GENERAL APPEARANCE: Kaede is a feisty , tenacious and serious little halfling . She is not what you would consider your `standard female` of the species . Instead of having smooth , well rounded facial features that is so common in the fairer sex , her face is quite hardened and almost gaunt looking . Her eyes seem to sink deep into her face and her expression appears to be quite cold and emotionless . Her dark eyes , almost black in colour , appear to have a dull glaze about them and lack any kind of sparkle . Her cheeks are puffed out and rounded structure that forms her face . Her nose is small and pointed , not witch-like in any manner , rather lacking in any real substance to it . Her chin isn't very pointed and although it bereft of any kind of fatty tissue . Her overall skin colouring seems to be very pale and lacks any great depth in tone . Her rugged appearance alone , suggests that this little lady isn't very well used to living the outdoor life . She is not a typical `prim and proper` little lady and more often than not her hands , face and general appearance seems to be one that is adorned with cleanness and Flawless . Her nails are always neat and clean, with some type of nail polish on it . She is not participatory hygienic just her overall appearance suggests that she is a little afraid to get her hands dirty .
Her clothing also reinforces the fact that she isn't well versed in being able to survive in extremes of weather and have the ability to survive in the wilderness. She wears light, flowing dresses and skirts, with lots of layers over it, so her "chicken legs" aren't really displayed in public . A specially made pair of high-top sneakers adorn her feet . On her torso she wears a soft black hoodie or sweater which is hidden beneath a dark gray jacket . Her legs bear skin-tight black leggings which she tucks into the top of her high top sneakers.

CHARACTER HISTORY

Early Years: Kaede Lena Lynn was born on May 5, in north London, England. She was the second born to a set of twins, along with her sister, Jenny,to Bethany Lomas, an "arty mom" who was just 18 at the time of her birth, and a Welsh father, Steven, who left the family when Kaede and her sister were only 4 years old.

Steven, who married Bethany out of pity for the young mother, divorced her a few months later, only to remained in contact with his daughters up until thier teen years, when his problems with alcohol, and increasing estrangement from his daughters, caused their relationship to deteriorate. By contrast, Kaede and Jenny grew close to their mom, who encouraged her young daughters "to explore, and not to stick with one thing."

Early on, Kaede developed a passion for music. She gravitated toward the songs of Lauren Hill, Destiny's Child and Mary J. Blige. But When her parents got back together and remarried, Kaede couldn't be happier, until she and her sister had snuck out of their house, Kaede had tried to stop her sister from standing on the train tracks, Kaede, seeing the train coming before she could pull her sister out of the way, saw her twin sister hit. Kaede became depressed for days, letting her parents believe Jenny had ran away, while she really only was killed. It became weeks before Kaede saw her dead sister's ghost. Which scared and excited her. She had found out her sister wasn't ready to leave this planet and stayed. Causing Jenny and Kaede to tell their parents she had came home although she was now a ghost. Her sister was only 12 when she died. Although it almost shattered her life to pieces.

Hogwarts Years: Kaede had gotten her acceptance letter right after her sister was killed, and still went, her now ghost sister going with her secretly. She had almost no friends in her classes and decided it was for the best since she didn't want to be able to trust anybody enough to tell about her sister's secret. Kaede became very shy, not letting anyone in to be her friend, although she had always dreamed about finding true love.

Hello there!
Welcome to the site, perhaps? I don't know, we ask for names at the bottom of apps so i never know if someone's new or just making a new character >.>

Anyway.

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure if you read that we aren't allowing characters with mental disorders on the board, owing to the fact that we don't want to offend anyone who may suffer as a result of those disorders through a poor depiction of the disorder.

So I'm happy with her being very skinny, but not anorexic, as that falls under 'disorder'

Loving the reference to the cheshire cat.

I talked to her she said she looks it, but doesn't have the illnesses. her body type only says she looks that way, referring to she's very thin

Unfortunately, because of site rules, we need her to edit the wording. The reference to her body type being anorexic needs to be dropped.

The wording in general appearances needs to be more respectful. The references to "neurotic, psychotic,...craziness...deranged...", etc. All those types of references and terminology are what we cannot accept, by site rules. We do not accept characters who have those sorts of illnesses or references to those illnesses in their applications or characterizations in order to be respectful to those players who might legitimately deal with those things in RL.

We do want to be able to accept Kaede, but her character needs some reframing. If you'd like us to help with suggestions, etc., any of us would be happy to do that. Just let us know!

Oh I didn't read neurotic and psychotic as a disorder sort of thing, I think that Neurotic is a fine description of someone that's entered the mainstream - it's merely a description of one's mental condition, like happy or sad. Basically it means she's a little crazy (but not in the *Curl up in a ball and wish the spirits away* sort of way)

So really I think it's just the phrasing of the anorexic bit, if you agree with me on that Khaat?

Though I must say the whole "wild" look has been forced into it a little.

She reminds me a bit of Bellatrix, actually. I look forward to seeing what forced her to become what she is.

Oh, and the rest of the app... that could be important too Razz

The word "exotic" tells me far more than the other terms. I think what I understand is more in terms of "wild, untamed, unrestrained, unconventional, etc." Think about terms of style. Is it more goth, perhaps? I would prefer to see descriptions about styling. I sort of get a picture of goth meets cheap chic or bohemian. I'd love to see more of a physical description that helps me pick her out of a crowd. If I'm going to notice her right away from superificial appearances, then how? what are the physical features that will make her stand out from anyone else wearing a floaty or flowery dress?

We DOOO want to see her finished, and no we wont be looking to rip it up. LOL. I like the pb and the contrast between the superficially innocent sort of thing that the pb and some of the description suggests and the deeper darker layers beneath it. Keep going and lets see how it shapes up.
