"Close," Professor Jess told the class. "However, the caterwaul charm does not do any physical harm to the recipient. It just causes the targeted person to emit a high pitched scream." He told the class. It was true, it was a very common misconception that the caterwaul charm caused harm to the intruder, but it didn't, hence the reason he was holding a class on the subject.

Darren rolled his eyes, it was quite obvious he wasn't gonna get points but he was still rather annoyed. Any other person would of. But still he had been being a prick to Jess nowadays, he didn't expect Jess to be nice back.

"Incorrect," Professor Jess replied to Mariana in an exasperated voice. "It just makes them scream. Nothing happens to them. They don't see anything scary, the just scream because of the charm." He told them, hoping they finally realised. "Basically, it's just the charm taking hold of your vocal cords, and making them emit a high pitch scream. It does nothing to harm you," he explained, sitting down as he did so

Darren opened his mouth about to say "Yeah yeah we get it, were not as stupid as you," but stopped himself. Rolling his eyes, he didn't even bother writing it down.

"Well," Said Professor Jess, "Imaging you're fast asleep at night, and soemone walks silently into your room and kills you. Well, you might be able to hear them beforehand, if you're not sleeping deeply. But just to play it safe, it's better for people to be ab;e to hear their attackers coming. I mean, if you know, you have a fair chance at fighting them back. If you don't know, well, you're a gonner," he told the class, shrugging as he did so
