GENERAL APPEARANCE:
Selwyn has an androgynous appearance. High cheekbones contrasted to the angle of his jaw give a distinctly feminine quality to his features. His slight build gives an impression of delicacy.
He is also slightly disproportionate for a human. Selwyn's limbs are a little too long. His build is slimmer than a human of his height's would usually be. However, these flaws are usually overlooked. He (along with his mother) attributes them to the combination of veela human genetics.
Selwyn is one of the few wizards who've managed to combine the casual style of muggles (even if it is a style 50 years out of date) with the formal wear of wizards and actually not look ridiculous. Of course, his congenital good looks and magic help.
While throughout his younger years, he took absolute delight in looking as scruffy as possible, nowadays Selwyn makes a habit and indeed takes pride in dressing for the occasion. Some stately heirs make a show (and seem absolutely giddy about) wearing the latest robes each time you see them. Selwyn wears tailor made robes to parties and balls, yes, but one needn't wear dress robes out to lunch with friends.

PERSONALITY:
Selwyn is an intensely passionate about the things he believes in, although most people wouldn't know it. Used to being mocked by some quite nasty family members, he is adept at cloaking his interests in apathy or even ignorance.
Selwyn's people skills can be variable, although he believes this has nothing to do with his skill at all, and is all terrible prejudice on other people's behalf. People don't like Slytherins, and lots of people don't like veela besides. Not that he goes around telling people about the last part. Not to mention that once it's clear someone doesn't like him, Selwyn becomes the sharpest thorn in their side.
Selwyn has an entire list of rules, that in the privacy of his own head he thinks of as non-dark-side-rules. Things like not using his veela charm on people without telling them, and not manipulating people for his own convenience, and not using dark spells unless it's the middle of a battle and he really has to (that one had to be modified), etc... Occassionally he breaks one of them, and then feels really bad about it.

EARLY YEARS:
Selwyn grew up in a mouldering old manor house in Glen Coe. His parents got rid of the staff when he was a child since they couldn't afford to pay them and could still barely afford the upkeep.
He spent his summers in Lahr visiting his grandmother and his veela kin. Though Selwyn, being part human, finds it difficult to get along with them at all.
HOGWARTS YEARS:
During his years at Hogwarts, Selwyn was better known for causing disruption than for his intelligence or ability. However he was chaser on the Slytherin quidditch team and represented the school in several interschool competitions.
He also participated in a few battles when death eaters tried to make incursions onto school grounds, during one of which he set fire to the whomping willow while attempting to make a veela transformation. He was also briefly a member of Potter's Army.
ADULTHOOD:
Selwyn hasn't been much seen in magical society since he graduated. His family's income comes from the muggle world, and thus he his attentions have been on restoring Sìth Bhrugh (the family home) to its former glory.

The lawns stretched green and empty ahead of Selwyn as he trod the well worn path down toward the edge of the Forbidden Forest. There was something about that place, simply because they were constantly being warned to stay away from it.
Selwyn wondered if, if they weren't told to stay out of there, whether anyone would be interested in exploring the place. But of course they would. Gryffindors could always be counted on to do something stupid, no matter whether it ruined things for everyone else.
Whatever. It wasn't like he was going to go into the forest. That would be breaking school rules. He was just going to have a look round the edges. That was completely above board.
