Amelia, who had never been all that fond of insects, was not entirely pleased to hear that they would be working with Vampyr Mosps today. Of all the cross-species transfiguration spells, it was unfortunate that the professor had chosen this one. She copied down dutifully the information Arthur provided, correct as he always was. Her curly script covered the piece of parchment that lay slightly curled on her desk, her quill moving until the professor gave the go ahead for each of them to attempt the spell.
Taking a deep breath, Amelia eyed the box in front of her cautiously. The idea of opening a box which contained a particularly large insect was not at all appealing to her, but neither was embarrassing herself in front of the professor and her peers. Wand in hand, she lifted the lid of the box with her left hand, dropping it next to the box and holding her wand at the ready.
Although she had been expecting it, when the vampyr mosp rose from the box Amelia was slightly stunned by its speed and agility. While Arthur's mosp had held still for him to transform it, she seemed to have gotten a particularly feisty one. Taking advantage of her shock, the mosp made an attempt to get away from her, breaking toward the side of the room on which Arthur sat. Knowing she had to act quickly or risk missing her chance to perform the spell at all, Amelia moved her wand in a U shape, as represented by the professor earlier, and directed the spell at the escaping insect.
Vermiculus! Amelia shouted, her voice far louder than necessary. The vampyr mosp lit up momentarily before transforming into a worm. This would have pleased Amelia had the event following it not been so traumatizing.
The worm, under gravity's strict influence, fell directly onto Arthur's head.
"Oh!" Amelia exclaimed, her face turning a shocking shade of red. The embarrassed Ravenclaw girl rushed to cover her face with her hands to hide her distress, though the colour was steadily climbing to her ears.
