Clair is definitely not the sort of person who wears his heart on his sleeve. His most common expression is a stony look of defiance, and he is one of those people who refuses to ever break eye contact first. However, when he does smile, it lights up his whole face.
His pale complexion means that things like crying or becoming flushed will leave stains across Clair's cheekbones for hours, and it's part of the reason he's learned to bury his feelings so thoroughly. Naturally, he also burns easily.
A boy in an adult's body, Clair has filled out quicker than most of his peers, though the roundness of his features is a clue to his youth. This allows him to get away with more than his peers, or not get away with as much, depending on the situation.
With respect to things like fashion and clothing, Clair's scruffy outfits seem a little too well coordinated to really be so casual. And so they are, because he is really quite vain, though he'd rather die than let anyone find that out.
During school hours he of course keeps to the school uniform, apart from the addition of a few accessories here and there. He habitually wears gauges and a ring on his right middle finger. Other things, like bracelets and necklaces, come and go depending on his mood that day.
His casual clothing is more eclectic. Clair has a penchant for slogan tees, especially if they say something obscene or provocative, but he'll wear anything that catches his eye.

To all appearances, Clair seems to fit the role of the rebel perfectly, doing things like getting a tattoo during the summer holidays, or baiting other people into fights.
There is, however, another dimension to his personality, one that most people don't get to see. A side of him that's intensely curious about people and concepts, that drives him to read obscure texts even if they're completely irrelevant to the curriculum. One that turns his intense stare from defiant to self-depreciating.
Although he doesn't like to think about it, Clair also knows how easily he becomes attached to people and this is, perhaps, part of the reason for some of his antisocial behaviour. Keeping others at arm's length until they've earned his trust or proven their worth is a kind of self preservation.

Early Years:
Clair's early years were run-of-the-mill and mostly uneventful. Like most practically-pureblood children, he was home schooled until the age of eleven. His closest companion at this time was his brother and although he was a bit boisterous, his behaviour was never a problem.
Hogwarts Years:
Clair began at Hogwarts in the 2025 - 2026 school year. It was a relatively peaceful time for the wizarding world, as everyone recovered from the Welsh Green Itch. He suffered homesickness, a situation that wasn't made better by his brother's merciless teasing whenever he and his friends noticed the bright spots on Clair's cheeks.
On the way to school in his second year, the Express was attacked by James Blood and this scared Clair badly. It was during this year Clair's marks began dropping as he found a preference for alternative reading material.
Clair's third year became the new normal. He began receiving regular owls from his mother encouraging him to study harder, more often, with more effort. Whenever he got an especially bad mark, his father would send a howler. He began getting into fights.
His fourth year was the year of the Ilvermorny Exchange. Along with the majority of the Hogwarts cohort, Clair ended up stranded at Ilvermorny when he ought to have been at home. This did nothing for his temper.
