Rain, Sun and Flying Fun

Elijah was distracted. He hadn’t been able to focus in any of his lessons but that wasn’t exactly abnormal for him. He didn’t usually pay attention, preferring to sketch or compose new pieces of music in his head. He was wasting valuable time and he didn’t have an answer as to why he couldn’t concentrate. So if he couldn’t do anything he truly enjoyed then it was probably why he was training in the rain. Eli had been outside since second lesson and he’d seen every aspect of the Scottish weather. It was beginning to get a bit much now.

He landed his broom and pulled his soaking wet shirt off. Eli ran a hand through his hair and shook himself, trying to get as much water off of him as possible. Eli made his way inside to the showers with a frown on his face. Nachash was hissing on his arm, complaining about the weather. He smirked and the snake hissed at him before moving around a little, loosening the tight coils around his arm. She draped herself around his chest and down on his lower abdomen. She was huge. Even Eli was slightly shocked.

(Nachash is a snake that was bonded to Eli. She’d like a tattoo for the most part but she can leave his skin and the communicate via Parseltongue)

Lily wondered what insane part of her mind thought that going to have fly in the rain would be a perfect cure to her homework blues. But still the Gryffindor, trudged down to the Qudditch stadium, her red curls bouncing along on her shoulders as she adjusted the broom under her arm and paused, making sure the pitch was empty before pulling her scarf and hat on tighter and mounting her broom, her feet succssesfully pushing her off the ground and into the air.

Even though the weather was less than pleasurable, it felt oddly peaceful up in the sky. Like she was the only person on earth. But sadly the rain was drowning her slightly and Lily wasn't a fan of cold weather and the rain was making her shiver. She circled the pitch once ignoring the howling noise that rang through her ears and focusing on what little of the landscape she could see ahead.

After five laps of the pitch, Lily gave up. There was no way she could practice in these conditions and she was bonkers to try to. Lily prepared herself to land. But in usual Lily manner she misjudged her breaking abilities and the stablitlity of the mud, causing herself to crash ungracefully into a large puddle of mud.

The Slytherin showers were decorated much like one would expect – with green walls, silver trimmings and black furniture. Eli would have been lying if he said he wasn’t slightly put out by all of the green but it was what came with being in the house he was in. That and the prejudice from all of the other houses. Eli walked inside the changing room and peeled off his sopping wet jeans. He felt as if he’d been thrown into the lake but it clearly wasn’t the case. Eli put his broom to the side and pulled off the rest of his clothing, leaving the dog collar and Slytherin necklace on around his neck and the leather bracelets around his wrists. He yawned and turned on one of the showers. He slipped into the stall and took the bar of soap off of the rack.

One Eli was clean; he jumped out of the shower stall and got dressed. He pulled his clean, white t-shirt over his head and ran a hand through his hair. Eli picked up his broom again and left the changing rooms. He walked out onto the pitch in time to see a redheaded girl crash into a rather large puddle of mud. Eli smirked and stifled a laugh. He rested his broom against the wall and walked out towards the mud. Eli crouched down and poked the redhead in the back. He smirked again and shook his head. “Alright there?”

Lily groaned and glanced upwards at the sound of a unfamiliar voice and a poke on her. If it had of been one of her family members or even Lysander she could easily brush this off but because this was a guy, a cute guy, Lily blushed furiously thankful her hair had managed to miss the mud. Scowling at her clumsiness, Lily wiped some of the mud off her chin and said as she sat up.

"Do I look it?" Lily asked in a semi sarcastic tone before realizing that could be considered an innuendo and she blushed heavier. She stood up slowly and absently wiped the larger clumps of mud off of her pants before picking up her abanoned Nimbus. Lily turned back to the unfamiliar boy.

"I thought I'd be the only stupid one to fly a broom today. Who are you?" She asked in infuriating curiousity. This guy seemed a little full off himself or at least sort of immature. Lily usually hated that. But this guy was making her go as red as Uncle Ron confronted by her mother in a bad mood.

Mud wasn’t the most attractive thing to see on a woman. Although, he’d gotten his sister covered in it enough times. He did realise though that even his sister couldn’t wear the mud with as much class as their Quidditch teacher did in their youth. That woman looked like a Queen even if she was head to toe in the rubbish. Eli smiled a little at the girl and wiped a bit of the mud off of her cheek. She’d missed that bit. Eli caught the innuendo and smiled. She looked pretty when she blushed but he wasn’t about to admit it if he could help it. He sounded like Fauve when he did that as she commented on everything. He expected that she’d picked it up from Nachash.

“Not really no.” Eli said, shrugging and deciding to ignore the possibly innuendo. He watched her stand and remained where he was in front of the puddle of brown liquid. He watched the girl and noticed the undertone of feistiness coming from her. He liked it quite a bit and knew it probably needed to be brought out a bit more.

Eli rose to his full height which did seem to tower over her. He was an impressive 6’0 and was still growing. Eli didn’t want to be a giant but Fauve seemed to enjoy his height. She claimed that it was more of a challenge to try and climb him. Eli crossed his arms over his chest and raised an eyebrow at her. “It doesn’t make you stupid to fly a broom.” Eli pointed out. “It makes you stupid to land in mud.” He smirked at her and looked her up and down. He knew exactly who she was. He didn’t know many people who had the Weasley red hair but she wasn’t a Weasley. No, she was a Potter. The littlest Potter. “Elijah Krum.” He said easily. “Lily Potter, yes?” His Bulgarian accent was heavy and he was drawing out nearly every word. He smirked a little and decided to keep to his English accent. The French one was even more fun to mess with but he didn’t want to scare her.

