"Since I delivered her, I'll take care of registering her," Robert told Ruby. "Not to worry. I have to go into St. Mungo's eventually anyway. We've got plenty of time."
Angus woke while the others were eating, and he went upstairs and showered and changed. He hadn't had time to really clean up after being in Paris, and he just wanted to feel a bit fresher. By the time he finished, Edward was just finishing his lunch.
"I want to go run a quick errand," Angus told Edward, "and I think you should come with me. We won't be gone long."
"Fine by me. It's not like I had other plans. I'm ready whenever you are," Edward said.
"We'll be back shortly," Angus told them, knowing Ruby had an abundance of people there to help her. He and Edward went out for just a short bit, and when they came back, they were accompanied by two professional landscapers, and Angus had bought three trees for the back yard. It was important for him to do this today. He had bought a young weeping cherry tree. This one was an almost fully grown adult tree, and it was profuse with branches that were full of buds that were nearly ready to blossom. Angus had an idea of where he wanted the tree, and he had it placed towards one of the back corners of the yard. With it, he had also bought two large timber bamboo trees and he had those placed slightly behind and on either side of the weeping cherry tree. Once Edward understood what Angus's ideas were and why it felt so important to him, he was fully on board with it. He and Angus had a discussion with the landscapers and put some plans in order.
"What a thoughtful idea," Kate said, looking out the window and watching the landscapers planting the trees. Robert went over to look to see what she was looking at.
"Trees?" Robert asked. "He chose today to do landscaping?"
"You don't get it, do you?" she laughed. "I think it's a sweet gesture. He's planted a weeping cherry tree to commemorate the birth of his daughter in a very quiet way. I think he chose the weeping cherry tree because of how graceful and beautiful all those cascading pink blossoms will be every spring," Kate said. "And I think he's planted the two timber bamboo trees behind her tree are there to honor her brothers, meaning he believes they will always have her back and because bamboo trees are known for strength through flexibility. I think that's what he hopes the boys will be like as adults. He's celebrating his children."
"I'm betting, by the length of the discussion they're having that they're probably going to put some other plants in back there too," Simone said. "When Edward took me to Tuscany to show me the family home there, he showed me a little patch of his garden that Angus designed years ago. It's just a little corner of the garden, right off the morning room. He called it a peace garden. It really is quite a lovely little patch. He put in a winding cobblestone walkway, some magical lights, a koi pond, and a little table and chairs for morning tea and lots of fragrant flowers. It's one of the few spots in Tuscany that Edward truly misses. I wonder if he's going to put a bit of that here. It wouldn't surprise me..."
As she spoke there was another knock on the door, and it raised Robert's curiosity. He went to the door to answer it and saw Abbey there by herself, with a little wrapped present in her hands.
"Abbey?" What brings you here?" Robert asked.
"Mama and Molly and me go'ed shopping," she said. "Mama said she had to go back to work, so she said I could bring it myself. Where's the baby?"
"She's in here," Robert said. "You be gentle now, alright?" She nodded. He let Abbey in, and he looked at Ruby. "I have a tiny person bearing a tiny gift. Do you mind, Ruby?" Abbey took the little package and handed it to Ruby. "Molly and me picked it out all by ourselves." Inside, there was a tiny baby bracelet made of white gold, with real pink pearls, and a tiny dangling pink crystal butterfly charm on it. "She gots a name?" Abbey asked Ruby.
