Jemma shook her head and picked up the mug of coffee. "No, nothing." she told her friend. She didn't take anything in her coffee, she just liked it black. She sipped the drink as she listened to Gabrielle talking, telling her about her late husband.
Jemma was quite curious to know about this, so was listening carefully to every single word Gabrielle said. Died in battle? How tragic. I'm glad Gabrielle feels comfortable talking to me about it, though. It sounds like she's forgiven me. "I'm so sorry, Gabrielle, that's awful." she commented, not really knowing what to say to it.
"Er, well I had Marie many years ago, only about a year after I graduated. She wasn't exactly, planned." Jemma told Gabrielle. At the time, having a child out of marriage had been seen as shameful, but people seemed to find it less so now. "My boyfriend at the time didn't particularly want to raise a child. He freaked out when I told him I was pregnant. We had been planning to do the 'tour of the wizarding world', the one so many students to after they graduate. Anyway, he left without me and I've never seen him since." she finished.
Oh, how he left me. I still can't believe he did. To this day. I'll never see him again, of that I am sure. That was an awful time. Everyone thought I was awful for having a child out of marriage and I didn't even have his support. Mum was the only one there for me. Plus a couple of friends. Oh, the old days...
