Personality: Sophia is a very good friend, a very passionate learner, and sometimes dense as a box of rocks. She also compares herself to others too often, and is very good at beating herself up for things that are not her fault. In addition, she does not like brand new things and actually seeks out secondhand items (she says they have "character"). Also, she thinks reptiles are awesome.
She's really excellent at History of Magic (she's really good at reading dry tomes and picking out facts), Potions (getting a list of instructions and needing to follow them exactly: Sophie finds this really fun), Divination (she thinks it's a load of crock, but she's sweet to the teacher and she finds it interesting)
Her weaker subjects include Herbology (she's allergic to most plants), Transfiguration (there's always something off about her end results), Care Of Magical Creatures (again, allergies.)
Skills: Sophia is very passionate at what she loves; once she finds something that interests her, she is able to attack it with great gusto. She is also incredibly friendly and is able to put people at ease very well. Sophia is bright, not a genius, but above average for sure.
Weaknesses: She has a very intense temper that she is learning to control. It used to be a lot worse, honest. Sophia also can get very frustrated, and then gets frustrated because she is frustrated and...it's just all a very vicious cycle. She can be a bit clueless sometimes, as well. It's sometimes difficult for her to tell if someone is upset by something she says, because she just figures they'd tell her.
Likes: punk rock, springtime, being joyful
Dislikes: boring people, littering, electromagnetic waves (they give her headaches)
Family Information: Gregory McKenna, a good Scottish boy, moved to London in an attempt to find a better job in the 1990s. He took up a job as a bartender in some seedy sort of restaurant and met Penny Lyndall, a very pretty waitress there. Penny had just come off an 8 year relationship with a musician who was very good to her, but had a severe cocaine problem, and she ended up leaving him. Six months after Gregory and Penny started dating (and, by extension, having sex), Penny found out she was pregnant. Gregory and Penny never married, but they have been together ever since, staying well into the lower middle class, never quite scraping bottom, but not very rich, either. They love each other, and they love Sophia very much.
Background: Sophia McKenna Lyndall was born to two Muggles, who raised her in a small but comfortable house for most of her life. They realized there might be something a tad strange about her when, at the age of 5, she was able to stop a falling teapot in midair and place it back atop the stove by merely looking at it. It wasn't that big of a surprise, then, when she got her letter at the age of 11. She has had no major traumatic experiences, her parents love her, she has never been clinically depressed, et cetera, et cetera. She feels that her past does not shape her, her present does, so she attempts to make her present more interesting to get past her boring untraumatic past.
Short Roleplay: In a well lit corner of the library, away from the hustle and bustle of the corridors outside, Sophia Lyndall chews desperately on a quill and attempts to figure out exactly what the heck her Arithmancy textbook is talking about.
She groans nearly inaudibly and pushes the text away, leaning back in her chair and stretching her feet out in front of her. It had gotten to the point where she would probably be better off not going to Arithmancy for the rest of the term and instead attempt to even catch up to the rest of her class, safe and warm and pajama-d in her dormitory. "I bet they wouldn't even know I was gone." Sophia mumbles petulantly under her breath.
Sophia flips the text closed with a bang and picks up a History Of Magic required reading - now this is interesting, she thinks, opening to a dogeared page and taking out a scrap of parchment. But alas, not even History Of Magic can distract her from the fact that the sun is shining from the window and hitting her table in the best way, or that she can see a Quidditch game happening down the grounds- Sophia shakes her head, tries to concentrate on the page...before her gaze slides back to the half open window, a breeze ruffling her parchment. She gazes out into the middle distance, hoping anyone would come distract her from studying. She feels so guilty being distracted alone...
