"Alright," Robert said. "Well, now you're making a bit more sense anyway." Just then the medallions started to glow. "It's Jess," Robert said. "Alright, I'm going, I'm going. I'll meet you at Khaat's." He rose, paid his tab at the Leaky, and flicked his wand and apparated out.
Brian apparated into the kitchen, followed in rapid fire succession by Gabe, Edward, Angus and Michael. Robert arrived a moment later.
"Has anyone seen Khaat or Marcus?" Robert asked. "She apparently was supposed to be going to the potions lab at St Mungos and never got there."
"I can vouch for the fact that she never got there," Brian frowned. "I just came from the lab. I brought in a big shipment from Italy, and I was going through the shipment invoice with the clerks that are in charge of unpacking and storing the new things. Khaat wasn't there, never showed up. One of the newer lads thought she had arrived because he heard some rather loud wandfire from outside the door in the hallway, so he opened the door, and there was nobody there."
"Sounds like somebody leaving, not somebody arriving," Robert said.
"Maybe more than one somebody," Edward said. "Can't tell you much. My seer's abilities seem to be on the fritz."
"So are Jess's and Mira's and mine," Kate said with a deep frown.
"All of you?" Robert said. "Then someone is mucking with us." He walked over to Kate and laid his hand on her forehead. "You've been blocked. Someone has cast a spell to block any of your abilities from working. And I'll bet that's what's happened to the rest of you. That probably means that Khaat, wherever she is, is blocked just like you are. For now, we'd better hope that Marcus is with her."
