He took note of what students came in, nodding at those who said good morning and wished the same. He raised an eyebrow at Poe’s comment and shook his head. The boy had a sharp wit and Gibbs was impressed but he wasn’t one to say such things out loud. He picked at tennis ball up off of his desk and began to bounce it against the wooden floorboards, catching it as it came back. He put the tennis ball down again and walked around the board and picked up a piece of chalk. He noticed the fake smile and couldn’t help but scoff quietly to himself. Slytherin’s weren’t that intelligent ... well, some were but not many. “Miss Malfoy would you please sit down? Perhaps then I could try and fill your head with something other than air.” Gibbs remarked coolly. He turned to Arthur and nodded in admiration before addressing the class. “I know that there aren’t many of you yet but thankfully it’s a few of the more intelligent ones and I stress a few.” He said pointedly, looking at Suzannah.

“Anyway, first of all I’m sure you’ll have noticed the slight change in the classroom set up and the promise of dropping things on the board and that is exactly what we’re going to do. It’ll be like the old what’ll hit the floor faster and break first game although we’ll be applying the Unbreakable Charm to it see how useful it is. First of all, though, would someone like to tell me what the Unbreakable Charm is and does? I think it is fairly obvious but it’s good to check that you know these things. Often when learning spells the harder once are the ones you remember the most because they need work. Forgetting the simpler ones is always a bit of a bother.”

''As the name itself says, the Unbreakable Charm makes an object unbreakable. It is very practical with some valuable objects and for traps.'', he exclaimed, enthusiastically. He laughed a little at the professor's remark about Suzannah. He nodded gratefully, agreeing with his comment. Professor Gibbs was brilliant, talkative, funny and, what is most important, competent. Except of Wilson and McCoy, there was no one competent enough in the school, currently. He enjoyed these classes not just because of the lessons, but because of the professor.

Post by Alester Thoth Crowley Thu Apr 08, 2010 10:57 am

Alester strode purposefully into the room, house robes billowing behind him in his haste and he tugged at the hem of the sweater required of the uniform as his messenger bag shifted on his shoulder wrenching it askew, he cused under his breath as it appeared another class had started without him. Goddess be Damned! He took a seat near the door so as not to disturb the goings on in the room; and was consciously glad he had caught the boy's answer. Unbreakable Charms, alright... he knew the topic for the day; perhaps he hadn't missed too much then. He slid his bag silently to the floor and curled the parchment he had in his hand into a tube wondering if he would be reqired to present it as proof of his accepted presence in the class. So far none of his other professors had wanted the notice of his late admission into the school, and he wasn't certain if this one would either.

He watched attentatively with his silvery turquoise eyes waiting to be reprimanded again for his tardiness, two classes he had been late in now! He mentally cursed again at his misfortune.

((Growr... I watched this topic for days, then when I was gone for a couple the new one started up!? How uncouth! =( My apologies for my lateness... ))

Suzannah looked over to Arthur as he attempted to diss her. She only gave a little smirk and looked him up and down, then stood tall looking down at him- he must have been very short or she was very tall, she assumed he was short. "Yes I am aware of your presence, there was no need to inform me of it, thank you" She batted her eyelashes, "And I only asked if they were gossiping about boys in the presence of a boy because I assumed- due to the way you dress, your hair, your voice, and everything about you- that you would be gossiping about boys as well." In fact, she thought he was probably the one who began the topic. She chuckled to herself and gave Arthur an evil look before returning to her seat.

Suzannah's eyes widened in disgust at Professor Gibbs' comment, and she immediately stood to her feet. "Excuse me, Professor, I do not believe that comment was at all necessary. You should not point out if a person is a little slower than some " She looked directly at Arthur, "than some people, especially if said person is of great importance to this school." She smiled and sat down again, letting Gibbs proceed. Not only was Suz important to the school, but she was also very close to Majere, so she could get anyone- including Gibbs- in trouble for anything she wanted them to get in trouble for. Suz laughed to herself lowly as Arthur answered the given question. "Don't you think you should give other students a chance to answer? Or do you not fancy getting beat-out?" She spat cruelly.

