Edward lazily made his way back to the common room to possibly get a good night's rest. Ever since the "incident" on the Express, he had been having nightmares of the Demons. At first, he saw them to be powerless and that they would have no impact on him at all. Apparently, his assumptions had been wrong. They had more power than anyone had thought them out to be, he expected Majere would be behind this all; how else could they have gotten on the train?
Vincent was no problem now, he had resigned in the summer, and was replaced by the Potions Master, Doyle. Ed didn't like Doyle as much as he thought he would, he was the least bit professional, and often made crude jokes or remarks to the students and staff. The man definitely gave the wrong impression of Hogwarts. He knew that Julia didn't exactly like him, either, but she thought he was funny, which Edward didn't get at all.
Ah, Julia. He hadn't seen her around lately, as she didn't go to supper that night. She was probably sneaking out to the forest with Arthur like she usually did on the weekends. Those two were very close now, and Edward couldn't say he was exactly happy about that, but he had to pretend; for her sake. He could tell that she really loved him, but Ed didn't think that Arthur was "man" enough to take care of her. Sure Arthur was extremely intelligent, but he wasn't convinced that the man could protect her from everything. He thought that Scorpius would be a better match for Julia, though he had all the ladies following him by his heels, Ed could tell that Julia may have had some feelings for him at one point, and perhaps the feeling was mutual between the two.
Letting these thoughts go, Ed dragged his feet through the common room- it was empty- and he could already hear the obnoxiously loud laughter and shouting from his friends in his dormitory. It sounded fun, but he wasn't in the mood to be roughhousing at the moment. He dropped his books on a table in the corner, and walked over to the couch closest to the fire. He removed his robes, vest, and tie before sprawling on the sofa. It was extremely comfortable, he didn't want to move, but there was one thing missing: someone to talk to. He hoped someone interesting would come along and talk to him. Until then, he relaxed by the fire, shutting his eyes before drifting into a light sleep.
