Angus was up early because he hadn't packed a single thing. Much as he hated to go, he was off to Romania today. He apparated back to their room in the main house, and he set out one of his black dinner jacket, trousers, white shirt, and tie, black dress shoes, and a jeweled accessory set that included ruby cufflinks and a ruby tie bar and a ruby lapel pin. It was all enclosed in a small velvet box that made it easy for travel.
He also laid out a lightweight linen suit and cast a spell on it to make it wrinkle free. He knew that it was certainly going to be warm, so he was planning on dressing as cool as possible. And attire on the Orient Express was always dressier than normal. Men generally wore tuxes to dinner, and they wore suits during the day. He packed a pair of silk pajama trousers and a silk robe for bed.
While they were on the trail, though, his clothes were going to be about as opposite as they could be. He packed a few pairs of hiking trousers, jeans, sweatpants, t shirts, a couple long sleeved shirts to protect himself from insects, a hoodie, a lightweight waterproof jacket and a heavier one, a pair of climbing shoes, a pair of hiking shoes, some long underwear in case it got cold in the mountains, a few pairs of shorts for when they weren't in higher altitudes and it got hot, his retractable hiking pole, his leg gaiters, his swiss army knife, and his climbing gloves and hats. He had a whole separate list of things just for gear. It was going to require a lot since it wasn't just hiking or climbing. It was hiking and climbing and then five star luxury. This was going to require some heavy duty magic to manage to pack it all.
He was prepared, though. Edward had somehow found a unique thing for him that he had bought for Angus one year for Christmas. It was a rolling, carry on bag made of waterproof nylon, and it had almost endless pockets and compartments, and it also converted very easily to a hiking backpack. He had to shrink everything, and he packed it very carefully so that his clothes for the orient express were in one area of his bag and the hiking gear was in another, and the climbing gear was in another. He also had a separate pocket for a couple books, a puzzle book filled with crosswords and brain teasers, a pen, a deck of cards, and he even had a little magical box that had some shrunken board games in. The games could easily be resized to be enjoyed.
Since they were boarding the Orient Express at Victoria Station in London, he dressed in a linen expedition suit jacket with a vest. He tucked his aviator sunglasses in his breast pocket of his jacket. He was completely dressed and packed and then saw the shoulder brace. He'd almost forgotten it. Marcus showed up just right at that moment and helped him put it on over top of his shirt and vest and then helped him get his suit coat on. Angus did not like the look at all of the black brace over top of his white shirt and linen colored vest, so Marcus, being well experienced at how to dress for formal occasions, flicked his wand at the brace and changed its color to white so it blended in more effectively with his dress shirt.
Marcus flicked his wand at Angus's bag, casting a spell on it to make it feel more lightweight, and then he took it downstairs for Angus, and they talked on the way about the upcoming train trip. Marcus had traveled by the Orient Express several times when he had worked for the Minister of Magic for Bulgaria.
"I smell breakfast," Angus said. "It smells great, Jess. Can I help you with anything?" She looked like she had it all well in hand, but he offered anyway. He poured himself a mug of coffee, and Marcus set Angus's bag over near the door with someone else's bag that was already sitting there.
"What time does the train leave?" Kate asked, coming into the kitchen.
"It always leaves platform 2 at Victoria Station at 10 am sharp," Marcus said. "They will take the English pullman train to the coast, and that will serve usually a nice brunch, and then from there, there's a short bus ride through the tunnel into Calais where they will actually board the Orient express late in the afternoon. The Orient Express leaves at about 5:30, so they'll need to be there by about 4:30. They need to be at Victoria Station this morning no later than 9 to get checked in and get on board the pullman."
