Starting the Job

Garulia strode into Sparks feeling on top of the world. This would be a steady job, even if he still performed on the side. Plus he would be working for Khaat, so it would be a good conversation anyway.
"Hey Khaat! You wanted me as an assistant?" he shouted into the restaurant.


OOC: We're still on for that, right?

OOC: We are! Rob is going to be the chef/manager, so he will actually be your supervisor.

Khaat was in the kitchen going over the menu and the pantry when she heard Gar enter. She bounced up and went out and saw him coming in. "Hey! My favorite teenage son," She smiled, "You're right on time. Rob is taking over in the kitchen as the chef because he's a really great cook. So? What do you think of the place? You think it will do?"

"It...is...amazing," Garulia said looking around, mouth falling open. All the tables and that were cool, and it made his eyes water. "When I'm off work I'll be eating here!"
At this he burst out laughing, then he shouted into the back "Robby! The important one is here!"

Khaat laughed and watched him head back to the back to find Rob. Khaat liked Gar. He had a lot of potential to be a really great wizard when he grew up. He had the right values. Knew the value of hard work, knew how to survive. And had chosen what she fully believed to be the right side. She was really looking forward to Rob's influence on Gar to help provide him a good strong adult male in his life. Gar would not be good long term in a household of women, she knew. She was very glad he liked Rob.

"Wait, where is he?" Gar asked Khaat, walking back. Suddenly there was someone walking in. "Oh crap it's opening time."
Soon he had gathered the middle-aged wizard at a table and handed him his menu.
"Something to drink?"
"Just water, please."
Gar rushed to get it and handed the man a tall glass with water in it. The man nodded his thanks and Garulia left him to figure out what he wanted.

Hurrying back to Khaat, he asked "how'd I do?"

"You're a natural," Khaat laughed. "Good work. You're gonna do just fine. Give him a moment, and you'll be able to see when he's ready to order. You'll know. When that happens, take the order, and deliver it to Rob. He'll have an order he wants the tickets kept in so that it doesn't get confusing in the kitchen. And you'll learn about how long it takes him to get your order ready, but It shouldn't be more than a few minutes at best. "

Garulia smiled and took the man's order.
"Right away, sir. Shan't be but a few minutes," he said in a businesslike tone. Rushing off, he put the paper at the kitchen window. "Order up, Robby boy!"
Laughing he went back to Khaat. "Now we wait?"

"Well, yes and no. Let me show you some of the other duties you can do here to fill your time." She showed him a whole list of things that he could do to be very helpful to Rob, whether it was helping in the kitchen, using magic to wash the dishes, cleaning tables, refilling salt and pepper shakers or condiment containers of all sorts, learning how to make the specialty beverages--training him how to be a proper coffee barrista to make the elegant expensive coffee drinks properly, a whole list of things that would help him in his job and also, if he someday wanted to run the Bistro, he'd know how to do every job in the place. Khaat saw the customer's order come up. "You're on, Gar. Go make the man happy." she smiled.

Miseria entered the bistro what Khaat had opened lately. She didn't know if she could handle this work, though, this all waitress thing sounded easy-peasy. When she entered the little hall where all the tables and chairs were, she smiled widenly, and waved at Gar and Khaat:"Hi!" she greeted them, and walked fast there.
"Alright, what are the orders, mom?" she asked, taking out her wand, and pointing with it at her hair, she made a ponytail.

"Well, most important is teaching you how to wait on customers," Khaat said. She gave her an order book and had her follow Khaat through waiting on a couple of customers so she understood how it was done. Then she showed her other kitchen tasks that she already knew Mis was good at, like filling salt and pepper shakers, wiping tables clean, magicallly setting the dirty dishes in the kitchen to wash themselves, and how to make the special Sparks charms with her wand to have magical creatures made of colored sparks that would flit and flutter around the ceiling and how to change their shapes, so that glittering blue butterflies, or pink birthday cakes would float around the ceiling and delight the customers. "Give it a try," Khaat smiled. "There probably isn't anything here you can't do."
