The Heat Empty The Heat

Post by Allen Tobias Thu Oct 06, 2011 12:11 am

Allen had been sitting on the sidelines of the Great Lake, leaning against a firm tree. Allen was not wearing standard Hogwarts attire, but rather a more casual version of it. He wanted to just relax for a while and he often enjoyed seeing the beauty of the lake. He wasn't the only one, often seeing others out admiring the view...or admiring each other.

He hadn't seen a lot of couples out there, but he did see them. Allen wanted a change from that. He was going to make a difference in his life now, but it was difficult to proceed with the first step. If he could just do that, life would behold his power. Maybe not like that, but it would definitely be more open to him.

"God..." he muttered to himself, looking down at his shoes "what must I do now...I'm just sitting here by myself at the lake, feeling sorry for myself." He glanced over to his right and found a small flat rock. He bent over and picked it up from its murky depth and quickly flicked his wrist, throwing it at a good velocity. It skipped a couple times and eventually sunk to it's watery grave. What a depressing way to look at it.

The Heat Empty Re: The Heat

Post by Mia Corner Thu Oct 06, 2011 12:48 am

Mia had no plans to do much of anything today. Mostly just read her potions books and relax. Mia cam down the stairs and into the Gryffindor common room wearing a button up dark red sweater over a white button up blouse and some blue jeans with some black sock and black sneakers. It was getting cold outside and she hated to feel cold. Once in the common room she found that it was much to crowded to do any reading, so she would head down to the lake. It was colder outside so not to many people would be down there.

After a few minutes of walking down to the Lake she found that not to many people where around the lake. She liked it that way, it was quitter. She decided to start reading while she found a place to sit and read. Of course this meant that she was not paying attention to where she was going. Only a minute after she had put the book up to her face did she trip over a person. "Aahh." She yelped as she hit the ground becoming sprawled over the person. She quickly shuffled over the person and stood up looking at what she now saw was a guy. "I"m so sorry. I wasn't paying any attention to where I was going. Are you ok?" She asked him wanting to make sure that she had not hurt him.

The Heat Empty Re: The Heat

Allen wasn't paying attention when the mysterious girl had knocked into him, causing him to lose his balance and collapse to the ground. He felt irritated by the fact that he was suddenly interrupted and the fact that his school clothes had gotten dirty. He turned his head to look at the person who had knocked him down and instantly froze up. It was a girl who instantly had his insides quiver. His arms locked up and his breathing stood. His hair was frazzled a bit, most of his bangs over his eyes.

"Umm..." he finally uttered in a soft voice "yeah, I'm alright. Are you okay though?"

He didn't move, or rather, he didn't want to move. He just lied there, his arms on the ground and his body completely frozen. Say something nice, you idiot... he muttered in his thoughts "umm..." he paused again. Get up and then so something! yelled his thoughts. He quickly helped her up and brushed some dirt of his sweater. And once again, Allen was silent.

The Heat Empty Re: The Heat

Post by Mia Corner Thu Oct 06, 2011 1:16 am

For the long moment that it had taken him to answer her question she had gained a light flush to her cheeks. This was because she was able to now take the time and look carefully at who her had knocked into. He wasn't model potential but neither was she. He had a charm to him that she could tell she would like. She wasn't sure where the butterflies came from but suddenly they where all in her stomach. He thoughts became jumbled and she was going from looking at the ground and her feet to glancing up at him. She was afraid to look at him for to long, she might start to blush in a way that showed to much. Then she shook her head and looked up at him properly. Who was she kidding, a guy like this would never like her.

Finally she gained her balance back again and started to talk. "My name is Mia Corner. It's nice to meet you." Mia said moving her hand out towards him for him to shake. Of course now she was petrified to think that maybe he would just turn around and run in the opposite direction. It wouldn't be hard for people to think of that, not to many people even knew her. She always had her nose in a book so of course they wouldn't. She had barely any friends and her brothers where the only ones she sat next to during breakfast, lunch and dinner. So why would this guy like someone he didn't even know?

The Heat Empty Re: The Heat

Allen continued to look at Mia, not wanting to cut off the glance he had towards her. From the peripheral of his vision, he could see that she was extending her hand. He knew her name now. Mia. He smiled slightly, showing a more kind side to him that usual and grabbed her hand with a small grip. "My name is Allen...Allen Tobias." he said with a small quiver in his voice. He lost his grip and quickly moved his hand into his pocket, a usual defense mechanism for him. "Do you come here often?" he asked, the question forming only from the top of his brain.

At least you said something... his brain chided. Mia was pretty enough to keep his muscles frozen in place and allowed his thoughts to process random thoughts about her. Some wasn't good, but that was just usual guy thoughts. "Umm...let's not be strangers then," he said and sat down, wondering if she would just continue off in her usual direction.

