: Peeves appears like a small portly man, who wears loud and outlandish clothing. Unlike a ghost, he appears solid and is not transparent. The appearance he takes is a man in his 30s or 40s, with crazy-looking brown hair and brown eyes. He has expressive eyebrows and mouth, making him able to twist his face into any assortment of expressions.

DEMENTOR: Any time Peeves is prevented from carrying out his dastardly deeds is a horrible memory.

PERSONALITY: Peeves prides himself in the fact that he is a terror to everyone around him, and pays no attention to class, gender, House, or station. Teachers are annoyed as much as students, albeit sometimes a little less when they cast a binding spell on him. That tends to ward Peeves away until he can stew up a sufficient revenge. Peeves is big on revenge, particularly against the teachers that tie his tongue up with spells. They will always get their comeuppance when they least expect it. Peeves also has a great sense of self. That is…his only goal in life is to make fun of everybody, thereby making himself above everyone! He believes he is ultimately superior to everybody in every way, and every single one of his jokes is a jewel. His entire existence is bent on making himself giggle at every turn, though never at his own expense. He has no guidance and no self-restraint, and everything he does is on a whim. What is interesting to him at the moment, is what he’ll be doing. He has a one-track mind, and if he gets bored, he'll merely find a way to make things more interesting.

CHARACTER HISTORY

History: In 993 AD, four wizards going by the names of Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin decided to make a school. Each wizard had their own idea on how the school should be run and the caliber of student should be allowed in. The tension between the founders began as a whisper in the ear...a voice prodding them, putting ideas into their heads about how their ideas were the best, and the other three would be the downfall of the school in its stage of infancy. The longer the four founders dwelled on their differences, the higher the tension rose within the school. It came to its climax right before the start of Hogwart's first year. Salazar Slytherin was not happy with Godric's solution to their problem of which students to admit, and a bitter duel broke out between the two right under the nose of the newly born Sorting Hat. Each threw a spell at the other, but the spells were deflected in mid-air by Rowena's interference. Godric's spell rebounded against the walls of Hogwarts, creating a few walls which pretended to be doors and ending up on the Seventh Floor where it formed the Room of Requirement. Salazar's spell hit the winding staircase, which began to move and rotate; and wherever the spell hit as it rebounded up the staircase, a trick step formed which would trap the legs and feet of unwary students. Without another word, Salazar left the school, leaving the twisting stairs that no one was ever able to fix. Above the resulting hubbub of voices, a cackling began to make itself heard...a cackling which sounded so much like the voice which had whispered discontent into the ears of the Founders. Peeves had been born from the intense negative energy formed between the Founders, and as long as there was always negative energy at the school available for him to feed on, Peeves would always stay.....
