The hawk patronus which had emanated from Amelia's wand did not immediately dissipate after the dementor had been thwarted. Instead, it remained on her shoulder until the memories which had made Amelia panic before had subsided. The warmth which radiated from the creature helped her to find herself again, and it was only after she had begun to think rationally again that the hawk took flight into the rafters, disappearing gradually as he ascended.
Amelia followed the group up the stairs, choosing not to question Christabelle's "feeling" about which direction they should go. She had learned long ago not to tell other Hogwarts students about her feelings on divination and "seeing", though most of them could probably guess by her logical thought process about most things. Amelia just couldn't bring herself to believe things she could not see, nor to understand how anyone could predict the future. To her, it was likely large-scale delusions meant to calm the fear that often came with looking to the future and realizing you are just as blind as everyone else.
The girl who had joined them looked to be much younger than the rest of the group, but she seemed friendly enough. When she pointed out the obvious Amelia smirked a bit, having recently discovered that this habit seemed to plague most of the students of Hogwarts. In response, Amelia raised her wand to light the passage, the light this time falling on a closed door on which was written an inscription in deep, black lettering:
A chest without hinges key or lid but inside golden treasures are hid. What is the chest and what is the treasure?
“It’s an egg,” Amelia said automatically, her voice echoing in the tiny dark space. The fact that she had answered so quickly surprised even her, but it seemed she had not been wrong. The door which had at first been latched tightly close swung open before them, releasing a hoard of bats which flew out at them immediately.
Ick! Amelia thought, ducking her head and covering it with her arms. She wasn’t afraid of bats, but she certainly didn’t want any nesting in her hair either.
