Potter's Army- 1st Meeting

Lucy had been right. She was sorely needed here. The wolf-girl wanted to train herself in duelling. Not that it was a bad sport, but... It was just that, a sport.

Maybe it was her father's genes, but Lucy had never understood the whole hero thing. Sure, her uncle had done it, but he had to. There'd been a prophecy and everything! Nobody in this room had to do anything.

When it came to the crunch, Lucy would rather run, but the members of Potter's Army weren't the sort of people who'd go for that. Especially not from someone related to their namesake.

"We should practice using unconventional spells in duelling situations," she said.

Louis smiled. Finally. He looked. He wanted to destroy his sisters bones. She had become evil and supported the death eaters. Louis was a target on te list being a Weasley and all. His sister had given him a free pass but he didnt need it. He was a really good wizard. Not like his uncle. And the he realized. He looked at Lucy. "Hey aren't we cousins?" He asked.

They were. Lucy of course. He hadnt seen her sense she was 8 and Louis was in his first year at Hogwarts. His cousin joined Potters Army. He wanted to tell Lucy what Victoire did. "Lucy its me Louis." He said.

Then he thought about Jacks lecture. He realized she was annyoing but she had a point. She didnt have to leader him. He knew what Jack meant. "Well we should pratice shouldn't we." He agreed.

Jack tried to keep herself from sighing, rolling her eyes, or wincing at some of the requests. She had thought she had made practicing and duelling rather obvious. How else would they learn spells unless they practiced it and then applied it into duels. She realized that she probably should not assume everyone at these meetings would be intelligent.

She could see Louis' attention waning and she clicked her tongue to draw the attention back. "I like what Lucy said about unconventional spells. Combining spells, using non-obvious spells like Stunning and Disarming. Things people will not be quick to defend against. Obviously, we will practice and duel. I'm asking you guys what do you want to focus on!

"If it was not clear, I mean transfiguration spells, defensive or offensive, Patronuses- c'mon guys! Think. What do we all need." She looked around. She was asking them so she did not make them review something they all knew, she was trying to be effective.

Lucy looked at her cousin. She sometimes wondered if Bill and Fleur hadn't got bored of sex and decided to cook him up in a potions lab. He wasn't exactly the brightest flame around, which was weird because his parents were both former cursebreakers.

"I know who you are, Louis," she answered. "I've been related to you for thirteen years."

"So, yeah," she said. "Why don't we start with patronuses? I don't know about anyone else but I wouldn't mind being the only third year who can cast one."

Jack nodded, glad for a concrete idea. "Okay, that works. I want to dive right in, it would be really stupid, really, to have a meeting and then not doing anything for the sake of it being 'only our first meeting.' And since no one else had any other ideas, we'll just get started on this, since we'll probably have to work on them some more next lesson. Eventually, I'll get us a Boggart or something- anyone's greatest fear here a dementor- and we could work on that." The more she thought of it, a Boggart would make a good meeting as well.

"So, Patronuses. Simple in theory. Mega difficult in practical use. The incantation is simple enough. Expecto Patronum! The problem is the memory. You must focus on a very happy memory, especially around dementors, and fix on that. Everyone has a different patronus. Watch." She turned and pointed her wand at the center of the room. She thought about chasing down the Loch Ness monster and said, "Expecto Patronum!"

The wolfhound that had replaced the jackal as a bodyguard lept from her wand and galloped towards the center, slowing and loping around in a graceful circle. It stopped and threw its head back before fading from view. Feeling a little exposed, Jack cleared her throat. Those who had ever seen her cast one before would now know it had changed. "For those of you who have never casted a Patronus before, expect silver vapor for the first tries. Okay. Get to it. Ask me if you need help. Try it out!"

Louis had casted a patronus before and it came out as a hawk. So he put his wand at ready and said the incantation "Expecto Patronum" and while he did he thought about the first time he walked through Hogwarts. It was the happiest time of his life. He followed his fellow first years and then was sorted into Gryffindor.

He snapped back to reality. A hawk came out and and flew around the room. A blue like-silver like hawk just went about until it stopped and came back to his wand. "Well thats my Patronus. What about everyone else?"

Jack looked around and clapped her hands together, a loud noise echoing and rebounding off of the walls of the Room of Requirement. She put her fingers to her mouth and whistled loudly. "Awesome, everyone! Good job. A few of you still need work, but if you need help just practice somewhere private. I'll try to get us something to serve as a dementor.

"Next week, we'll focus on some hexes and jinxes that are sort of random that can surprise someone you are duelling. Please keep this on the down low, but if you know anybody who would be interested and not tell the Death Eater professors, let them know." She looked around at the students and pulled out the Marauder's Map, checking and finding that all of the professors were clear of paths to the various common rooms. "Okay, hurry back to your common rooms. Curfew's coming up. If you need to, go to the bathrooms as excuses. See you next week!"
