Robert and Kate had been up all night, tending to Archangel. They both believed that the beloved bird was out of danger, and Kate had talked him into trying a bit of fish. Finishing his breakfast, Kate was not so confident he yet had the strength to sleep on his perch, so, with no small amount of difficulty, she talked him into settling into his old familiar nest in the barn so he could rest there without Kate worrying that he might take a fall. The bird was young and confident, and it was no small task to get him to act counter to his nature. But he trusted Kate, and that made all the difference.
Robert had been helpful in healing a good many wounds, despite his lack of veterinary training. He still understood a wound when he saw one, and with some of the wounds healed or healing, the bird was starting to feel better and was perking up a little. Kate made up her mind she was not going to go far from him yet today but decided to bring one of her textile art projects out to the barn and work there so she was still with him. She was feeling comfortable though that Robert might be able to leave her to tend to the business at hand.
He needed to go see if Brian had ever come home over at Khaat's place, and he needed to check on his injuries. Then, if all else seemed to be going well, he needed to go to St Mungo's to check on patients and also to check on the general condition of the potions stores there. He knew he needed certainly more were going to need to be made. That would surely make it feel like a long day. Much as he liked potions work, it could be time consuming because of the meticulousness it required.
He gave Kate a kiss on the cheek and went into the house to shower, change, and perhaps get a cup of coffee. As tired as he felt, tea wasn't going to do it today. he saw Jess and Jack in the kitchen.
"Good morning," he greeted them, stifling a yawn. He set about putting a small pot of coffee. "I'm afraid you're on your own for training this morning. Kate and I have been with Archangel all night, and I'm knackered. If the coffee doesn't pick me up, I might need to get a couple hours before I go to work. My apologies. The good news, though, is that Archangel appears to not be so critical as he was. Kate isn't ready to leave him yet, so I feel like he's in good hands."
