Puffskins

The Hufflepuff common room was located in the dungeons of the castle, but despite its location it had a very warm welcoming feeling to it. It was decorated with earthy tones that were complemented by the dancing flames in the fireplace. There were a few sofas and chairs scattered around the room along with tables that students would use to study with. It was a nice place to hang out when not in class. Tonight Maddison was having a hard time sleeping, so she slipped on a pair of fuzzy slippers and padded out of her dorm room. These slippers were accompanied by her pink pajamas, a set of shorts and a tank top, and her hair was pulled up into a bun with the ends sticking out in all directions.
As Maddison walked into the common room, she was greeted by the cozy atmosphere that she had come to love. The crackling of the fire and the soft rustling of the pages from a nearby student's textbook were the only sounds that could be heard. She made her way over to one of the sofas and curled up with a blanket, trying to get comfortable. Her fellow housemates were supposed to be sleeping.

Chase yawned and dragged her feet as she walked out of her dorm room. She'd been asleep for such a short amount of time, but her own stupid head had woken her up with a reminder that she'd completely failed to get her homework done for Transfiguration class. Knowing exactly what sort of trouble she'd be in if she didn't finish her essay, she had drug herself out of bed. Not wanting to wake her dorm mates, she'd pulled her bag out from under her bed and made her way down the stairs, still dragging her feet.

She was dressed in a simple yellow tank top and bright turquoise pajama pants. She'd pulled on a light sweater over the top of the tank top, but the sweater sagged off her shoulder so it was still clearly visible. With her bag thrown over her shoulder and her hair a mess from the partial sleep she'd gotten, she walked down to a table and threw the bag on it, not bothering to be quiet. She grumbled, completely lost in her anger at herself and not noticing anyone else in the common room.

Ciara couldn't sleep at all today, the girl had been tossing around in her bed for awhile. This happened at times for her. She was really not used to these beds here again. Then again she never liked any beds expect the one at home. It was never comfortable anywhere. Also she had hard time to sleep ever since she got sick. There was time when she took sleeping pills but her parents allow her take them anymore. As those made her always very sleepy even during the day. She just slept too many hours at day.

Anyways she walked into the common room to see there two girls of her house. She took a deep breath and just sat down at the sofa. She wasn't sure anymore how to talk with people most of the days. She just wrapped her blanket around her and wondered if she should say something or be in this silence with these girls.

As Ciara and Chase joined her, Maddie's attention was drawn away from her thoughts. "Hello," she greeted them with a smile, her voice overly perky for the late hour. "You guys having trouble sleeping too?" Maddie asked, pulling her feet up into the seat and hugging them close to her chest. "I've had way too much on my mind," she admitted, thinking about her recent encounter with Mason at the Quidditch pitch. She couldn't shake off the feeling she had when she caught him watching her and how he had abruptly stopped.
