Finally.. health and happiness

Rise had not had the best summer ever.. in fact it had been the worst summer of her entire life. She had managed to get a job in the red light district of London, the area that men went for entertainment, and she had gotten a job as a dancer to support her own life. Luckily this place she worked at had rooms for people who were like her, homeless, out of luck, and in need of something to do.

She lived above the place she worked with six or seven other girls, learning new dance moves, and songs, practicing in skimpy outfits and showing off what body she had, they fed her to keep her looking healthy, and overall had kept her from being completely down and out. After telling them about her school however, they had agreed that they would take her in next summer as well, and agreed to keep a spot open for her in the house above the club. So unless something new came up, she was set for next summer, and even had a bit of cash in her pocket for the school year.

So going onto the platform wasn't so bad, she at least looked relatively healthy, her skin was pale, and she had definitely lost some weight, her body had a more slender look to it, and she had put on muscle, from all the dancing, but she didn't look too bad for what she had been through. She wore simple jeans that hugged her in all the right places, and a yellow tank top with a jacket over it, her shoes were heels, some of the only shoes she owned these days besides her school shoes. She pushed her cart which held her trunk on it, in front of her and looks around the platform silently.

She had arrived early, and in fact so early there was barely anyone on the platform, so she had no trouble getting onto the train, finding a compartment and curling up in her seat next to the window, staring out onto the platform to watch as people arrived.

I still think it was all a stupid joke.

The vampire said. Ryo actually believed him right now. It must've all just been a joke. Because seriously, who in their right mind would choose him to be a Prefect? If anything he was the least qualified to do anything like that, like seriously, he was like the most antisocial person in the entire school, probably. And the fact that he admitted it probably showed that it was the truth. But it seemed that everything had been true and he stared down at the badge with a yellow and black background with a badger on it and a huge P printed on top.

Sighing he lifted the hand that held the badge up to his shirt and he clipped it onto the shirt on the left side. His hands almost immediately dropped afterwards and he stared blankly outside the window of the Prefect's compartment. They'd all had a short meeting there and while the rest of them had left to do whatever they wanted, he'd stayed behind to just spend some time alone there. He still couldn't believe that only he and James Rosier were seventh years, most of the others didn't even make it to their fifth year yet. Probably like two or three of them were past their fifth year, excluding him and James.

I need some air.

Ryo got up from where he sat and he opened the compartment door. Leaning against it for a moment, he wondered if it was such a good idea to leave the compartment right now. It's not like he couldn't just open the window and be comfortable in there. But that was the problem, he didn't want to be inside the compartment anymore, and though he honestly didn't understand why he just figured it was best to get out. So instead of just standing there, Ryo sighed heavily and pushed himself off the side of the door and he began to walk down the hall, trying to at least start acting like a Prefect.

Rise had grown up a lot since the end of the summer previously. No longer did she look down on herself as an unworthy human being, mostly because she wasn't human, but she had grown to accept who she was, having worked out in the open, her body open for viewing and sometimes if her manager called for it, touching, she had grown to just stop worrying about it, and let her mind wander. She had grown quiet, thoughtful, and more personal, less likely to grow attached to someone she had just met.

In fact.. she had changed completely, her mind was closed off, and she honestly didn't care if people saw her scar. She went from wearing scarves all the time, and high necked shirts, to wearing her uniform without a scarf, sitting where the scar literally was in plain view. She had told her customers that she had gotten it in a car accident a long time ago, and they believed it completely, what else could it be anyway?

Rise stared out her window before glancing into the hallway, people were starting to board the train, and it was getting busier, she knew it would eventually get to the point where someone would enter her compartment and she would be forced into the company of others, though she was pretty sure they would leave her alone if she didn't talk much.

His mind had begun to wander as he walked around and even though there were plenty of things he saw other students doing that he could repremand them for doing, he didn't do anything about it. He just left them there and they stared after him, knowing that he was a prefect yet he'd left them alone. That would bring him trouble later on in the year, but right now he could care less about that. He just wanted to get away from everyone who was there, but suddenly he froze at the sound of his name being called by that oh so familiar ... and annoying squeaky voice that seemed to haunt him.

"Ry-Ry!"

He turned slightly to see Sarah running up to him and he swore under his breath. She was the last person he wanted to see and he wondered if had been looking for him right now. He really didn't want to know though, but he needed to find a way to get her away from him. She knew about Evalyn, although he wondered if she thought it was fake, since he was never around the girl whom he'd always stated was his girlfriend. Maybe that was why she'd never left him alone, because she'd never seen any proof of him having a girlfriend.

