Supper seemed the same as it always was, with the exception that the kids were talking about Elwood, wondering what it would be like to be that old, wondering what it would be like to have a great great grandfather in the house, and hoping that he didn't turn out to be just as dark and evil as Pearl had been. Angus didn't have the same hesitation about Elwood, for some reason. He just didn't.
The kids stepped in to clean up the supper dishes and to clean up the kitchen. Angus took his sketch pad and went downstairs to measure the basement for the possibility of leaving the storage room intact and still having an additional guest room downstairs. He wasn't sure if he honestly wanted to add another room or not, but at least having a plan was something he could do. He didn't need to act on it, not necessarily. There was room enough in the basement for a storage room and another bedroom. In fact, the more he looked at it, the more he believed he could put an additional bedroom close to where the girls had both of their bathrooms downstairs. It would make it convenient for anyone staying downstairs.
When he had his design clear in his head, he came back upstairs and put his sketchpad away. The kids were just finishing in the kitchen, and then they all four headed for the showers.
"Did you get our design straightened out?" Marcus asked.
"I did,": Angus said, "With the storage room on the right when you get to the bottom of the stairs, and the girls' room straight ahead, we could easily add a bedroom on the left at the bottom of the stairs. That would put it right next to both of the girls' bathrooms, and would leave us tons of space for perhaps a family room or something in the future."
"Sounds like a smart idea," Marcus said. "With the house being turned upside down tomorrow, would you like my parents to take care of the minions during the day tomorrow? It seems that Kate is taking Poppy and going to London for some supplies for her studio. But, my parents have met the minions by having supper with Robert and Kate, and they'd be happy to do some minion sitting. Frankly, I think they really hope you'll let them do it. You know how grandparents get baby fever."
"That's fine with me if it isn't putting them out. I'd like to get an early start tomorrow. There's a great lot to do upstairs."
"That's fine. I can work on packing our things up overnight while you're asleep, and we can start by tearing down the bed first thing in the morning," Marcus said. "I'll pack a box of my things to leave here and set it maybe in a corner of the nursery so it's out of the way. Aria can make her own decisions on what she wants..." He was interrupted by loud tapping on the kitchen windowsill.
Marcus flicked his fingers to open the window and Archangel flew in and landed on Angus's shoulder with a message.
"Well, you're out late," he told Archangel, who responded by cuddling his head against the side of Angus's head for a moment. "I've missed you too. I dont' see you as much anymore by living over here, do I, Boy? So what's in this message?" Angus opened the message.
"Ah," Angus said. "It's from Robert. We're off the hook for cooking all day tomorrow. The shelterhouse is finally done, and so to celebrate Zoe and Nicky are cooking breakfast, lunch and supper, sideboard style, in the shelterhouse tomorrow, and its open not just for those who live here but also for all the employees. Breakfast will be ready by 5:30, Lunch will start serving at 11:30, and supper will start serving at 4:30."
"That will save us a great deal of time," Marcus said.
"Yes indeed. And, he's also says he's talked with Andrew already about Elwood, and Andrew will be here straight after breakfast to lend us a hand."
"Well, things are going better than you planned."
"That's good. Now, if I can find an all night hardware store."
"Why? What on earth for?" Marcus frowned.
"I've decided that rooms needs a new coat of paint. I want to change the color."
"Oh, Lordy. We've created a monster," Marcus teased.
