Serena Smith Vs. Matthew Lestrange

Keep in mind a few key things:

1. Bring the arena surroundings and maybe a little background into the story. The stage will be the same for everyone and feel free to manipulate it with magic.

2. Try to keep your posts to a MAXIMUM of 8 paragraphs. This is a duel, hurry and get down to work.

3. While in a duel your character will not have the time to cast hundreds of spells. For this reason, you are limited to casting a MAXIMUM of 3 spells per post.

4. Remember: Your characters are not invincible. Be realistic. Even though they will not die in this competition, let them get hurt if you feel your opponent has made a great attack.

5. Also, unless your opponent reveals themselves, you do not know one another. Keep in mind that you cannot hear their thoughts and predict their every move. You will be asked to edit your post should you act upon knowledge your character does not have.

6. Whoever is the second duelist to post MUST play off of what their opponent has established. Note: You do not have to make an attack on your opponent during every post. You can instead defend yourself and stage a greater series of events along the way.

7. Everyone will have a designated time in which to post. Do not keep you opponent waiting any longer than necessary and please try to avoid last minute posting. We want this to be as fair as possible and that will take a little work from all of us. If you haven't already, please read the RULES to dueling. If you are unfamiliar with how to write a duel read this simple SAMPLE.

The Scene:You and your opponent have entered a small underground arena. There are trees, shrubbery as well as large and small boulders all throughout the area. A pond resides in the center of the arena and fog continuously rolls off its banks. Your peers surround the arena to watch the duel. Demetri walked to the center of the arena. "Let's begin," he said as a light flashed from his wand leaving the duelists to take over the scene.

Matt strolled into the underground arena at a steady pace. He had been itching for a duel quite a bit over the past few weeks. He looked around, taking in his environment through the eye holes in the mask. There was a crowd gathering now, he wasn't sure how much he enjoyed that. A crowd might affect a wizards dueling style for the worse. He had to have a bit of style without being to ridiculous or stupid. He reached into the pocket of his trousers and pulled out his wand. At his touch it gave off heat, she was prepared. He smirked.

He loosened his tie a bit and adjusted his mask to suit his vision better. He spaced his footing, taking on a stance of preparedness. He was ready for this duel, he was ready to win. He wasn't going to make the first move. He'd rather know as much about his opponents strategy rather than going in blind. He twirled his wand between the fingers on his right hand and then grasped it firmly.

"Ready." he said quietly to himself.

Battle Suit

Serena walked to arena, she had her mask on. She looked around awhile then she looked at her opponent. She had no idea what to do now actaully. She had no expierence of duelling actually. She just came here because... she actually don't know why.

Any way she tried to think of some kind od strategy now but she had really no idea what spell use or what to do. She had forgetten all spells already with on year when she didn't use magic very much. She just didn't need it. "Expulso," she said, it was only spell what came to her mind she exploded some rocks near her opponment. She is not very sure that she can win this match. "I should have tried to remember some spells before," she thought there now.

"Expellimellius" said she and put a tree on fire for some reason, what she even don't know. It was just next spell what she remembered and she decided use every spell what she can think of.

Matt could tell that this opponent had very little dueling experience. Judging from her age alone was a bit of a weak assumption however once the duel had begun his guess had become fact. He quickly pointed his wand at the rocks flying towards him "Wingardium Leviosa!" he shouted quickly. The rocks froze in the air and under his control. With a slight smirk he swung his wand towards his opponent much like a sword and the rocks followed. They were small rocks, not enough to fatally hit her but enough to give her some cuts and bruises.

He was going to have an easier time that he thought. And as the rocks were still flying in the air he pointed his wand at them. "Bombarda!" he yelled loudly as the rocks exploded even more. There was even less of a deadly impact now. But there was still a large chance than she'll leave slightly injured.