Damn it.

He turned around again and started to walk away from Sarah. He hoped that she'd know that he didn't want to talk to her and that she would go away, but then he realized - this was Sarah he was talking about. The girl who once almost followed him to the boys dormitories just because she felt like it, and who'd actually followed him into the bathroom because she wanted to talk to him. That had been really embarrassing, for both of them. He really just wanted her to go away, but she never did and he wondered what he could do to stop her from following him around ... she really had to get a boyfriend. And one that wasn't him.

"Ry-Ry!"

She called again in a whining tone and he turned his head to see that she was almost right behind him. He flinched and started to run even though he didn't want to run away from her. She obviously wasn't getting it though. His speed began to pick up and soon when he looked back she was a small figure down the hall, racing toward him. He hesitated and ran into the nearest compartment without even looking if anyone was in there. Either way, he was sure someone was, with his luck there always was. Although when he looked up at the person he was going to apologize to for randomly running into their compartment, the person he saw made him stop and all he could say was,

"Risé."

Rise heard the compartment door open and close quickly, and someone enter her compartment out of breath. She slowly looked up and her jaw nearly dropped when a certain vampire entered her compartment. He slowly turned around and looked like he was about to apologize when he stopped as well, and their eyes met. Rise could feel a flood of old emotions go running through her, her inner puppy picked up it's head and growled, glaring straight at him.

He had abandoned her.. and if the rumors were true, he was off all the time bewitching other girls. Rise's eyes fell to his shirt and she picked up his Prefect badge, her eyes narrowed slightly, before she looked him over once more and she could almost feet her teeth exposing themselves.

"What do you want Vampire?" She asked in a harsh tone, her voice soft, but carrying, cold, and yet still Rise. It was obvious even just from her voice that she had changed a lot in the last summer alone, and her body showed her strain. "If you have nothing important to say to me Prefect, I suggest you leave." She said and turned her face away from him to stare out at the platform again.

Get away.

The vampire immediately started screaming at Ryo, but the boy's body refused to move. No matter how much the vampire tried, his body would not move and the boy wasn't exactly doing anything to help the vampire. The boy never did anything to help the vampire, even if he knew he wouldn't stop anytime soon. All he could do was stare at Risé with the narrowed eyes the vampire had caused.

NOW. Get away now.

The vampire continued, growing more weary of the werewolf in front of him. Ryo couldn't blame him though, after all, she did seem to change a lot. She wasn't even wearing her scarf now. When Ryo finally realized the lack of her scarf, his eyes wandered down to where it usually sat, covering the scar she was so self conscious about. He blinked a couple of times, staring at it before he looked up at her face again. The vampire was still going crazy in his head and Ryo was trying to block him out, which was almost impossible when he was inside your head.

"Risé -"

He stared but was cut off by the compartment door being suddenly opened and someone throwing themself onto him, causing him to lurch forward and nearly fall on top of Risé. He managed to catch himself though, by putting his arms out onto the walls and pulling himself up so he didn't fall into her. His eyes had widened and he looked at the girl's face that was only a few inches away from his now. Ryo hesitated before lifting himself up away from her and looking down at the girl who was clinging onto him by the waist. He let an annoyed groan out as he realized who it was and he pried her off.

"Damn it Sarah! What the hell are you doing?!"

He shouted at her, momentarily forgetting about Risé. His eyes started to turn red as he stared at Sarah, waiting for her to make some excuse. But she didn't, she just stared past him, at the other girl who was sitting down. She frowned and Ryo could tell she was not happy about finding her in here with him. He winced a bit as she looked at him now, her eyes showing her anger at finding him here, but she still didn't say anything. She only raised an eyebrow at him and crossed her arms over her stomach. She wanted an explanation, but Ryo didn't want to give her one. He looked back and forth from Sarah and Risé a few times, but didn't say anything to either of them.

Risé couldn't help but be slightly startled when she turned to see Ryo's face mere inches from her own. "Merlin.." She muttered as he moved back quickly, and Risé's eyes slowly looked up at the other girl who entered the compartment, looking at Risé like she wanted to kill her.

"This is interesting.. seems your girlfriend wants to know why you're in a compartment with the likes of me." Risé said lightly, her eyes slowly moving to look back out the window, taking in the groups of people who were entering the platform, all carting trunks with owls and cats perched on top of them, calling to friends and kissing parents goodbye. Risé's eyes went back to the group that was in her compartment and she rolled her eyes.

