Angus and Edward followed the women, and it was Edward who found the rock first, and he motioned to Mira and Angus, seeing Ruby going to check the road. They followed the trail up to the iron fence that was the back fence of the lodge property. Angus motioned Mira to go right, and Edward went left, to make a perimeter search by walking as much as they could of the outside of the property. It was a large place though, and Edward was soon wishing Kate had sent them with a couple of owls to fly around them or that they had brought their brooms. Edward believed they would have an easier time if they flew very close to the ground. Once Edward and Mira had started on a perimeter check, Angus found a back gate. He drew a lockpick from his pocket and he picked the lock and silently went inside. He wanted to see for himself what the large building was in the back of the property.
It didn't take him long to find the building. It was a very old stone building, and at first he didn't see any windows in it. The more he walked around it, though, he began to realize there were very small windows up near the roof. He climbed a nearby tree to see the windows better, and he saw the windows all had bars. It took him a moment, and then he realized he had found an old abandoned prison was on Gelding's property. He got as close as he could and and saw an old heavy door on the front. He couldn't tell whether it had been used recently or not, not in the dark.
Now he believed he had something for them to check. This, he believed, was worth some effort, but he remembered Kate's words. They weren't rescueing, only surveiling. And, Angus thought, if they were going to invade, they needed the likes of Robert and Jack and Jessie and the rest. The little four man squad they had right now wasn't likely to be enough. He quickly made his way back outside the lodge property and locked the gate again.
Going back to the creek, he hit the signal on his medallion to tell Mira and Ruby and Edward that he had found something.
