Ista Island

It is Turn 1 of the Fifth Pass. After 450 Turns of threadfree skies, after five generations of Pernese who believed that thread was gone forever, the ancient menace has returned once again, bringing an end to what was, for some, a golden age and, for others, nearly the end of their entire way of life.

While the Holds and Halls prospered during the Long Interval, expanding their lands and their learning, the Weyrs crumbled. The juxtaposition between the lives of holders and the lives of riders is nowhere as stark as it is on Ista Island. Here, the Lord of Ista and his family have enjoyed a life of luxury and opulence while the dragonriders of Ista were all but forgotten, the Weyr itself abandoned.

But, with thread's return, everything has changed. Those holders who settled the smaller islands of Ista and created new farmholds outside the original coverage areas find themselves now as refugees; the Weyr cannot be expected to fly full coverage over these new regions, and burrows are legion. While some point the finger at the Weyr for failing to protect the new farms, others lay blame on the Lords of Ista, whose greed is the reason the lands were expanded in the first place.

Whatever the case, Ista Island must face the Fifth Pass. However they can.

• Candidates - As we will now be proceeding with our first Hatching, we are encouraging people to play Candidate concepts.

• Additional Characters - We have a lot of openings for green, blue, and brownriders, a firelizard trader, half-Bloods of Ista Hold, refugees who have lost their farms because of threadfall, a Headwoman for Ista Weyr, a Steward for Ista Hold, and many more.
