LONDON CALLING

Ruby chuckled " I don't mind but I think Angus might , he likes his walls just as they are" she said smiling as she stood up " excuse me I should go and check on him myself , I know..Andrew is there but for my own peice of mind" she said and walked over to the duplex. " knock knock, just me" she said walking in and seeing Angus sat in his chair , she walked over and gave him a kiss " so hows your day been?" she asked as she sat in a chair next to him.



"I helped Michael make dinner and boy was there a lot, we had ratattui with...well you had some too" she said " oh and Jess gave me peptol bismol?" she said confused showing him the bottle from her pocket. " oh abby thinks bacon comes from chickens becuse she has them with her eggs, miras going to get her first pet tomorrow after shes run with Jack, but don't worry Robert and Kate are going with her, Kate says she wants to talk to the owl Mira gets first." Ruby sighed then smiled " I missed you" she said " so does Abby so shes coming over to read and she's bringing her magic crayons." she said and chuckled " but she misses you too."

"I did have the ratatouille," Angus said. "It was excellent, and so was that pork tenderloin in that citrus glaze. It's been a pretty quiet day, all things considered. Tried to stand and walk, and found out that a much as I want to do that, it doesn't work. Magic doesn't work at all. So, at the moment, you're engaged to an invalid squib. Robert is rarely wrong, but he'd better not be wrong that this is temporary."

He listened to her talk about the pepto bismol.

"We rarely use muggle medicines," Angus frowned. "I'm sure it probably helps, but if you have that trouble again, do ask Robert to check it. There may be something that suits wizard physiology better." He laughed when Ruby told her about Abbey.

"That child is entirely too smart for her own good," Angus said. "Even if she does get things wrong from time to time, the girl thinks constantly. She's three going on about 8, I think. Let her come tomorrow, and tell her she can bring what she wants. It'll be on Brian to take the crayon stains off the wall. She's not going to have that many more years that the crayons will be magic for her. Let her enjoy it while she can. I told her last week I'd make her a blanket fort out in our back garden and light it up with little magical fairy lights and then we could go sit and read out there sometime at night. Guess that's off my list now. I hate it when I can't keep my word. I even bought a big stack of pink blankets with little girly prints on them to make the fort with, some new toys and some other things for her to put in the fort. I tucked them well away so she couldn't find them. Maybe she won't remember that I promised her."

Ruby listened and smiled " yeah I might do that, but its odd she gave it to me in the first place" , she listened more when he spoke of Abby and chuckled " oh you still could Andrew and I could set it up and put you in it for her, im sure he'd be okay with that, and I can make the lights." she waved her hand and let sparkles drift from her fingers ," see, it will be magical for her." She had heard him call himself a magical squib and ignored it becuse to her he was not.

" Angus your not a squib, your my loving , hansom husband to be, and your here alive , thats what matters." she told him " so stop thinking that way, besides I think Miss Abby is more going on ten than eight." she said with a smile." she is super smart that one" she chuckled then lent in closr to kiss him " besides you were no squib last night" she told him so only he could hear.

"Not really," Angus said. "Sometimes seers hone in on different things. Jess has always seemed to hone in on somebody's medical issue. Robert taught her how to heal by doing energy work because that's how he does it. He's not a seer, but he believed it was close enough to Jess's own seer's abilities that I think he must have taught her how to use those abilities to help her as a healer. I've gotten used to it, although sometimes it can feel a little creepy when she's on something way too quickly for my comfort level, but that's just me, I suppose. I think its probably just the difference in seers. Kate is generally on it if something happens to one of the team members. Khaat's abilities seem to have more to do with being able to see or talk to the dead. Most people would be creeped out by that ability, but that doesn't bother me as much as sometimes Jess's stuff does." He laughed a little.

"I think that if you and Andrew put it up, you should maybe use her tea set and have a tea party in the fort with her. It would be easier for you do get down into the fort than me, but you're welcome to use what I bought if you want. It's down in three big plastic totes in our basement here. They're labeled BF for blanket fort. Andrew could help you bring them up, I'm sure." When she kissed him, he smiled. "That is an entirely different form of magic," he told her.

Ruby smiled " oh that I agree with you on" she said sitting back down " oh and nope shes coming to see you and see you she will, besides I'll be around if you need anything as will Andrew too."she pointed out to him " so no getting out of it" she smiled " did you hear about the guy who fell off the cliff, he was stabbed, and the guy shot at Michael too" she said " Jess healed him though so hes okay"

Ruby could not help but yawn slightly even though it was not late yet " I must have worked myself to the bone today." she said leaning on him a little " zikinnis, corgettes..uug I feel ike I cut all the veg in the world just in today, oh and Michael let me climb a tree" she chuckled " yeah a tree, I did that when I ws six in my own back yard , mind you I did fall out alot but this time I didn't" she said some what proud of herself for making it that far. " but Im going slow, michaels idea."

"Wait, what? The dead guy's okay?" Angus asked, not following. Andrew laughed.

"I think she means Michael's okay," Andrew replied.

"Oh. Well, good. I'm glad he's alright. Yeah, I heard that a guy died. He was one of Lee's men, wasn't he?"

"Yeah," Andrew said. "Nineteen year veteran with us. He was damned good on the job. He's got a wife, and he's got three kids, two already in Ilvermorny, and the youngest will start there this fall."

"Do they have any other family that you know of?"

"Nah. They don't, but not to worry. Lee makes sure we take care of our own. His wife won't be left without. She'll get his pension for life, and we'll wrap around them to make sure that the she and the kids get anything they need."

