Who in family is a Veela? Mother. Father (Jacob Chang) who had previously been happily married to Emily Chang had a one night stand with a veela, who's. name is still unknown to Laura. This relationship officially catalyzed the end of Emily and Jacob's mairraidge which had been building up other problems for years. The nameless veela left Laura on her father's doorstep. She has two half sisters and a half brother, all of which are older than she and none of which are also veelas, for their mother is Emily.

In her earlier life, she was alienated for being of a different mother, blamed for the wreckage of a marriage. However, when school started, it was she that was the popular one, the more attractive one, best a Quidditch, even though she wasn't as good academically.

So, she has blood that may be considered slightly more valuable than her mother's would have been, but she paid the price of alienation and ostracism for it.
