Well. I'm finally addressing my biggest issue with the Harry Potter series.
Warning: This may seem like a rant at first, but it has a point. Trust me.
My biggest problem with the world of Harry Potter has always been Avada Kedavra and Stupefy. They symbolize to me, more than anything else, laziness. I mean think about it. They're the only spells you need to ever duel. If you're a bad guy, avada kedavra. If you're good, Stupefy. They're the only spells you'll ever need, and so there's no need for JK Rowling to "waste" her time coming up with creative, inventive ways to use magic in battle. I abhor using Avada Kedavra and Stupefy when I duel. It's just so...plain.
Now, obviously we can't just get rid of the spells. They're vital to the Potterverse, AK especially. But I'm sure there are others who share my opinion, and I'm sure these people would love new spells to use.
Think about it. Magic has 5 laws, according to Hermione, and only 1 is stated explicitly in the series. And yet not a single wind spell was used in Harry potter. For example. In the ministry duel, I wanted Sandra to send a gust of wind at her opponents, kicking up loose gravel and fire to create a kind of storm styled attack. I searched the internet, but to no avail. So i had to make it up on the spot
So what if the privvy member came up with spells themselves? Nothing ground breaking, just like a spell that sends lightning at someone. Or a spell that splits the ground between someone. Or one that makes the wall transparent. You know, spells that could exist with the Potterverse, but technically don't because Rowling never mentioned them.
Thoughts?
