Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Ravenclaw Practice (Calling the Ravenclaw team!) Empty Ravenclaw Practice (Calling the Ravenclaw team!)

Post by James Wake Thu Feb 18, 2010 3:50 pm

James was not one to take his sports seriously. For him, Quidditch was a pass time. A little thing on the side. Nothing of grave import. That was his stance, and he was going to stick by it. But that did not mean he did not see the use of practice. It was important to remind the team that they were supposed to be a team. Thus, James took it upon himself to call together the team. He sat on a side bench of the Stadium, hoping that someone would show up. On his team, of course.

Derek had just signed up for the team even though quiditch still wasn't his stronger side though beating a bludger was so he decided to at least try. His broomstick was over his shoulder like he was in the army or something. He noticed he wasn't the only one there, but there was some Rawenclaw boy he never saw before. "Umm Hi stranger." he muttered as he approached close enough so this one could hear him.

"Hey. I'm James Wake," James said, jerking out of his slouching position. "Are you also on the Ravenclaw team? Sorry to say that I have yet to make your acquaintance," he continued, adopting the formal tongue he used for introduction. "I'm one of the Chasers," he concluded, offering Derek his real hand. The false one gripped his rebellious broom. So far, it had not even attempted to budge. But why take the risk?

Belle walked out with her broom calm as ever in her hands, she spotted James whom she had met at the begging of the year and a new Raveclaw she had not yet met. She had just signed up and was the Sub-Captain though she was still unsure who the Captain was.

Her long raven hair was braided down her back as she came forward and smiled at James. "Hey there, long time no talk James." She smiled at the new guy, "Hey I'm Belle you can call me Bell though, everyone does. I'm your Sub-Captain and Seeker, pleased to meet you."

Ravenclaw Practice (Calling the Ravenclaw team!) Empty Re: Ravenclaw Practice (Calling the Ravenclaw team!)

Ginevra walked onto the field, sighing as she did. There team hadn't done so hot in the last game, and it was really time for them to pick it up. People had to learn commitment as far as she was concerned, and now with Christy doing who knows what, she wasn't sure what was happening. Dealing with her own personal problems in the midst of all of this, Ginevra was one to put them aside and do it. She hated people who joined something and quit. There was no point to it. She was competitive by nature, and wanted to do good for the sake of not having to feel down on what she did wrong. With her broom in her hand, Ginevra finished getting into her Quiddich robes and walked into the Stadium. Three people were there, that was all. Murmuring to herself, she stopped as she reached the people. "GInevra Malenki, if you're not already aware of it. I'm one of the other chasers." she annouced, doing a quick introduction. Ginevra could come off as rude at times, but in reality she was a decent girl when you got to know her. She just tended to be.. direct right off the bat. Not commenting on the fact that 'Belle' and 'Bell' sounded the exact same to her, she just listened as everybody else talked. She was aware who everybody was, as she was always on top of names, whether they knew her as well or not. "Shall we get warmed up?" she suggested, as standing there wasn't doing no good.

"Hey Belle. Its been a while, I guess. How're you holding up?" James' mouth curled into a genuine smile, a rare sight for the book-obsessed young man.
"Very well. We have two chasers, our keeper and our Seeker. We need to practice as a team though, so, I guess, for now anyways, we'll have our keeper man the goal posts, while Ginerva and I quarry the quaffle. Belle, what do you usually do during your practice?" James was no coach, nor was he an expert on the sport of Quidditch. But he knew that if no one was willing to take the leadership role at this point, then he would need to take command. He had, after all, called out the practice. James gingerly opened the Quidditch Chest he had been loaned by the Games Master.

James grasped the quaffle, his fingers gripping the leathery ball. Its structure and weight felt oddly unbalancing in his hand. He half-tossed, half-lugged the ball to Ginevra. It was an alright throw. Once James freed up his Alchemic Arm, his aim would be greatly enhanced. Until then, he had to rely upon the disregarded muscle of his real left arm. James made a mental note to give exercising a shot. He boarded his broom, and, much to his surprise, found it quick reasonable. He gripped the neck of the wood, and willed it to rise. It did.

Maybe things wouldn't be so bad this time.

"Not bad James." Belle had replied. And then listened to his game plan, "This is my first one James, I just signed up because half the team got booted. I played as a kid but I haven't done so since. I just remember loving the feel of the broom beneath me as I sped through the sky trying to find the little bugger and dodge those blasted things." She said pointing at the chest.

James had to think now. If only they had the third chaser. James weighed his options. An idea hit him, but he felt it would undermine the "teamwork" platform he had been trying to build. He nearly sighed as he lowered his broom to the stadium floor.
"Ok, here's the new plan. Ginerva, you try to throw a quaffle through the hoops. Derek. You're going to try to stop her. Each time you do, give yourself a point. Each time the quaffle passes through the hoops, Ginerva gets a point. Alternate hoops every ten scores. Belle- I'm going to use a levitation spell on a small rock to act as your snitch. You think that would help?"

Belle mounted her broom and smiled at James. "You got it, how come you don't go for the Captain position anyway James? You would be great at it." She said she floated over to where he was at. "Anyway think on it, but I am ready to go whenever you are."

"Having a plan, seeing it through and building a Quidditch team? Sounds a bit too social for me," James replied, smirking just a bit, as he cast Wingardium Leviosa on a good-sized rock. "We're going to go a little bit easy this time around. Try to catch the rock." With those orders, James swept his wand about, the rock swiftly following the arc the wand formed.