Lily scowled when he said it was stupid to land in mud. It wasn't as though she had planned it. Or she had gone, 'Oh that little puddle of mud looks nice, I might go for a tumble in it.' Lily was one to give people the benefit of the doubt but this guy was really starting to strain her nerves. Not that they'd been in perfect condition lately.

"Yeah, that's my name." Lily said with a hint of bitterness. It wasn't as though she hated her last name, far from it. But sometimes it got tiring to have everyone know her name. And know she was the little girl who had lost her father. Lily hated being a little girl. "Krum, eh? That last name sounds familiar." Lily said with a small hint of curiousity. She wondered where she had heard it before. She knew it had something to do with Qudditch. She shrugged off her thoughts and added,

"I wasn't planning on tumbling into a puddle, it just kind of happened!" She defended herself than wished she could take the words back. She sounded like a whiny brat. It was all Elijah's fault in her opinion. He had wrecked her nerves within five minutes of meeting her.

He could almost see the cogs working in her mind. Eli was glad he wasn’t losing touch with women. He could still rile them up no matter what their age. Lily seemed like a little fireball anyway and this interested Eli to no end. It was a challenge for him. How far could he push her before she hexed him? He put that away for later, knowing that it could be explored.

Eli detected the slight irritation and he bit his lip. But it was his turn to become slightly guarded about his own name. He looked down at his hands and lifted his left hand to run it through his hair. He wasn’t sure how to explain his heritage. He doubted that he was known to her because of his art or music. He doubted that very highly. No, Eli knew that it was because of that ponce on the broom that made his name known. He hated his father with a passion and his mother wasn’t excluded from that hatred. It was only his sister that he seemed to like and love. “Oh, you know Cecilia?” he asked, carefully skirting around the question.

Eli smirked at Lily and shook his head. “I’m not saying you were. Who in their right mind decides to fly into mud? I think you might just need to work on braking and/or landing.” He knew that Nachash was probably hissing up a storm from wherever she was. He knew he’d flown into mud a few times to annoy his mother but that was when he was a lot younger. He wasn’t about to mention that to the redhead, either. He was being hypocritical but she entertained him.

"It wasn't either that caused me to fall, I'm just really clumsy!" Lily defended her flying abilities before blushing. She knew that it sounded stupid that she couldn't even land properly because she was that clumsy. But it was true and it wasn't as though she was trying to impress Elijah, right? 'Wrong,' a small voice in her mind that sounded strangly like Lysander said. Lily huffed at that thought before saying.

"Aren't you in Slytherin?" Lily asked in a slightly irritated tone, this time not directed toward Elijah but at herself. Lily had nothing against Slytherin's, her own brother was one, but she knew it was hard to trust most of them regardless of what house they were in. It was more what they believed in any house that worried Lily. But of course she didn't judge a book by it's cover.

"Not that I don't like Slytherins, I just know that most of them don't like me." Lily explained quickly so Elijah wouldn't be offended. Not that she cared if he was or not. Or she'd like to think she didn't.

There’s that blush again. Eli thought with a small smile. His hand twitched a little. He was desperate to find out where that blush went. It covered her cheeks and neck but did it go elsewhere? That was the million galleon question. He was an artist and he tended to paint his women with their faces flushed. He’d always want to find out just how far down the blush went though. It interested him to no end because it was different for each woman. Eli mentally rolled his eyes at himself. He’d spent way too much time in Paris.

He bit his lip but felt slightly relieved when she elaborated. He didn’t want her to hate him just because of the house he’d been put in. What was the point in that? It was a label and a few green-trims on various pieces of clothing. He had a Slytherin emblem instead of a tie but he’d lost that so he’d put one on the front of the locket pendent that hung from the leather chocker around his neck. Inside that pendent was a picture of Fauve and another of Nachash trying to eat the camera. Both were funny pictures. Fauve’s one was one of her in the Paris loft with her extensive teddy bear collection. He spoiled that girl rotten but he knew she’d turn out right.

“Um, yeah.” Eli said awkwardly. “I wouldn’t call myself a normal Slytherin to be honest. I don’t spend a lot of time in those dungeons.”

Lily nodded with a small smile. "I'm not that anyone would want to spend an extended amount of time in the dungeons. I don't think Albus likes it either but it's hard to tell with him." Lily said with a small shrug. That was true, Lily didn't really know what her brothers were thinking half the time, the only way she knew that the dungeon common rooms weren't the best place was from her older cousin Victoire. But she obviously didn't really like anywhere that didn't have a tanning spot.

"What year are you in? I think I've seen you around before in the middle of my constant stumbles." Lily asked curiously as she used her already muddy t-shirt to clean the handle of her Nimus 2000 and praying that she'd be able to get any mud out of it's strands otherwise she'd have to get out her cleaning kit and go bonkers with the clippers. She didn't hate cleaning her broom, she actually found it a pleasent experience but when it came to the clippers, she was always afraid she cut to much of the stray twigs off.
