Ooooooooooh. Right on. *ponders* I feel like he got over his jealousy of Albus in time to notice that sort of stuff happening. I of course don't know the details of that incarnation of James, but I feel like, behind all the snark and sarcasm he would've cared about that. Particularly because Albus is not part of the family anymore, really. He probably blames people from school as well as the family members that failed to step up as much as they should have.

Were you thinking rivals/enemies? Or like Sel's grown up and James hasn't? What's your take on it, knowing that history?

When Selwyn was at Hogwarts, he was an immature smartarse and everyone knew it. So that might play into James' feelings. Also it occurs to me that James would not have a very good impression of him from the time he was in the Order, either.

With Albus, at the time, Selwyn and Albus were Scorpius' closest friends, but Selwyn was NOT HAPPY that Scorpius paid attention to Albus.

Selwyn and James never really interacted, though. Obviously Sel has grown up (a bit, to some extent...) but I didn't have anything solid in mind. More just thinking it's a possible link or something.

(If it helps, Jack and Selwyn also didn't get along. So while James/Jack had some overlap as well, there's another person that James had some sort of allegiance to that was at odds with Selwyn. Jack's grown up a lot too so she doesn't really put any weight into their school issues.))
