Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

DADA Class 2 - Page 2 Empty Re: DADA Class 2

This young girl knew a lot about the Unforgivable Curses. "Right. The Cruciatus Curse. Extreme tortu--" Marcus was cut off by another girl running to the front of the room, sitting in his chair, and yelling something that sounded like a pirate. It took him a while to turn around but he did.

"Do you mind getting out of my seat and returning to your's?" Marcus asked, a little annoyed that she interrupted him. How about I try the Cruciatus Curse on you! he thought. "As I was saying before I was interrupted," he shot a look at the girl, "The Cruciatus Curse causes extreme torture to the victim."

Elyse was sitting down nice and comfortable in her seat, taking down notes about the Unforgivables. She remembered her parents telling her that they learned the same thing in 6th year, only the professor then actually performed the Imperius curse on the students. She let out an involuntary shudder, hoping that this professor wouldn't feel the need to use the same method, especially since the current administration would most likely approve of it. She then noticed one of the older Gryffindors do her pirate impersonation. She let out a muffled snort, glad that someone else in this room seemed to have a pretty good sense of humor.

Yumi, as usual, hadn't said a word or done anything to participate in class. She really just wasn't in the mood, not that she ever was. When she has found out about this new Professor, she really hadn't cared not as much as those Gryffindors had of course. When she entered the class all she had done was merely shrug at his sight and walk to her seat. Typical move on her part, she had never really interacted with the professors unless it was truly nessesary for her to do so.

She glanced over at the younger Gryffindor girl who seemed to know quite a bit about the Unforgivable Curses. The girl raised her eyebrow and smirked at her embarrassment of knowing so much more than she beloved was okay for her to know. A moment later her attention was diverted to another girl, again Gryffindor, who had moved up to the Professor's desk and began to make pirate imitations. Finally something funny happened in the class and Yumi worked to stiffle a laugh.

As usual, Sapphire had been late to class, not by much but she had been late. She had been able to come into the class to find that the lesson had not yet quite started and she had taken her seat immediately. After she sat down she noticed that the person who was at the front of the class wasn't her usual Professor and she made a weird face that showed her confusion and disappointment. Soon enough though, she just shrugged it off and resumed her natural not paying attention position, which was staring up at the ceiling. Same old Saph, doing the same thing for quite a while.

She became a but frustrated though, when a younger Gryffindor girl kept answering the questions the professor had before she could. Sapphire wanted to win points for her house too! Buy seeing as how she really didn't know the answers anyways, she was just going to make a fool of herself, not that she cared. But she gave up trying to answer and looked blankly at the ceiling again.

DADA Class 2 - Page 2 Empty Re: DADA Class 2

Post by Hallie Cooper Mon Feb 13, 2012 9:15 pm

Hallie hurried up the moving staircase and onto the third floor corridor. She was already ten minutes late for defence against the dark arts and it was the first class that she'd been to in a while. Although whether her new professor would let her still enter the lesson being late was another thing.

I'll just sneak to my seat. Hallie thought to herself as she passed the statue of the one eyed witch, her blonde locks waving behind her and her robes whisping around her legs. Hallie had used the passage concealled behind the statue many of times to sneak into Hogsmede and she always got the temptation to sneak down and head through to Honeydukes. Hallie paused for a moment debating whether to take a deture as she had exhausted her supply of acid pops.

No. She said to herself before scuttling further down the corridor and bursting into the defence against the dark arts classroom. The skeletal dinosaur hung from the ceiling as usual. The weather outside was dull and as usual her seat by a bookshelf of sneakascopes was vacant.

Hoping not to draw any entention Hallie slumped down and edged her way across the back of the classroom to her seat. She swiftly took out her textbook, parchment, ink and her eagle owl quill ready to learn from the professor at the front of the classroom. The handsome professor! She thought as her Tongue slowly edged her top lip, her eyes narrowing as she took in the features of her new defence professor.

Marcus rolled his eyes at the laughter that went on after the joke that the girl had made. Then a girl scurried in late, trying to sneak to her seat without being seen. "Late," he said firmly. "Next time, don't try to sneak. I don't reall stress over lateness." Marcus continued on with the lesson. "Now can anyone name another Unforgivable curse?" Marcus asked to the class.

This class seemed to be going pretty well.

Sapphire was starting to get annoyed now. She knew a little bit about the curses and she knew one of them, but before she could raise her hand to answer the Professor's question another Gryffindor answered. She made a small pouty face and a slight 'hmmp' noise that she doubted anyone heard. These Gryffindors knew a lot about the curses and they wouldn't let anyone else answer.

The Hufflepuff sighed and picked up her quill. If she couldn't answer anything about the curses she might as well write down some notes on them. She touched the tip of the quill to the paper and only managed to right, 'Unforgivable Curses' before her head shot up.

What exactly had the Professor said? Obviously she hasn't been listening as it was something she really didn't do, even though she tried.

Post by Alex Star Tue Feb 14, 2012 10:34 am

Alex would walk into class late, as he heard the words imperius curse. He knew of that one right off the back, because of his lineage. Of course his father had used it on him once, so that he would know how it felt to be controlled. He didn't like the feeling of not using his body, as he would just raise his hand. He didn't care if people would say anything to him, as he would just find a seat where he could be alone. " Professor Marcus, can I explain what happens under said curse " He didn't care if not many of the slytherins weren't answering these easy questions

Sam rolled his eyes and raised his hand, "Sir, the imperius curse is one used to forcibly take control of others actions. Those with strong will and determination have been known to resist the effects of the curse however, though often when the curse is inflicted with malevolence in mind, it can break the target's psychy," he explained, knowing full well that he'd just cut someone else off who was prepared to explain the spell's effects.

"May I say though, that almost all of us here were present 6 months ago when the school was attacked by Death Eaters... i think that we can move on from theory, sir," he explained, a thick layer of sarcasm lacing his voice.
