Out of Nowhere

It was early morning hours not more then 8 in the morning. Gabrielle had just arrived at work and since she forgat to stop by at Sparks for her morning coffee she made a coffee in her office and went up towards the atrium to sit by the fountain and drink it while reading latest Daily Prophet. She was sick of the life she lead though giving up now would be like throwing away all those long years of effort for her objective. Sometimes she felt angry at Harry for making her give him the promise she gave him though it was hard to refuse someone who saved her life in more then one occasion. Her legs were crossed while her coffee was standing next to her.

Mariana was walking around the common room which was empty at this hour. Everyone were either at breakfast, sleeping or having first class. Her expression had changed now that she was alone. Even though she was successfully acting her last role of self-confident girl, when she would stay alone it felt like she was going to explode. Her own commom room now became like a golden cage without an exit. Someone needed to explain her why was all this necessary. But who? That question disturbed her for a fair bit. Her first two classes were a hole since it was some that she didn't go on. Gabrielle! she thought like from the canon running out of the castle so fast. Everyone was turning to see what was going on. Once she reached the gate she apparated directly to the atrium looking around. Fortunatly Gabrielle was already close enough so she hurried over standing in front of her faster then she could notice her. "Gabrielle we need to talk!" she said loudly.

Gabrielle didn't notice anything out of usual happening around the atrium. Witches and Wizzards were passing like any other day. She took her cup of coffee taking slowly another sip. For some reason she felt particulary tired today. Crazy reporters.. she thought for herself as she passed through the daily prophet. While she was loweing her cup down still holding it in her right hand someone walked up to her out of nowhere. She raised her eyes from the paper to the red haired girl who still looked pale though with a bit more color then the last time when she saw her. Mariana was wearing her yellow Huffelpuff robes. "Mariana!" she said trying to lower down her voice standing up quickly making the cup dissappear with flick of her wand. "You can't be here it's too dangerous. Come with me.." she said dragging her to the empty deserted office by the atrium pulling her inside. "How did you get a bright idea to come here?" she finally asked using her normal tone.

Mariana let Gabrielle drag her to some empty abanoned office nearby not caring if she was going to talk here or there. By the surprised look of her foster aunt she could conclude that her visit created her alot of confusion and disagreement. "I don't care where, but we still need to talk. Bright idea Gabrielle? I should have came long time ago to clear everything up, but i didn't. I want all answers and i want them NOW!!" she shouted at her direction like her entire life depended on what was Gabrielle going to say or not say.

Gabrielle stood right across Mariana listening to her hoping this will be quick because someone would eventually find them together which was not good. Everything they managed to keep a secret for years would fall just like that. "Firstly calm down Mariana! You need to get a hold of yourself. Keep control if you loose it now, nothing we ever did served for something." she said calmly looking with her passive expression at Mari's now either nerved face or anything else. "Now what is that you want to know that you had to come all the way over here to ask?" she asked scanning her to see if she calmed down.

Mariana couldn't believe someone was actuially asking her to calm down after all this time. There were things she couldn't and things she could change which made her life seem rather complicated. "Control Control CONTROL Gabrielle!!" she shouted like that word was driving her crazy. "Seven years Gabrielle SEVEN YEARS! That's how long i've been living in a lie and you are still asking me to calm down." she said doing an effort to calm her nerves. "I want to know what is all this about. Why do i have to make everything i know a secret. What's my life about? What is the secret you've been hiding from me?" she asked desperatly like her life depended on what Gabrielle would answer.

Gabrielle listened as Mariana was yelling with her full voice not sure what to tell her since if she was on her place she would might do the same. "Keep your voice down Mariana do you wish to expose us after everything? I know how many years it took, but it was necessary for your own good." she said not rasing her tone trying to stay calm though even her wasn't made of stone. "You are asking me questions i can't answer you yet Mariana. You will have all answers when the time is right, but right now only thing i can tell you it's for your own good. You must understand some things take time." she said wishing to tell her everything and stop carrying this secret on her concience that would eventually burn her from the inside.

Mariana hated this kind of lame answers. After all what she was asking wasn't anything from the other world. "Expose us Gabrielle? I don't know what can be exposed or why shouldn't it be exposed.." she said with a little lower voice though it was still perfectly hearable. The other part of Gabrielle's answer bugged her even more because it didn't say anything concrete. "I don't understand why can't you answer them? WHEN IS THE RIGHT TIME THEN? When i finish dead? And NO I DON'T UNDERSTAND!" she said starting to shout desperatly again. "I don't understand anything. I need to know why am i doing what i am doing or i am going to reveal everything without a doubt. How much more time? It's been 7 years how much MORE time?" she asked still partially yelling.

Gabrielle was between two fires. One one hand telling Mariana everything she wanted to know would help her understand and keep control, but on the other hand she could tell someone about this and ruin the entire plan. Doubts passed through her mind like never. "Yes expose us Mariana. Once it is discovered people will start asking questions. Questions i won't be able to reply and you would loose an ace down your sleeve.." she said still not speaking clearly though she tried. "Calm your nerves down. I know it's hard to understand, but precisely for those seven years you shouldn't let it get ruined now. Not much time things started going its right course and it's only the matter of time. And besides i gave you the answer on all your questions though i am not sure you looked at it." she said trying to keep her serenity since if she lost sense too this would end badly.

Gabrielle spoke in riddles and Mariana was starting to get rather nervous about it. There was no logical explenation for anything that happened or kept happening. "Ace down my sleeve what ace? You speak of it as if my life was a game of cards.." she asked not raising her tone again though she was about to do that. Nothing made sense. "Tell me Gabrielle what is right course for you? The fact my parents got killed then Harry did the same then i lost majority of people i cared about? Was that supposed to happen?" she asked ignoring the last part of her reply since she needed to know what was the right course.
