At the d'Eath residence, Damien opened his eyes, realized the day, and let out a long and dreadful sigh. Today, a wedding will take place at the Krums'. Usually, news like that would bother Damien the least. Not only that, but news like that would never even have gotten to his ears, had it not been for Georgia Wheelbarrow. Georgia had mentioned the event and the need for an escort. Damien was hardly interested in the conversation because it involved Elijah Krum, but as soon as he realized how Mira Anderson would be there, his attitude shifted.
Elijah had never been a friend, and he knew that Elijah would never consider him one too. It was a conflict of interest, to say the least. All the nights of fantasizing about his what-would-seem-like-forever infatuation with Mira, and also the nights of torture from thoughts of Elijah and her. Damien scowled at that thought and reconsidered his offer to be Georgia's escort. Going would provide him yet another opportunity to see Mira who, Damien knows, sees him as nothing more than like a protective younger brother. On the other hand, to go would mean he has to suffer hours of watching the bliss that is Elijah and Mira against the backdrop of what Damien had always been cynical about - marriage. But he had made a promise to Georgia, and he did not want to disappoint her by backing out at the last minute.
Tossing the blanket away from him with a fierce force, Damien pulled himself out of bed. His face, if anyone would see, displayed his tortured insides. Still, there was a little part of him excited at the prospect of getting to see Mira. He hoped the trip to the Krums would at least be worthwhile. Georgia though, he expects, would suffer from her friend's whining after the wedding. Damien had always lapped all of his miseries on Georgia, preferring not to share it with any other soul than who he trusts to be his best friend and confidante. Damien strolled to the end of his room where the facade of the building is almost completely of glass. He stared out at the forest outside, a location his part-vampire father had chosen, and began to stretch while taking in the view. As soon as that was done, Damien went to get ready for the wedding.
Why's she late?! Damien thought to himself. Now standing on Krum grounds, he felt a lot less assured of himself. He had decided that he would attempt to stay out of Elijah's sight, as much as he can. For one who is usually punctual, not surprising because of his obsession over everything neat and proper, Damien felt slightly irritated that he had to wait for Georgia. Since it is a wedding, Damien had suited up exactly the way that his father always does, despite him not knowing what the dress code really is. Come to think of it, he thought, Georgia never told me.
Feeling slightly lost, Damien surveyed the other guests, hoping to blend into the crowd. His eyes began to take a will of its own, searching the crowd for the face that he had come here to see – Mira’s. He strolled silently amidst people, pretending to be like a phantom, entertaining himself. Yes, he still likes to play games like that. Mother had accused him of never growing up, and he had argued with her about it, insulting her choice of a new husband that he felt ashamed of.
Perfect blond hair and smoky grey eyes, with a body only caressed by a simple white dress ... and Elijah. Damien scowled extremely hard at that last though. Where did that dreaded thought come from? He wanted, so very much, to curse it. So yes, Damien had spotted Mira through the crowd of people, so insignificant to him. With a heart thumping from swooning and nervousness, the boy attempted to collect himself for a strong front, something he always has to put up in Mira’s presence. Damien checked to see if Elijah would be anywhere near. So far so good, he concluded. Come on, Elijah, give me just some time with her he pleaded inside of him. He was walking to Mira now, as opposed to strolling. Damien wondered if Mira could see him already.
“I’m speechless,” Damien began, as quickly as he found himself standing right in front of Mira.
