Method:
Make and drink the tea. Then swirl the cup round three times anticlockwise. That will give a better image, which will be easier to interpret. Then you need to look at the symbols, and either know or look up what they mean. That is the usual tea leaves reading.
About Tea-Leaves:
Tea leaves are a good place to start to tell the future, as it is easy for beginners to see the shapes, compared to other methods. It may not be so good for more advanced Seers though, as it is basic and perhaps too easy for them. It is easier for them to interpret the shapes, so it is not so much as a challenge than for the less advanced. Also, indefinable shapes are useless.
Facts on Divination:
The Divination classroom is at the top of the North Tower, through a trap door. The classroom is equipped for teaching many things, such as tea-leaves, palmistry, crystal ball and dream interpreting. Many teachers have taught here, such as Professor Sibyll Trelawney, one of Hogwarts Divination teachers. She has made two prophecies, the most famous including Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort. She made this to Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, the night she went for a job interview. It was the prophecy that stated that Harry Potter would bring down Lord Voldemort, and that he would have a power that Lord Voldemort didn’t know. This prophecy turned out to be correct, as Lord Voldemort was killed at the hand of Harry Potter.