"Calm your tits chick, there's nothing going on between the vamp here and me." She said indicating Ryo with a swift motion of her right hand, before letting it fall back onto her lap, and sighing, leaning back slightly, her scar completely visible on her chest. Anyone with fourth year education and higher would know exactly what it was, and still... she didn't hide it at all, which that motion alone proved the change in Risé.

"She is not my girlfriend!"

Ryo hissed at Risé. His eyes turned red in anger and he looked at Sarah. What the hell was he supposed to do now? He was trapped between the two of them and he doubted he'd be allowed to leave anytime soon. As he looked at the Veela girl, he noticed that she seemed sad now. Ryo sighed, he really didn't get her ... or any girl for that matter, she was angry a second ago but now after he'd said those few words, she was all sad. He looked down suddenly as he realized that it had been his words that had caused her to get all sad.

He didn't like it though. She knew that she wasn't his girlfriend, everyone did, well almost everyone. He looked at Risé for a moment then back at Sarah. What was he supposed to do now? He didn't want to hurt her feelings anymore than he already had. He really wasn't good with girls, yet they seemed to follow him around. What the hell was up with that? Was it because he was a Vampire? If it was, it just added to why he hated being one. He wished he could just change, be something besides a Vampire. But that would probably be impossible for him.

"Sarah ... You know you aren't my girlfriend. Why are you getting so sad about it?"

He asked the girl, his eyes still red, but they were changing rather quickly. Sarah lowered her head and held her hands in front of her. She played with a strand of her hair gently, trying to avoid answering his question. But Ryo wouldn't let her avoid it. "Why?" he inquirer again, and Sarah looked up at him, her eyes had tears in them. That just made Ryo feel even worse than he already did.

"Because I always had the hope that I someday would be."

She said in a shaky voice and she turned and ran out of the compartment without even letting Ryo say anything else to her. His head dropped and he turned around to face Risé. His eyes had changed from red to gray and his gray eyes now stared at the Werewolf in front of him. He looked her over once again and he sighed.

"What happened to you Risé?"

Risé smirked slightly when Ryo hissed at her that the chick wasn't his girlfriend. "Looks like she thinks she is." Risé muttered before turning her face away from the overly dramatic scene that was playing out in front of her. Seemed the girl wanted to date him, so she chased him around, and he didn't like her that way, so he angered her, and then made her really sad, and she went out, looking like she was about to burst into tears. Risé rolled her eyes slightly and looked up at Ryo as he turned around to look her over.

"What happened to you Risé?"

Risé glanced over at him and sighed slightly pulling her feet up onto the seat in front of her, her eyes focused on the Vampire for a long moment, before looking away, the puppy inside of her was whimpering and trying to get her to jump out the window or some shit. "Shut up idiot, he can't hurt us here.. besides, he's a prefect, he has to 'protect' us now." Risé hissed to her puppy side before sighing and leaning back against the seat.

"Life happened Ryo.. what happened to you?"

He felt bad. He admitted it, he felt bad for making Sarah sad like that. Maybe he needed to be clearer with her, maybe he needed to actually talk with her about why he couldn't share the same feelings she had. All he's really been doing is running away from her, making it seem like he's just too afraid. Maybe that's his problem, he needs to tell her that he just isn't interested in her that way. That was it, maybe ... just maybe she would finally get it.

"What do mean what happened to me? You're the one who changed, not me."

He told her. Although he felt like she was just trying to mock him. But there was no way of getting around the fact that she'd changed a lot. She didn't seem to care about exposing her scar anymore, when the year before she'd only wanted to coverit up no matter what. Which was why she always wore that scarf, even when it got really hot outside, or inside for that matter. He'd never seen her walk around without the scarf on and now there she was without it.

For some reason, he thought her change wasn't for the better. And he couldn't help but feel guilty about it, even though it wasn't technically his fault. Of course it wasn't you're fault, you idiot. You had nothing to do with her change. the vampire hissed at him, but Ryo couldn't help it. He felt like he had something to do with her being the way she was now.

"Why did you change?"

He asked her softly. He wanted to know why. And if he had something to do with it, maybe he did something and he didn't notice. He always seemed to be hurting people he cares about without even noticing. It wasn't fair to those people and he wasn't going to let it happen anymore. But he also knew that whatever he did wrong, he needed to try and fix. And he was going to start with Risé, even if she didn't want to let him.