(WOO I am having way too much fun with Suz xD I'm not used to it with Julia hehe. Sorry if it got out of hand or whatever Wink )

(No problem... just... Arthur is about 1,90m tall, he has normal, short hair (although Rowe always had longer) and the robes... I'll just consider that an insult I'll reply to XD)

''It seems that you cannot get more dumber than you are.'', he said, standing up. He was tall, exceptionally tall for his age and did no understand the nature of her remark. He could eat off her head. ''I doubt the robes would be a problem since your brother wears the same, just in a different color. Or is your brother actually your sister? And what is the problem with the haircut... again, your brother has similar length, even longer, perhaps. Your brother is a girl, obviously.'', he commented, sarcastically. ''I apologize professor, for interrupting the class, but I thought it was necessary. Unlike her empty remarks.'', he said, sitting down again.

[[OOC:I am enjoying this.]]
Mariana suddenly snapped as Arthur stood up next to her listening to what he was saying. That was not good for the class. "Calm down Arty discuss it with her after the class. Or you prefer to get a detention?" she advised him as he sat back down. After all what could he expect from a Malfoy they were all mainly same.

Gibbs sat back and watched things unfold. Clearly Arthur and Susannah weren’t on the best of terms but he didn’t think there was any need for the animosity towards each other. He was sure that the Malfoy ‘Princess’ would disagree though. Gibbs looked up at the sound of the door opening and let the children bicker between them. He was just glad that Arthur’s had a little more substance where as Susannah preferred to flaunt her name and social class around. She was indeed a typical Malfoy. Gibbs uncrossed his arms and smiled at the new comer who he was sure was Mr. Crowley. “Welcome to Hogwarts Mr. Crowley. Please sit down and take note of how to properly insult your peers, it seems Miss Malfoy and Mr. Poe are giving us a crash course.”

He walked over to the railing and leaned against it, deciding that it was high time to end the bickering between the Slytherin and the Gryffindor. It might have been harmless fun for the girl who had no other social skills apart from that but he didn’t take kindly to someone disrespecting a student on a completely different level of intelligence. It baffled him but he did understand the insecurities somewhat. “Miss Malfoy will you please develop an interest in something else? I fail to see how my student’s sexual preference or appearance has anything to do with this lesson. Clearly you have a great problems that need to be addressed my dear. This is a vain effort to fill your head with something other than air and you’re not making this any easier. I would actually like to teach today.”

He wondered why he chose to teach. This was probably one of the things that went in the ‘Why I shouldn’t’ column when he was considering it. Clearly he had overestimated the female population of Slytherin even more than he had originally thought. He hadn’t expected any of them to be particularly bright but this took the cake. “However, I would like to point out that this is not a Muggle Science lesson and I do hope that the human anatomy was covered at home with your parents where they would explain what makes up a girl and what makes up a boy. It might be a shock but the differences are in fact quite staggering. I worry; the young Malfoy heir clearly hasn’t been educated in one of the simplest forms of knowledge. He’ll definitely be on the road of discovery when he goes through his adult years.”

Gibbs sighed, what happened to wanting to teach? This was going to be one of those off topic lessons where they didn’t get to do anything fun because he was too busy explaining simple things to Slytherin’s with brains the size of peanuts. Actually, that was insulting to a peanut. It couldn’t have even been that big. “If any of you are on task then could you please take a personal item, perhaps a quill or in the case of Miss Malfoy perhaps a mirror. Something that will break easily so an ink pot or something equally as fragile but still used daily. Then, I would like you to cast the Unbreakable Charm on your item and drop it over the side of the railing. It’s all perfectly safe as long as you don’t push each other over the side in which case I hope something soft breaks your fall.” Gibbs said, flicking his wand at the board which quickly displayed the incantation.

Post by Alester Thoth Crowley Sat Apr 10, 2010 10:15 pm

Alester watched the verbal squabble with rapt interest... This was not heated discourse; however, it was rather humorous. He tore his attention from the bickering to acknowledge the Professor although he couldn't quite remove the interested smirk from his lips. The continuation of hte Professor's commentary revealed a bit of his attitudes. Apparently the house Alester was in wasn't thought of highly in this class... well to each his own. At least he was not of the dunderheaded variety the Professor was pointing out in front of the class.

