Wandering the Streets ~open~

Khaat had taken the weekend to get away, to go to London. She had apparated her cats and Archangel back to Cornwall to her parents to care for them for a couple days.

She had taken to muggle clothes and had chosen boot cut jeans, her favorite tan suede boots, a plain white cotton buttondown shirt, a full length tan suede winter coat, matching suede gloves, and a teal blue winter scarf that was wide, shawl width. She had used it to drape around her head to keep the wind out of her ears. She had her black leather tote slung on her shoulder and was doing some shopping. She turned a corner, trying to duck out of a bitter gust of december wind, when she ran smack into someone. She looked to see who she'd run into and saw Anastasia.

"Oh dear! Anastasia! Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry. Are you alright? Goodness! What are you doing so far from Hogwarts?" Khaat asked, concerned for her.

Khaat smiled, "I love muggle things. I grew up in a fishing village in Cornwall, where muggles and wizards live together. I grew up around all kinds of muggle things. What would you like to see? And--are you just here for the day, or are you staying someplace?"

"Sure. Let's go look at some 'muggle magic,' " Khaat laughed, "There's a store in the next block you just have to see. Khaat took her to a modern appliance store to show her all about telephones, ipods, computers, blurays, microwaves, and all the rest. There was so much to know, but she thought that would be an interesting start. She wanted to show her a fast food restaurant, and eventually show her Heathrow Airport to show her muggles ideas about flying. So different from using a broom.

"They're machines to help muggles communicate and cook and listen to music, and all sorts of things. They're amazingly creative, these muggles. Come look at these. " She showed her mp3s and showed her how they stored music and videos and taught her about videos. "But," she said, "you might like these better for in Hogwarts. Reception has to be terrible there. But you could use this." She showed her a cd player and how it played music and books and all sorts of things on a little flat disk, and showed her how she could take all the music and books she wanted with her and be the talk of any student in Hogwarts. Then she showed her the thousands and thousands of different CD's the store had to choose from.

"Songs, speeches, books, movies, television shows, concerts, " Khaat explained. She found a tv in the store that was showing a television show and another showing a movie. She showed her the tv, the movies, and animation, and explained it was muggle entertainment and a place where someone could find themselves watching the machine for hours on end. She showed her video games, which smetimes was as close to magic as a muggle could get.

Then she showed her microwaves, and modern small appliances like hair dryers, food processors, blenders, popcorn poppers, and all sorts of gadgets that muggles liked. Then she said, "But if you really want to see something special, you have to see how a muggle flies."
