Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

I agree with Cecilia on that point its why I tend not to go in multi posts there always so confusing and buy the time you read the longer replies some one has added to it making it longer so I tend to stay out. May be the max limit should be in threads of more than 3 or more?

I did understand your point. Really, I did. But as I said, I am not in favor of making word count maximums.

we can certainly make a request for shorter posts, especially if the threads are being responded to rapidly. if the replies are coming in quickly, it makes sense for some of the posts to be smaller so more of them can be done more quickly. but, some of the informational posts, particularly the professorial posts (etc.) might need to be understandably longer than the students, depending upon whats going on in the classroom.

respectful requests are entirely different than hard and fast rules. i would not be nearly so opposed to a respectful request.

Mmm, I think every player here on the site would be more than willing to take another player's request into consideration - I really think that's the best way to go about this.

But if need be, I shouldn't encourage this, but skim. You don't need to respond to every single action that someone makes in real life, so you don't need to in RP, just pick out the important parts, make sure you're on the right track, that could help a fair bit?

I always just skim for my name if I've fallen behind. XD

Perhaps a compromise could be reached with the use of spoilers? I'm not sure how effective it would be in execution, but maybe someone with more brainpower than I have right now could figure that out.

Yeah I agree a word limit would be better then having a long post in a class it's really hard to reply to those.

I think we sorted out that skimming and just generally being conscious of what we're writing was going to be best - as it stands for classes the most important stuff is either in inverted commas, or is in the teacher's replies - so it's not too hard

Aye, reckon short and simple post would be necessary for classes as it will help everyone keep a long. It worked out before I don't see why it won't now.