He looked into his bag and thought, he did not have an ink bottle to test, and most definately did not carry around a mirror. His turquoise eyes shone their usual silvery hue as he pondered what he could possess that would work for this task, he was not very often to be found with breakable items in his possession, they were, of course, breakable and as such a bother to carry around. He looked around and brought out the queen of wands briefly, accio gazing ball he said quietly and as he was still positioned close to the door opened it and plucked the glass ball from the air as it arrived. He looked around surreptitiously hoping he had not done anything untoward, but it was the first breakable item he could call to mamory to use in this scenario.

He made his way to the platform without much interest in what his classmates were doing anymore and read through the directions the professor had up on the board. He used the queen of wands to direct his focus and quietly stated the incantation and dropped his glass ball, about the size of a large grapefruit, over the edge of the platform. It hit the floor and bounced twice before he accioed it again into his hand. He stepped back out of focus of his classmates and leaned against the farthest side of the platform, the glass had not broken, so his charm had been successful. a flash of sliver shone in his eyes at his success.

Just as quickly a flash of black passed over his gaze at the thought of testing the charm on an unsuspecting person and tossing them off a tower to see if they too would bounce like the glass ball had yet not "break." He wondered if any of his classmates had a rare gift of gleaning and heard his thoughts... oh well they shouldn't be spying into his mind then; it was not as if he would act on the thought.... at least not at school anyhow.

Arthur smiled, satisfied, once again, with professor Gibbs' reply. He nodded gratefully. ''Do not worry, Mariana. I have everything under control.'', he whispered to her ear. He then concentrated on the task. What to use? He could use his ink bottle... but that would be too obvious. Yes, he had it. He took one of his quills and transformed it into a wine glass. He then pointed his wand at the glass and use the Unbreakable Charm on it.

Since he used it non-verbally, he had to check if he had succeeded. He took the glass and knocked with it, a few times, on the table. Not even a scratch. It seems that he has succeeded. He then took the glass and threw it, as if he was playing darts, at the professors table. It, of course, fell, but it did not break. He then summoned it back to his desk. ''There professor... it seems that I would to in catering. I would never break anything.'', Arthur said.

NEWTS - Class Three - Page 2 Empty Re: NEWTS - Class Three

Post by Suzannah Malfoy Sun Apr 11, 2010 1:21 am

Suzannah found it very unnecessary for Arthur to drag Scorpius into the argument "Arthur, my brother is absolutely nothing to this argument, so I suggest you drop him from the topic" She said in a defensive tone. "Scorpius isn't a girl, if you had any common sense you would understand that. And that is the last I am going to say about him"

Suzannah then turned to Professor Gibbs, who was at it again with the back-handed insults. "Well, sir, I do have many other interests, however I find it very insulting for you to single one student out in front of the whole class, it is very immature and I will not tolerate it. Suzannah said in an upset tone, which made her feel like the teacher, and Gibbs the student. "Also, I do not believe my head is filled with air, if it were I would not be standing and breathing here right now. Thank you" Suz was beginning to get heated now, but she dropped it, as she will have it out with him after class.

She sat back down at her desk to face the task. Suzannah searched through her bag for something to use and, just like Gibbs suggested, she found a mirror. She drew her wand out from her pocket and held it to the mirror as she leaned over the platform. Suz held the mirror up and mumbled the incantation for the Unbreakable Charm on it before dropping it to the ground. She smiled widely as the mirror touched the ground, and did not break, she felt accomplished, and that she had shown Gibbs and Poe that she really was smart. "Professor Gibbs, I finished" She called in a high tone, completely putting the argument aside.

Suzannah looked to her side and noticed a new student leaning on the side of the platform, his eyes at a flash of success in them, just as her's did. "Hello there" She said kindly "Have you finished? I'm Suzannah as Professor Gibbs quite clearly pointed out" She said the last part of her sentence in disgust. She hated when people would call her stupid and such, because she was quite bright, she just never really applied herself.

((Teachers can also be very mean to students Razz lol I'm having fun in this class Wink ))
