Basic Lesson 1

Rhea entered her classroom to prepare for her first ever class. That fact made her slightly nervous but she wasn't that worried. Whatever would happen would be good. This class would be simple, anyway. It was just an introduction to divination. She would just explain what they would be doing throughout the year. Most of the period would be spent in lecture. Not exactly an exiting first lesson.

Rhea stood up from her desk and walked up to the whiteboard where she wrote

Beginner Divination - An Introduction

It would be the first thing they would see when they came into the brightly lit tower room. Unlike the previous teachers she didn't keep the room dim and dark. Only when needed was it to look so gloomy in this room. Rhea also was different from the other teachers because she wasn't a seer. This didn't bug Rhea but it also didn't settle well with some parents.

Making her way back to her desk Rhea sat down and prepared for the first students to filter in.

Aurora walked into the classroom looking depressed. She did as she did in any other class and handed a note to the teacher then took a seat in the very back of the room. Like all of the other notes, this note asked for the teacher to take it easy on her and be patient if she doesnt learn as fast. Aurora took out her wand and looked it over then laid it on her desk and looked through her bag.

A muffled thud came from the trapdoor, paired with a shout and the distinct sound of someone falling down a laddder. A few seconds later the trapdoor successfully opened and Sam climbed through, shaking his head to regain his composure, before smiling around the room. "Morning Ma'am," he said with a wave to the teacher, "Morning," he added, smiling at the only other student in the room.

He was quite looking forward to Divination, would it be a chance to catch some Z's? Would it be interesting? Would he enjoy the class? All these questions he dearly looked forward to answering.

Sitting down on one of the more comfy looking armchairs he sighed in content and looked at the teacher, waiting for her to begin the lesson.

Ezra climbed up the ladder of the Divination tower. It was quite a bit of a climb up but he managed it. Once he reached the top and into the classroom, he took his seat with his supplies. He hoped that the lessons this year would be better than the ones taught in previous years. He hoped. He flipped his textbook open to a page and began reading it. He coughed a little bit. There were two other Gryffindors here, as well as the professor.

And finally she wasn't late. Odette went to the class streight from her common room which was on the same floor as her class tower. She dragged her legs up the stairs and into the classroom. "Good morning Professor" she stopped to read the board "Mrs. Belacqua.." she finished as she took a seat in the random free corner.

Once the students started coming they came pretty quickly, Rhea discovered. In a period of only a few minutes four Gryffindors had came through her doors. The first was a 2nd year with beautiful features. She came right up to Rhea and handed her a note. Rhea remembered in her other class the first student in the door had also given her a note. Funny. Taking it Rhea read it over only to find confusion coming over her. Why did she have to 'take it easy' on the girl. At this time the second student came through and said hello. She nodded to him. "Miss.. Nye?" Rhea called to the first girl. "May you explain this?"

Just then the third student came in. He settled himself in a empty desk. The third student arrived. "Good morning" Rhea replied to the student. She looked older than the others, well not the boy, but everyone else. Rhea put on a brittle smile for the beginning of the class. "Once your classmates show up we shall start. In the meantime you may chat amongst yourselves. There is no need for wands or textbooks today. You may take out a quill if you wish."

Aurora rose from her seat and walked up to the teacher. "Ma'am This note is from my god parents. They are worried that i might do something wrong and they want you to try to be a bit patient with me. You see lately i have been having depressing Visions and I've also been having Flash backs from the day my parents died and i've been doing alot of bad things without barely controlling them. I've like gone mad except that i havent done much. I've had detention in one class and gotten treated as a pity seeking fool in another so if you dont care about it then i might as well leave." She said depressingly.

Divination, oh, divination! The only class you could literally make up answers for. For a while, Selwyn had considered taking arithmancy or ancient runes, but everyone knew divination was a soft course.

He walked into the classroom to hear a little Gryffindor complaining about the toll flashbacks and visions were taking on her. He could tell from her tone that she expected to be disbelieved, and his heart went out to her, but it would be a bad move to offer assistance right now.

If she was lucky, their new teacher would think her potential as a seer was more important than making her even more miserable than she evidentially already was.

Making sure the strap belonging to her backpack was slung a bit more securely around her shoulder, Nerissa climbed up the staircase that would eventually allow her entrance to the Divination classroom, an elective class that Nerissa had chosen despite the fact that she had no such ability to see the future. As far as she was concerned, no one could do such things, but it was an interesting thought, and the class always filled her with a strange sense of hope that ‘anything was possible’… like childish fairytales that Nerissa’s mother used to attempt to read to her when she was a child. If she recalled correctly, she had enjoyed those stories, but hadn’t spent much time pretending things could actually end ‘happily ever after’.

Nerissa’s brilliant red hair cascaded messily down her frail shoulders as her upper half appeared in the well-lit classroom through the trap door, fallowed by the rest of her body as she straightened, adjusting the strap around her shoulder once more. There were few in the classroom, but there were always few in the Divination classroom, so Nerissa assumed that about half of the class was already there. “Hello…” she muttered, not really caring who exactly her greeting was directed to, for she was to busy selecting a seat to really decide if she wanted to ‘chat’ with anyone who was already there. Chances were she didn’t; most of the students at Hogwarts had something negative to say about her, or felt the need to bombard her with questions about “what it was like to be kidnapped by Ne’Os”. Nerissa figured something had happened to their heads during their childhood years.

“I take it everyone had a good summer…?” Nerissa continued to mutter sarcastically under her breath to no one in particular with an amused expression in place, plopping loudly into the chair that she had claimed as ‘her seat’ for the rest of the year. She looked up towards the front of the classroom, reading the name that was written upon the board; a new teacher. Well, that was one way to kick off the new school year.
