Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Keith raised his eyebrows. Any kind of school knowledge anyone could pull up that fast was definitely something to be impressed of. She had just saved him nearly 10 minutes of rifling through the book, reading the definition, and debating to himself just how effective a bezoar would be. He began scribbling on the parchment, scratching a few lines out and re-writing them. He compared the bezoar to a variety of healing potions, based on how effective it was, how difficult it was to get, etc. etc. Finally he shoved his potions book back into his bag. "Done with that," he said, eyeing the large amount of homework still left. "You said the levitation spell was easy?"

Waiting until Keith was done, she was fine with him getting definitions from her as long as a) if he didn't understand what she was saying, he asked once more to get it clarified and b) he didn't just put down her words. The professors knew how she stated things by now since she had a specfic type of writing, like everyone else did, but a unique one at that. Ginevra always had to do things a certain way too, or else it bothered her. Having seen him do his own wording, she laid back and just didn't move until he was done, speaking up again to let her know. Nodding, she sat back up and faced him. "Get out your wand." she told him, getting out her own from behind her ear. Usually it was stuck in her bra, but today she had been a more classy and girl-like, proper, in other words. Pulling her own bag towards her, she took out a textbook and placed it on the ground. "Let's start out with a textbook instead, harder to easier instead of easier to harder. Unless you do want to do it the usual way." she wasn't going to be demanding, but it tended to be her nature, therefore she just corrected herself in the end to make it so that she at least tried not to be.

Keith shrugged, yanking his wand out of his pocket. "You're the one who knows the spell." he said, standing up. He waved it experimentally once or twice, and the light around it seemed to shimmer and cave inward, making the wand seem much larger than before. Keith grinned. That was kind of cool. Now if only he could remember how he did that....

Ginevra watched the boy experiement at first, noticing right away that he had already forgotten the movement that was key to making this spell work. "Watch my wrist." she instructed, her wand pointed at the textbook. She moved it in a 'swish and flick' motion and then repeated it for his sake. Saying 'wingardium leviosa' in her head, the textbook levitated and she moved it around. Placing it back on the table, she grinned. That had been showing off, since she was at the point that she no longer had to say them aloud. "Wingardium leviosa" she repeated, now like he should, looking at him, just making sure he was paying attention to her hand movement. Once again placing it back on the ground, she glanced over at Keith. "Concentrate and try now."

Keith stared in amazement as Ginevra lifted the book into the air without uttering a word. He had seen people do that of course, mainly his mom and dad, but he had always though that was super advanced ninja technique that they taught you after you became a parent. He had had no idea that any student at Hogwarts could do it, and had to shake his head to keep his mind focused. When she placed the book back, Keith pushed his mind back into gear, focusing on getting this assignment done.

"Wingardium leviosa." He said, swishing and flicking his wand like she had shown him. The book wobbled once or twice, and fell off the table. Keith puffed a bit of air out of his bottom lip, causing his bangs to fly up. He did that a lot when he was annoyed. "Wingardium Leviosa." He said again, and this time the book actually raised an inch or two off the ground before collapsing.

Ginevra had a lot of determination herself, so she had learned the spell on her own, without the help of teachers or experienced wizards. Proving herself wasn't something she had to do for anyone but herself, and that was what she had been doing. Proving to herself she could do anything, or almost anything, difficult if she put her mind to it. That was the most important part of this all. Clapping once the book raised, she smiled. He was trying and if he had lifted that back the first time, she would have been amazed. "Try your swish and flick a little more exaggerant, see if that helps. It may not, but for some it does." she suggested, her eyes staying upon the textbook.

Keith nodded, pointing his wand at the book again, which now lay on the floor. Scrunching up his eyebrows, he swished and flicked his wand in a highly exaggerated motion. "Wingardium Leviosa!" He commanded, focusing all of his will of seeing the book rise into the air. The book wobbled a bit, and...against all odds...actually hovered to around waist height. Keith let out a whoop of excitement and flicked his wand this way and that, causing the book to float lazily around the room. He prodded the statue of Rowena Ravenclaw before the book flopped to the floor.

Snickering, he seemed real cheerful at the fact that he had done it, which was really a great thing. "Congrats!" she told him, clapping her hands together once in her own slight excitement. Seeing someone do a spell for the first time was actually something real amazing, whether no one else agreed with her on that or not.