The Heat Empty Re: The Heat

Mia was starting to feel odd again. He was staring at her. He likes you silly....or you have something on your face.... Mia's mind said to her making her think that she had something on her face. Once he finally shook her hand and told her his name, she couldn't help but smile when he did. He had a cute smile. After a second he let go, but while there hands had touched she felt an almost soft warming electricity. Like the electricity had been waiting all it's life to be used. Mia looked down for a second after this and brushed her hair out of her face taking a second to brush her cheeks as she did this. She then looked back up at him when he asked her a question. It sounded like a normal question, but then she thought about it for a second. Actually she did come here a lot. She like to be left alone while she read. "Um....yeah I guess." Mia said blushing again then looking down at the ground, twisting her hands. He said that they shouldn't be strangers and sat down. Mia took this as an offer to sit down with him. But in the rush to not want to be the only one standing she sat down to quickly and made it look like she had been waiting forever for him to ask her this. She took a second to breath then looked back up at him. "So why are you out here?" She asked him not seeing any harm in the question.

The Heat Empty Re: The Heat

Andrew placed his hand on his knees as he sat down, looking at Mia, then back at the lake. Chills ran through his legs, mainly due to the new fall cold and just from meeting someone new. That sort of initial awkwardness he always got whenever he met someone new. "Well I came here just to be here," he replied, a large error message appearing in his head. Way to look like an asshole... his mind chided again. "I mean," he replied in his awkwardness, blushing slightly "I just came here to enjoy the view y'know? I like to take pictures, so I wanted to take a picture of this lake...but muggle technology is not allowed here, which also made me mad, because I love technology!" Talking too much. Great.

He looked back at Mia, looking into her eyes, seeing a very soft soul. It wasn't easy to notice someone through their eyes, but she was different really. Not like an open book, but one where you wanted to search through it, to become completely in tune with. "I'm Gryffindor," he quickly shot out, not wanting to seem odd "4th year..."

The Heat Empty Re: The Heat

Mia was relieved to see that he didn't really notice her quick sit down. She relaxed for a moment till she remembered she would have to actually talk now. This was one of the reasons that she didn't like to be in a conversation with people. She could never choose the right words. Especially when she sort of kind of liked them. "Yeah I understand that. It's pretty out here." Mia said looking out over the lake, her brown hair moving with the wind. Then he said something about pictures and she looked back at him. "Muggle technology isn't my strong suit. I love Potions. Potions class. Potions books. When I graduate I want to be a Potions Professor." Mia said to him wondering if she had said to much already. What if he hated Potions? Then he said that he was in Gryffindor and a 4th year. At least they had that in common. "I'm Gryffindor too and a fourth year too." Mia said blushing again while looking at him. This time she couldn't look away, she didn't want to. There was something in his eyes that made her want to get closer to him. But she then quickly looked down and blush brighter.

The Heat Empty Re: The Heat

Post by Allen Tobias Thu Oct 06, 2011 2:30 am

Allen blinked a couple times in an odd fashion when she mentioned that she liked Potions class. He didn't like potions that much, seeing as how he hated working with things that could kill him or anyone else. Although, there were some that he wished he could get his hands on- like Polyjuice potion. Yet regardless, he needed to focus. "I really don't like potions that much," he replied to her. He wanted to be honest, since trying to lie and impress would only lead to more lies and more ways to impress, which would then fall flat on his face. Always happened in the movies. "I'd like to work in the Muggle areas...I don't like magic that much."

And that was the ripping of the band aid. Or at least that was went through his mind. She would probably react the same way that everyone else did, which would be no surprise. Seconds passed, yet it felt like an eternity in his mind. He needed to pull it together, and he needed to do it now. "So," he quickly spurted "what do you like about...potions?"

The Heat Empty Re: The Heat

Post by Mia Corner Thu Oct 06, 2011 2:45 am

Mia was ok with the fact that he didn't like Potions. A lot of people didn't. Mostly because of the Professors and it was scary and they didn't understand it. Most kids just like to have a wand and throw spells everywhere. Then he said that he didn't like magic to much either. Of course this was shocking but for some reason it made her like him more. If he didn't like magic to much then he had no reason to want to be the most powerfully, evil wizard. So he was a good person. She smiled slightly. "It's ok that you don't like Potions. I lot of people don't. Mostly because they don't understand it and the Professor is scary. I mainly like it because if you think about it, most people that are in magic fights use there wands, right? So they wouldn't be expecting someone to pull out a vial of liquid and throw it at them. It's like a surprise attack. But that is only that side of the potions that I like. I also like the cute ones. The ability to make people love you or become obsessed with something or even become someone else all together. If you think about it, with Potions you could do almost anything." Mia said starting to feel like she was getting ahead of herself. She took a second for him to take it all in. She wasn't sure what else to say or ask.