"I'm glad to know that," Angus said. He listened to Ruby talk about prepping the vegetables for the ratatouille. "Well, your knife skills are certainly getting better. Your slices were nice and uniform, so well done. And he had you climb a tree. Good. There's a lot of learn from climbing trees. if you do it right. you learn to really pay attention to nature. You have to pay attention to what shape the branches are in and whether they're sound enough to rely on. Is the branch covered in ants? Is there a hornet's nest that you're about to lay your hand into or any other sort of hazard that you have to look out for. And, its also about learning that however you go up, you're probably going to have to come down the same way, so it pays to sort of keep that in mind while you're going up so you don't get yourself jammed in someplace. Rock walls are okay, but they're manmade, so all the handholds are alike. They're going to be stable and strong, and while it tests you on how well you can pull yourself up, if you want a real feel for what its like in nature, trees are a great test to prepare you for a cliff face. How do you think we got that treehouse way up there for Abbey? He and I climbed just about every tree within eyesight of the house, I think."

Ruby laghed as Angus thought the dead guy was fine. " yeah I ment Michael" she said then as Andrew spoke she nodded " thats good to know, he didn't need to do that if it was my father, it was senseless and brutal." she sighed " I wish he'd just quit it already, its not going to change anything." she felt she wanted to just slap her father but she , right now was too tired " I thnk you for the compliment of my knife skills , the more I use tehm the more tehy seem natrual, oh and I thought you got a firm in to make it , wow thats realy good." she said smirking at him " I knew you guys made it Robert told me the night I stay with Abby in it, I like it, but not as much as here." 

Ruby felt her stomch start and she took out the peptol bismol " huh weird I don't ushaly get indijestion" she said but brushed it off " must have been something on the steak." she said " have to remember to ask Michael about what he put on it" she said feeling the medication work. " thats better"

"Ruby, you're taking this with your father the wrong way. Stop and listen to what we know. Very little of what he's doing is about you. Stop thinking that he's overreacting to you and I being involved. That's not even the start of it. Let me break it down in plain terms for you. Your father is a murderer. He is a hit man by trade. People like Gelding hire him to eliminate problems, and I've coordinated and commanded almost every Paris raid to rescue children that we've done in the last 15 years. Gelding knows exactly who I am, and he definitely blames me for every single child we've brought home. I really should have expected someone like your father would come into my life before this. Gelding has wanted me out of his way for years and years, and his plan to send in shapeshifters and sorceresses hasn't worked. His plan with James hasn't worked. So now, he's back to trying to take out the people he knows as key figures, and that would be Robert and me. And that's exactly what he's doing. The fact that you and I are involved doesn't make im happier, but that is only a small thing for him. He's not killing American agents because of you. He's doing it to infiltrate the grounds to get to Robert and me. Whatever you thought he was, he's a cold hearted SOB that is doing the job he's being paid to do. So stop thinking you can control him. You can't. It's way bigger than you and me."

He listened to her start stewing about her stomach again. They were going to make a fine pair together, he thought. He blamed himself for things that people said were not is fault, and she was far more prone to anxiety than he was. Of the two of them, he was by far the calmer of the two of them.

"Stop drinking that stuff like that," he frowned. "I'm sure that's not your first dose tonight, and it hasn't even been an hour since supper. If you're having that much issue with it, go see Robert and let him treat it properly. First of all, a lot of that stuff can't be good for you, and second, it doesn't solve the problem. Go over now and see him while he's still up."

Ruby sat and listened to Angus he was right and she knew it. " your right its not about me he wants you and Robert and what you both repersent." she said " an organasation that goes against everything he reperesnts and takes money away from him." she placed the bottle down and at his words nodded " yeah I should " she said kissing his cheek she walked back to the main house.

"Hey Robert, um.. you still awake" she asked " im having problems with my stomach since lunch, not sure why, think its part of my anxiaty but I don't know, do you think you could take a look" she asked as she walked around looking for him.

He watched her go back to the main house, and then, in the quiet, he felt like a bit of heel for spilling his thoughts to her so candidly.

"I was too harsh," he told Andrew.

"Not really," Andrew said. "I don't know her, not really, but she does seem to be a woman who is able to be opinionated and firm minded. It sounded to me like you'd been around that subject with her before. Have you?"

"Yeah. I have, and she has always wanted to draw a line between her father and her. I get it. I do. I sort of did that with my own dad , and he passed not all that long ago. so I understand what she's doing, but this is so much more complicated. We just found out how dangerous he really is and how this really isn't about her, but I think its hard for her to wrap her brain around knowing her dad is a cold blooded killer. She knew he was abusive, but this takes all that to a whole new level."

"Well, and you really were absolutely spot on about that antacid medication. If she's had two doses in less than an hour, then it isn't the right med for her, no matter how well intentioned Jess was about it. So sending her to someone like Robert or Nigel seems like the right move to me too."

Robert had been doublechecking the locks on the house before going upstairs, but he hadn't gotten to the kitchen yet when Ruby came over.

"Trouble, huh? Well, let's see." he said. He went over and laid his hand on her forehead and then laid it for a moment on her stomach. "Come with me a moment." He went downstairs into the sickbay and opened the glass potions cabinet and started to go through the bottles. He chose a bottle at the back, checked it, and then poured a dose and handed it to her. He was deliberately not showing any emotion about it. He didn't want to show that he didn't see how she could be pregnant since Angus had a birth control spell still in place--unless one of two things had happened. Either Angus's spell had failed for some reason, or she was involved with someone else besides Angus. That was really none of his business. If Angus's spell had failed, then Robert needed to confirm that because Angus needed to know that. If his spell was still in place, then, that was between Ruby and Angus. "If its what I think it is, this should take care of it. If it isn't, then we'll try something else. Try that."
